Agreed! Sounds like a shilly is playing make believe again.

Does sound like a set up for tomorrow's scammer's calls doesn't it?

Exactly. And how did she "meet with an IRS agent" if the number wasn't working?! Did she go to her local IRS location? I'd be very leery of calling this number back - it's easy enough for people to find their local IRS phone number either online at the www.irs.gov website, or from the phone book.

For SOME reason, I, and others, should take your post with extreme caution!

The IRS does not initiate contact via phone. ALWAYS double check the phone number against your local IRS office - link given!

I received a call from this number & was glad I answered. It was the IRS & this is not a scam. If you've been a victim of identity theft or someone filed a tax return in your name...it would be in your best interest to answer if they call back. I called the number back & got a recording that said the number was not working but I met with the IRS agent & this is for real.
