These people at "Political Opinions of America" who are making these illegal telemarketing robocalls are not taking a real survey. That's part of their scam -- an attempt to get around the do not call list by using a fake survey. They are spoofing dozens of different phone numbers from all over the country. They also now have a fake website.
If you press any number (or fill in a form on their fake website) to have yourself removed from their calling list, you are only confirming that your number is real, etc.
The cruise is not free. You will have to give them a credit card to 'hold' your reservation. They will charge 'small fees' to it. However, the fees are not small and are not refundable. Some people who have fallen for this scam have also had to sit through interminable time-share presentations with high-pressure salespeople. Come on!
Hang up. Block the number if you have that capability, or add the number to your phone's address book under SCAM. Immediately report each scam call that you receive to www.donotcall.gov. If they don't know about it, they cannot do anything about it.

I just got an email from this man saying he was from match.com. How do they write me directly? Scary. It came to my personal email and that's not even the one I have listed for the site to send me emails from matches.

I took the survey and then spoke to one of the sales agents. Before he could get into his script, I asked him the name of the company conducting the survey. He said "that's above my pay grade", so I asked to speak to his supervisor. The supervisor said it's an independent company. I kept him on the line by saying I wanted the cruise (which I didn't) but was concerned and wanted to give feedback on the way the survey questions were asked. He said they weren't allowed to give out the company's name and I asked if that was because they were ashamed to be associated with them? He then said "do you want the cruise or not" and I told him that clearly a company that was ashamed of their business partner and allowed supervisors to speak to potential customers like that was not a company I cared to do business with - and then he hung up on me!
These guys are such morons! I don't blame the individuals even thought this guy was an a**, but stop trying to skirt around the law. I am on the DNC as well...

The DO NOT CALL list excludes surveys & political places...so I guess that's how they get around it. File a complaint with them anyway. That is abuse of the system. (They use different numbers.)

I also got the recorded survey from a lady named Jennifer. The phone number said unavailable on my caller id. After the three question survey I was transferred to the second lady named Bethany. She gave me the cruise information. I told her I was skeptical and not willing to give my credit card information out over the phone to pay the port tax today. She requested to transfer me to a manager to sooth my fears. I was transferred to a male who started the same sales pitch. When I stopped him and explained why I was skeptical he became agitated and started yelling at me on my ignorance for passing up such a wonderful deal.
Are we sure this web site is not set up to gather information on what they did wrong on the previous calls so they can modify their technique.

| sam 2011-10-25 17:43:50 Unknown |
LOL, they must not like democrats...
yeah, I got a call from them this morning but I wasn't quite awake enough to walk to the phone to answer it, so i just let it ring, and then they didn't leave a message. "if they didn't leave a message, it must not have been important" is our motto. Also, the phone number was listed as "unknown name" which we've been getting mass amounts of calls like this from fake Amex bill collectors, so i figured it was them again....

Good information!
I think that anyone annoyed by these calls should refer back to the cruise line carrier and forward their complaints to them. I think after receiving hundreds of calls from angry people, the cruise line may want to either re-think their strategy or launch their own investigation into this questionable company.

They "got" your unlisted phone number by a very simple process. They program their automatic phone dialer to start dialing in a manner such as this 916-955-0000. Now, should you live in the 916 area code in the 955 exchange and your phone number ends in 4 numbers ranging between 0000 and 9999, your going to get called. They know that there will be a lot of blocked calls and a lot of hang up calls, but they don't care. They are paying those folks on the automatic dial machines pennies per call in salary so if they only take X number of calls per day and successfuly fleece Y numbers of call receivers out of their money, they (the company that hired the call maker) will make Z dollars per day. Bottom line is, get caller ID. If you don't recognize the number that called, don't answer it. If you have a phone recorder, or voice mail, the call will go to that device. If it was an important call, they will leave a call back number. No number...........no call back. I know, it's a real PIA, but until the FCC and the government "get real" about controlling this nuisance, it's all we have to fight back. Good luck! Now, deep breathing and r-e-l-a-x!

Well noting on what other people say, it seems to be not so.

I haven't been on Match.com and I'm sure many - if not most - people who have been getting this call have been either. This is just a run-of-the-mill scam trying to squeeze through a loophole in the FCC rules regarding DNC lists. Because surveys are exempt, the scammers insist that it's not a sales call (meaning it is) but that it's for survey purposes (yeah, right!) I received a call from these idiots today at 1237 hrs. Same thing as the others: prerecorded message, short survey about the national debt, "free" 2 day cruise if I do so ("free" meaning I have to pay this, that, and the other fees.)
| LML 2011-10-24 17:16:32 Telemarketer |
I received the same call others have described - a pre-recorded message from "Jennifer" (if I recall correctly) saying "this is not a sales call" (which means it most certainly is, but they're trying to squeeze through a loophole in the DNC rules) asking if I would take a "short survey" regarding the national debt and, for participating, I would receive a "free" 2 day cruise - if I pay port fees and some other charges. Yeah, and I bet they've got a bridge they can sell me too. You have to wonder how many idiots actually fall for this crap. (Call received on 10/24/11 @ 1237 hrs.)
