Received call at 8:11am on Saturday morning. No message was left. After researching via internet, I discovered others have received harrassing phone calls from this number. Supposedly is some type of collection agency. I plan to document all contact and report the agency to the authorities if it continues to break the law.

Don't do payment arrangements with this company. I cancelled the payment arrangements with this company and they still made unauthorized collections from my checking account. I was overdrawn by $300+ twice. I refuse to make anymore payments through my checking acct. and I did let them know when I will be able to make the payment through moneygram yet we get the same calls as well.

I'm a little overdue... just a few days past the grace period. They called me on Monday, (it's now wednesday) and I said I would be paying on friday, the nice girl said that she would note this... and then they called 4 times yesterday and now 5 times today. That's excessive.  So now when it comes up on my phone it says "Loan Vultures" and I can ignore it.

It is definitely Capital One Auto Finance.  The caller ID on my phone reads Austin Commercial.  I am unemployed and behind on my car payments so they call me all the time.  I also received calls from 800-955-6600 which is also Capital One.  I decided to look up the phone number on the internet.

This # calls a business # about every 10 minutes for an employee. No matter how many times I ask them to call his personal # they keep calling here! It is very annoying! The receptionist spends more time answering calls from capital 1 than business calls. They are very rude!

You should view the entire Fair Debt Collection Practice Act and become familiar with your rights and responsibilities as a debtor.

It is quite lengthy so I have listed the chapter outline here from the U. S. Government web site as well as detailed some of the more frequently asked questions from consumers. You can also listen to a short MP3 version of a radio recording from the FTC on their website.

Sections 803 through 812 are of primary concern to debtors including what actions debt collectors may and may not take, what constitutes abuse, harassment and illegal actions, as well as section 813 which outlines civil liability for violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act.

If you use credit cards, owe money on a personal loan, or are paying on a home mortgage, you are a "debtor." If you fall behind in repaying your creditors, or an error is made on your accounts, you may be contacted by a "debt collector."

You should know that in either situation, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act requires that debt collectors treat you fairly by prohibiting certain methods of debt collection. Of course, the law does not forgive any legitimate debt you owe.

Check out these commonly asked questions from the FTC about your rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
What debts are covered?
Who is a debt collector?
How may a debt collector contact you?
Can you stop a debt collector from contacting you?
May a debt collector contact anyone else about your debt?
What must the debt collector tell you about the debt?
May a debt collector continue to contact you if you believe you do not owe money?
What types of debt collection practices are prohibited?
What control do you have over payment of debts?
What can you do if you believe a debt collector violated the law?
Where can you report a debt collector for an alleged violation?
You can call any attorney in your area, or you can get a list of qualified attorneys that know the debt and credit laws and how they apply to your particular situation. We highly recommend that you be smart and safe! Use a free online legal access service that lets you review the backgrounds of pre-screened local attorneys, then you decide who to call, plus the service is absolutely free and confidential!

I agree with SGT.   No message?  Must not be important.  I just keep an eye on the mail.  That's what really tells me what's going on.  Anyone ever get one of those stupid cutoff voicemails?  "...375 for an important message...")  Hmmm... I dialed 375 and nothing ha[p[ened.  Sure hope it wasn't a message about a dead relative.  HA!

This is Capital One Auto Finance. They call several times a day even if you have made payment arrangements with them. They want me to give them a check over the phone, which I refuse to do. I have told them that I will pay them on Friday by MoneyGram, but that doesn't seem to be good enough for them. My payment is only ten days past due. They insist that they can't stop the calls unless I give them a check over the phone.

They also call from 972-378-4136 and 972-378-3658

This is not Capital One.  I was able to contact Capital One customer service, and they verified that these numbers in Texas are not affiliated with their organization.  They asked me to call the National Fraud Information Center at 1-800-876-7060.

I understand that payment is due from Capital one,  But it is not necessary for Capital one Collectors, to call anyone over 5 times in one day,  Than become very rude.  I myself have been a collecotr, However I was able to sympathize when many of the clients.  NO one knows what situation another has to deal with in there life.  Times are hard for so many weith jobs laying off and etc.  So Please if the VP/ HR or Collecotrs Supervisor reads these e-mail, remember you can attract alot more bees with honey than you can with Lemon.   Also, please keep in mind, that people are not avoiding paying there bills.   Many have just falling on hardtimes.  So if you want a call back, or an answer from someone , plesae dont be ignorant.   How many peopl you know answers ,unknow callers, or unknow names.  Not many.  Stop the harrsement.  A nice call back number , would be greatly appreciated.  However, People dont realize, your paid by the number of calls you make, and you may possible bonus if you talk to so many people , with promises to pay.

I have been receiving multiple phone calls from the # 972-378-6856.  The Caller ID is showing Bradley Bakotic.  I figure it's Capital One Auto Finance.  I guess they think that if they harass us enough with phone calls, they'll get their payment.  My husband has been unemployed, but will start a new job this week, and will be getting paid weekly.  So, we'll pay them once he gets a check.  Maybe then the stupid calls will stop.
