A friend is in prison and calls from this number from a Nebraska lockup.  I think it is some kind of a calling they can buy and use.  The call cuts off after 15 min.

I honestly don't think this is a scam. My son is in a correctional facility in Pennsylvania. He has been there 45 days and has 45 to go. Every time he has called in the past, it has been a local number. Today, this number came up. Same message about it being a prepaid call and his name. Glad I answered it, he is only 21, and the only thing keeping him going is the 15 minute phone calls to me, and a 1/2 hour visit once a week. They really do need your support in there.

This is surely a scammmmmm!  I've received 3 calls today from this number.  After the first call, which was an automated voice message telling me my son was in some jail and needed money to make phone calls, I hung up and called my son.  He lives in another state and was at work having a normal day.  It may be a legitimate jail phone service, but I think the caller(s) are trying to scam info from strangers.  Unless you know the caller and that they are legitimately incarcerated and routinely call you, don't trust anyone from this number.  I would never give out credit card or personal info and such over the phone unless I initiate the call and know for certain who or what company I am talking to.

Hello, I would like to request that my cell phone number (1-775-400-6344) be removed from your call list. I have recieved almost 20 calls in the past 2 months from this number, (722-807-2860) and I would apreciate it if my requests were met. Thank you for your time and consideration.

They start out toll free because the inmate is suppose to be allowed one phone call to let you know where they are. ( they dont always get this call ). The PCSDAILYDIAL system is not a scam. You can put money in an acct to a phone # of your choice,  so your loved one or friend can call you. Many times, this is the only way the inmate can communicate with the outside world. Note: PCSDAILYDIAL- (Public Communication Services) ...IS NOT the same as  ["PCS" -"Prison Call Solutions"]. They are two entirely different companies.

You are hilarious and absolutely right.  The call is coming from a dirtbag "friend" who owes me money and has ignored my calls.  Now, he has been hauled off to jail and wants me to come bail him out.  Needless to say, I didn't answer the call.

I reviewed this call and it said that it was from Marion country, which is the county I live in, but in Texas. I looked up the area code for that that county's prison and it would be ***903***. The call was from the area code ***972***. This is proof that this is a scam somehow. I do not know if calls from jail are collect, but that also seemed questionable. Before you go accusing anything hateful, please do a little research and actually listen to the message left by the caller. Thanks for your time

I received a call from this number. At first I rejected it, scared outta my mind someone was calling me from jail but later on I found out it was a close friend who'd been in since October. He has to use a different name then what we call him but I would answer the calls. You never know who it'll be. It might be someone who you actually know and care about.

Wow ... another hateful soul ... WHY would you do anything for him? Well, it's a few little things called mercy, forgiveness, compassion, kindness, etc. If you can't find those things in your heart, then your heart is very small ... or non-existent.  Why all these people on their high horses, like they've never done anyting wrong in their lives??? Take a good, long, hard look at yourself .... I'll bet there's PLENTY you don't deserve from anyone, either.

I'd take a prisoner as a friend any day, over someone with a hateful, bitter soul like yours. You obviously have WAY more people than unknown prisoners who you have unforgiveness, resentment, bitterness, anger and hate towards. Try a little understanding and compassion, and show mercy, once inawhile - you'll be amazed at how those attitude changes can take the "sour" right out of you. You're not even in prison and I can tell there's a lot wrong with you ...  And don't say you don't "offend" or "commit offenses" against other people - with a mouth and attitude like yours, I'm POSITIVE you do - the only difference between you and a prisoner is that it's not against the law to be rude, vulgar, obnoxious and condescending to people you don't even know.

People like you are usually all talk and no action ... you say those things from behind an anonymous shield - but you're a sniveling coward, in reality. You'd NEVER have the guts to say it to one of those big, buff prisoner's face, where he can fight back. You're a pathetic coward and bully - Taking verbal punches and jabs at others from behind an anonymous screen name is equivalent to sucker-punching and kicking a target when they're down ... which makes you no better of a human being

This number is from PCS - a company that handles MANY pay phones from MANY correctional facilities in the U.S. (both Federal and State Prisons). The voicemail left on my phone always cuts off the first part, so you have to listen to the whole message to hear the inmate's name as he says it (which is recorded before the call goes through to you).

Always at least listen to see who the inmate is, who is calling you, because I got a call from the son of some good friends of mine, who had moved to another state, and somehow, unfortunately, ended up with a short prison term. He was trying to get a hold of his parents (my friends) because he did not have either their new address or new phone number, yet. I didn't particularly want to talk to or "help," this person, but it ended up being for his parents, who I know hadn't heard from him in a few months and were very worried as to where he was (or what happened to him), so I did what I had to do in order to speak to him. But after the inmate says his name, the recording will say, "An inmate from ______ Correctional Facility in ________ (the name of the facility, and what state it's located in). So you could always just pass that information on (if you believe the inmate called you in order to reach someone else, who he's having trouble reaching), or call the facility to find out how to send mail to the inmate, if you don't want to incur the cost of the phone call.

Jails and prisons only allow inmates to either make collect calls or via a pre-paid account. In many of them, the "collect calls" are no longer done the "old fashioned" way - where the other party simply accepts the collect call, and the "cost" of the call is added on to the accepter's monthly phone bill. Many correctional facilities use companies like PCS, who have the "accepter" of the calls make an account with them, where they then have the choice of making a pre-paid account for the inmate (where you put funds onto an account number electronically with a credit or debit card), and the inmate has to use that account number when making calls (and there may be an option for him to use that account number to call anyone he wants, or just you - the person who is paying for the calls), or you keep your credit or debit card number on file in this account, and it gets charged only on a per-call basis (where the offender is allowed to only call you/your number).

So this call gives you several options - it will ask you if the phone being called is your account number or not, and tries to see if it has an account or not (for acceptance purposes). If they find no account, they ask you if you want to create one or speak to a customer service rep, or if you want to deny the current call, or deny the current call and then block all future calls from that number.

I seriously want to fight all of you idiots saying it's a scam. It's a prison phone system. Had I read the first dumbass comment saying this was a scam number, I wouldn't have just found out my brother got arrested.

It's a prepaid system, you have to set up an account. But it's still legit, albeit a sorry excuse of a phone system. Sorry you inane retards like letting people who apparently feel like they can count on you and trust you to sit and rot.

This number is to a company called Prison Call Solutions (PCS). They help inmates and their families have less expensive phone charges by deposing funds into an account that serves as a local calling card, to avoid long distance charges. this company serves all US jail facilities, hence all the different caller ID locations.

Okay first of all, this is not a scam. Someone somewhere in a facility is trying to get ahold of family or friends. Second, no jail has the phone line on after ten pm and before 7 a.m. so some of you all are b***s***ing stuff you obviously dont know about. Second, just becuase all your familly and friends are accounted for doesnt mean it wasnt someone you knew, get set to the drunk tank for one night, and this is still the number that will come up. To the dumbass who said hes on the outside, think about it. obviously it was in refrences to set up an account with your own number specificly, as opposed to sending an inmate money he can spend on anything, setting up an account with your number allows you to put money on the account that can only be used to call your number. THIRD, if you dont want the f****ng call, call it back and it gives u an option to stop calls. in the time it took you to get on here and bi*** about something you dont know about and make yourself look like idiots, call the number back and stop calls. THIS IS NOT A SCAM. It amazes me how dumb people are. And Troy is so completely right and its just sad and terrible how the world seems to think the way inmates are treated is okay. Do you realixe that someone who has murdered or a child rapists, get treated the exact same as someone who goes in there for stupid s***, like a Disorderly conduct (being loud) or someone who was hanging in the wrong place with the wrong people. They hacve the same damn rights. You go into jail with a  stupid meaningless misdemeanor and you come out of there with a whole different perspective in live because of the way people are treated in there. Imagine living dayd in and day out with murderers and etc. you have to learn to be a hard a** in there and it doesnt change people for the good. EVER. So stop bitching about this number because you dont realize how much one stupid minute call can do for an inmates day. stop bitching and put your name on the do not call list. just call the number. i Thank god everyday for this phone system so i can talk to my boyfriend whos been stuck in jail for months on lack or residency.

#depressed at how clueless people in this world are.
