it is a 'trade journal subscription update' service. It is a contractor that calls every so often to verify that one is elegible/still elegible to receive a trade journal, such as "scientific engineer" or whatever. the reason they do this is because the "journal" is full of ads, and paid for by slick glossy ads for expensive-looking scientifical type stuff.. It has interesting information if you are a mad scientist or engineer, but the advertisers require that it be sent to qualified potential customers - industry professionals - not just to winos and bums, and that is why they call -to make sure they are getting their moneys worth. However their machine dials faster than the call center minions can pick up the phones, so it just beeps. Or it is broken. or there are not enough beatings. or something. It all brokie, everyone use defect system, save dollar, no one care! The fix is to call the stupid annoying number and wait for the automated robodroid to answer, then it will give you an option to be placed on the do not call list. Do that and this annoyance will go away. I hope you are happy now. I am.

Picked up the phone but didn't say anything, There were a series of clicks or tones that just repeated like a computer trying to get another computer to respond.

THey call several times a day along with other numbers and it sounds like someone keeps pushing a button

This number keeps calling our swictboard at work. They've called at least twice a day for a week now and everytime I answer there's just silence on the other end.

They just called, no one answers and no voice mail.  How can I stop this guys from calling?
