Called once while I was at work - called the number back and said "you've reached the Bank blah blah - call the 1800 on the back of your card"

Um - don't know what they are talking about because they didn't leave a company name

Same complaint as the messages above.  This phoneline usage clogs the system.  Multiply this by hundreds of other scams and repeat calls and the phone lines are in use for unproductive activity at an alarming rate.
For the time being, just don't pick up the phone. Look at the caller ID.  There is a long list of sources to ignore including Lester Inc. 606-833-0105, NCCS 727-556-5772, Unknown Name 877-642-1263, California 619-502-7256, on and on.
Comments welcome.

It is Citigroup calling about Exxon Mobil.  If you are one day late they start calling.  The Government just bailed out Citigroup instead of being understanding that we the consumers DID NOT GET A FREE BAILOUT the don't care. They just use the bailout money to redecorate the big wigs offices and by jets.

My caller ID show they call a couple times a day with no messages left.  I was home one day and was able to answer.  A person on the other end said I was past due on a card that I know I do not have.  They demanded I verify my personal information with them but would not tell me what info they had on me.  I asked to speak to a supervisor and was transfered to another person that again would not verify any information to me.  When I asked for a number to call him back at he said they can not accept incoming calls and that I had to deal with him then and now or I would be sent to a collection agency.  Soounds like a scam to me.

I just got a new cell # and this number has been calling like 4-6 times per day.  I've tried to call the # back and it tells me to call the number on the back of my card.  Finally, yesterday they left a message which stated it was not a sales call, it was Citicard in regard to my Children's Place acct.  I don't have one but I bet the person who has this cell # before me did.  They told me to call 1-888-279-2426 from 8am-9pm M-F.  I called the # back and asked them to take me off their list, I wasn't the owner of the account.  She said she would.  Try calling the # they gave me to get your # off their list.

I have received numerous calls from this number.  I never answer if I don't know the caller.  Apparently it is a CitiBank auto dialing number attempting to reach credit card holders for retailers like Home Depot.

I have received 4 calls from this number that have told me to hold and then disconnects.  I put it in a search and even though the area code goes back to Texas it comes up to a business in TN.  I sent them an email stating they need to stop harassing me.

Sounds like SCAM to me !!!

I get them all the time, but there is no one on the other line so I hang up.  Try telling them (if you get them on the phone which I am waiting to do) to cease and desist, that the calls are harassing.  It worked with a few companies that call all the time.

They are Citibank representing Mobil credit. I do not answer numbers I do not know, nor would I stay on hold for someone who does not identify themselves.  If the govt. baled them out, they have money - they can be patient with any of us who are unemployed, ill, have no health insurance, or are just down on their luck.  These banks screwed everyone; the govt. bales them out and leaves the rest of us out to dry.  Disgusting!

I get a text message saying that there is a possible unauthorized purchase on my debit card - please call the number on the back of my card to get more details. I call the bank and they have no idea why I would receive a call like that.

These a-holes have been calling me THIS ENTIRE YEAR. I'm about to buy a bullhorn and set it off in the phone every time they call from now on. They always ask for someone I have never even heard of and I'm getting really sick of it.
I don't want to have to change my phone number because I'm not in contact with some of my friends who still have this phone number.

I answered it once, told them I didn't know who the person was, and asked them to remove the phone number, but they only gave up for a few months and now they're back at it again.

It is Citicard retail collections. They handle Rooms to Go, Home Depot, Bedzz Galore, Zales, and many many many more! They call me and place me on hold as soon as I answer. When I am feeling a little on edge I wait for them just to chew them out for putting me on hold like that. Then they ask if I would like to pay my bill and I tell them to call back and not put me on hold and then we can talk. They never call without putting me on hold first.

They've called once a day for the past few days now. I let it go to voicemail and occasionally a recorded message says that they are from Citi Card and that they will try to reach me at another time. I have no Citi Card account. Be aware that this is what is known as a "Phishing" scam. They pretend to be from a legitimate financial firm and they "confirm" all of your information (Name, address, CC#, bank account #, SSN, etc). This is how they steal your identity. Highly illegal, but these calls are most likely internet based and the 972# that shows up on caller ID is most likely faked.

DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR INFORMATION.

They call every day, four or five times a day. If you answer, they ask for your name, but won't tell you who they are before you verify that you are who they are calling for. If you refuse to answer their questions until they tell you who they are, they ignore you asking them who they are and repeat themselves. If you ignore their call, they hang up when they get your voicemail or leave a voicemail that says: "hello. hello. hello?" and then hang up. They even started calling other members of my family that I don't even live with and they do the same thing to them. They ignored my family's requests to never be called again at that number. The number they called that was my family members was never even on my account. So obviously they are going through the phonebook of something. I'm assuming all of this because I was literally a couple days late on a f-ing payment.... I am guessing, because I STILL don't know who this was harassing me.
