Call on caller I.D. , listed under the name as "S W A" . I don't call back #s' and if you are smart then you won't either . It's just a way of telling the caller you are interested and reversed charges may apply to you .

on Caller ID: 972-496-0527 @ 9:17 a.m. on 4-19-2008 Caller: SWA
I thought SWA was abbreviation for Southwest Airlines.  I was not home; therefore, they hung up. I wondered who would be calling me from SWAirlines. Decided to try the internet to see who it was. Now, I know.  Thanks for the info.

Report them to Consumer Protection.  I did that not long ago because of calls from state of Washington.  After I reported them, the calls stopped.

Calls numerous times at all times of the day.(8am til 9:30pm)  Asks for donations.  Told them every time someone talks not to call back. Lots of hang ups when I answer also. They said Do Not Call Registry does not apply to them.

got one today, caller id said "statewide appea". not enough room for it all. with all the talk about state troopers im guessing it might be a warrant sting. seeing if you or the person there looking for is there so they can arrest you. as for the fundraising message, come on. do you really think they would say "we are looking for people with warrents, say your name and what time you will be home so we can arrest you."? my ex-wife has warrants so they might be calling to see if she is here. not to be nosy or anything but does anyone posting have or knows someone who might have warrants and that person gave the police ur number as a way of contacting them?

Texas State Troopers Association (TSTA), which hires professional telemarketers to call potential donors for contributions. While the paid solicitor might have a good sales pitch urging potential donors to support the state police, much of the money raised by TSTA doesn’t actually go to officers or their families. According to a recent IRS filing by the TSTA, its telemarketing efforts yielded $3.59 million through telephone solicitations. Of that amount, more than 75% – or $2.78 million – was spent on “professional fundraising fees.” The IRS documents also indicate the organization spent just $10,800 on trooper death benefits; $22,000 on a “trooper event;” and $72,000 on contract lobbyists.

Dear newmoon,

When State Wide Appeal calls you it has nothing to do with a warrant, it has everything to do with that is a new number or an old one that has cycled through the calling system. If you have any questions you can reach them directly at:

I know they seem like A**holes Greg but I know for a fact that 80% of donations go straight to the State troopers.......a lot of the overhead is hourly wages and rent in the actual office along with people saying they will give donations and do not give. We mail out a "I support the Texas State Troopers" bumbersticker but most "supposed donators" don't donate at all. Therefore the cost of making and mailing out these stickers plus the cost of shipping only allows for 80%. Look it up Gary before you make assuming acusations.

They called 3 times today. These people make commission from selling donations. They are  bunch of low life telemarketers acting as state troopers. Do not believe them or give them any money.

If they can get your donations for this
that means they can send more tax money to other countries,
to Iraq and into the politicians pockets.
You pay donations for what your tax money should have paid for
in the first place.
Its called double dipping.
Your tax money in Bushes pocket
Your donations to what your taxes should have paid for.
hasnt anyone been paying attention for the last 8 years?

Sure they "claim" to send money to other countries
but I bet if you actually Asked the other countries
you would learn that they never received money from the US.
where is the tax money going?

Receive calls everyday from this number. The I.D. reads SWA. I do not answer; I screen my calls. I don't know why they call or what they hope to gain by repeated screening.

Constant calls from these freaks, who hang up as soon as someone answers.  I suspect that they have a list of people they are harassing who have refused to donate to their bogus Highway Patrol funds.

multiple calls from S W A 972-496-0527 and the person Jack/Zack was rude, mean and hung up on me. Then he called 3 times and I told him it was harrasement and I had a call log showing how often he called.  He hung up and did not call back.  When I call back I get either a recording saying "fund raising office" or a fax line.  I have turned this number in to BBB.

Claimed to be Texas State Troopers Association.

?SWA? is ?State Wide Appeals?, they are fundraising solicitors for the State Troopers Association and a variety of other organizations. About 5% of what they collect actually benefits the target organizations.

If you would like to make a meaningful contribution to The Texas State Trooper Association visit http://www.texasstatetroopers.org or call 512-450-1814. Or contact the local Police, Sheriff or State Trooper office(s) in your state or local area directly.  It is very important to support law enforcement, don?t wait till you need them.
