Ace Cash Express called the other day and said that they were calling on behalf of a specific person and were given your name and number as a contact person for verification of a specific person.  I told the person that we don't give out personal information about anyone without the specific person or any person giving me(us) prior authorization first.  The caller was trying to find a person and wanted to know if I would verify their name, address, and telephone number which they, of course, didn't have.  They only had a name.  They were implying the person gave them your name as a "reference" in hope you would tell them a person's whereabouts, phone number, address, or anything.   I told the person I knew the person they were trying to contact, but that is all the information they would receive and not to call again.  
There are too many "phone, postal mail, and email frauds" these days and everyone needs to be careful.  

I was givin a check i cashes at ace the boy who took my check called bank to make zure funds were there.so he cashed check. Week later im getting calls im going to jail now Richard Kace is his name said the check bounced i said hold on person who wrote me check got on phone said ok he will pay tje $75.00 on wed.mr kace said no today go pawn something and get up to ace amd pay it or you all go to jail. Lol,,ok well you scared that old man but not me. As of today i still get threats and the peraon who wrote check made an agreement so i should be in the clear right? Guess not now the calls go to v.mail because i had to block them 7 calls a day and he is threathing now my family who are these people to do that??? As far as i am concerned the person who wrote check said he will pay it to that man and he should leave me alone the kid at ace called tje bank to make sure funds were there and they were now total is $350.00 for a $50 check,hmmmm Richard keep threathing my attorney likes the more u call the more money WE GET PER HARRASSING CALL.

Got a call from this number and spoke with a Dominich... He said i had taken out a payday loan in 2008 and they are calling to offer me a settlement... I asked him where this was taken out and he couldnt tell me.. But kept saying you are now in collections for this.. I asked for a direct number and he gave it to me and advised him i would be calling ACE in regards to this supposed loan i took out.. He did tell me before i hung up that it would be a waste of my time because ACE would not have my records.. I said we will see. Called ACE directly and they have nothing on record for me for a loan in collections or an loan through them for that matter.. Called this Dominich back, he got hateful and said i told you they wouldnt have your records, I said they did have my records and there is no loan for me in collections.. He said they dont because we have your records.. He wanted my information and i said if i am in collections then you would have all my information .. He got very upset got very rude then hung up on me... SCAM  SCAM SCAM... Beware...

I received call from this number only recently (1/8/13). The problem is you are actually picking up the phone and talking to these losers. I dont even talk to them, I see the number (and this goes to any 800 # I dont recognize) and I press "talk" and then hit my "off" button on phone so I never speak to them and they never get a chance to leave a message.  If Im out and they leave a message, I dont even listen to it.

What is this company?  An abrasive, rude woman called my wife's mobile phone number asking for me. Then, when I tracked down the company name and number, they had no record of my name or phone number. Why would this person be calling me and how did they get my wife's cell of all things???

Info needed two weeks ago i wrote a ck out to a friend to cash for 300 dollars. After ck was cashed the ck i got for job came back which caused a problem i called to let ace know my ck for 300 would come back and to let me know when it does which they did at time i was trying to get money from people who wrote me ck. In mean time i pd 200.00 on the 300.00 i wrote. Can they have me arrested for anything since they excepted partial payment and threathen me thank you

Checks stolen in the mail, altered them, and Ace Cash America cashed them. I found out about the forgery, and closed the account before they wiped me out. Now Ace Cash had the checks refused by the Bank and want me to cover it???   Idiots !  They need to go after the thief they cashed them for, as they were stupid and took an altered check a 3rd grader could tell was forged !!!!    Risk you take when your in the check cashing business and take any old check,  JUST TO GET YOUR EXHORBITANT CHECK CASHING FEE !!

Excellent post, Richard. I'd also like to add that several cordless phone makers have models with call block options. I'm sure everyone can see the utility of this in dealing with lying turds like these. I use Panasonic, myself, and it works very well.

I've mostly found service provider blocking almost worthless. AT&T only allows ten numbers, only in your area, and then apparently it does not apply to anyone you actually want blocked. Hence, the value of this feature built into the phone.

After all... They didn't call to have a conversation, so why even let them talk to my family or my answering machine?

Got a call from 972-550-5000 on my cell phone and a man asked if this was a business or private phone. It is my business phone and when I told him he hung up. What is that all about?

ACE America showed on caller ID, there was a message left which was just someone typing on a keyboard then hung up.

I cashed a payroll check from my employer, Creative Solutions, at ACE. The check bounced. They are now telling me that I'm liable for it. They have been calling steadily for two months. I have to pay the debt. I don't understand why I'm responsible for a check that bounced when it was made out to me. I didn't write this check. This makes no sense to me.

The person I spoke with was named Richard Kaplan.

They called from 972-550-5000 but the number he left on my voice mail was 888-753-3100. His extension is 7596.

This number has called my home phone multiple times but I do not answer it

ace cash express has been calling me over and over and i tried telling them that i didnt have it , the 280 dollars! The lady got all into my personal life asking about 401ks ands such fourth, but if i had a 401k i would have borrowed it from there dont u think! then 4 3 months they have been talking about turning my case over to the police!!! Im not scared i thinks its funny!

I guess I was lucky. I got a call from someone at this number yesterday & since I still get calls from numbers I don't recognize, I waited for the caller to speak. (Some are just robocalls).

I can see where debt collectors would get nasty, as there are people who can't pay or refuse to pay. They don't know who they're talking to so they probably assume they've reached the person in debt no matter who answers.

However, I discovered that in Texas at least, the "limit" on interest is 100% for these types of companies. You must be desperate or just plain stupid to agree to that.

I believe this person is a different ethnicity from mine, perhaps that is part of why the caller I had took my word that I'm not who they want & don't know the person. I was told my number would be removed from their account.

It's rather obvious why this number became available. I've had so many robocalls, telemarketers, & collections calls I've had to block or not answer. I took a chance on this one & hope that my number is removed from their records as the caller said it would be.

The call I got was courteous & I did not even try to track down what the business is until today when I noticed one of my phones was unplugged (bad power outlet location). I did not get the male caller's name.

I do hope the previous owner got her flu shot, some flu clinic has been robocalling too.

I recieved a call from these people, but not for a loan that isn't paid.  I cashed a payroll check that bounced and instead of going after the writer of the check, they are coming after me with all sorts of threats.  I refuse to pay for a check that I did not write... told them so.

aND WHAT ABOUT WHEN THEY CALL YOUR CELL PHONE and your not even the person they want and the harass you and threaten you if you do not pay I keep getting calls from them looking for 2 people that do not live here i have had the number for a year and the claim well they called and talked to them at that number just last week they are scammers or just plain stupid or ignorant

Wow, great info. Are you a lawyer by chance? I've been having to deal with this for a while now and they will not stop calling. Wonder how long it would go on if you really do owe them something?

It is actually ILLEGAL to threaten arrest or punitive actions over the phone or threaten to sue. You can take them down to Chinatown for that. Plus, there are stiff laws about what these type of opportunist lenders can and can't do to collect. Check it out online.

Mr Theodore Porter with Dept. of Checks demanded to know where a person was who I do not know.  The person had the same last name as me and the caller very aggressive when demanding to know what I knew about this person.  I felt threatened and am reporting this company to the FTC.  He called back a second time within 2 minutes and when I demanded information about him, he hung up on me.

Give 'em a good loud fart when they call...that's all they deserve.
