Well, I am joining this group of you who have received these calls from difficult to understand East Indian sounding people, as well as suspicious e-mails requesting personal information (SSNs). The call I received yesterday was from a Mithilesh Kumar (210) 568-7484 - AmerSolution (amersolutions.com). I also did research, like some of you, only to find that Adea did exist and has been purchased by Valtech. I even called a number that I found that stated that the 2 people I had received calls/correspondence from do, indeed, work there. Now, today, I have received e-mails from a person named Sevantha Kumar - who was the one requesting my SSN. My suspicion is that, although this appears legit, is yet an elaborate scheme instead. AT&T and Verizon, of all places, would be the last to request PII via the Internet. That's ridiculous at best! Let's keep up to date on this, as it appears it may be quite the crime outfit, right here in our Texas backyard!!!
No SS# from me!

I also got a call from this number yesterday from a woman who I could hardly understand and today from a man with the same accent.  I didnt answer the phone, but I listened to my voicemail.  He said he found my resume on Monster... but I dont have an active one on there, havent for a few years now.  I did get an email from them, saying that there was a position here in Vermont but not where.  I replied simply by saying that I was not interested and to stop calling me. Who knows if that will work and I will stop being called... Ill tell ya one thing though.. If I were to entertain the thought of a job, I would be doing it through a local agency where I could personally go into and talk to them.  No way would I give anyone, no matter who it is, my SS# unless I was directly on that companies website or in person at an interview.  To me, its better to be safe then sorry when it comes to my SS#...

I got a call from the same number, and it was a job recruiter working a call center in India.  He asked for my social security number, and I did not want to give it to him.  I got another call from a number here in Texas from a woman with the same company speaking clear english.  she stated that AT&T requires the ssn to track candidates to prevent multiple entries for the same person.  I checked her number out, and it is legit.

It is a horrible practice to require a ssn number for a pre-interview job applicant.  While I checked them out and I'm sure it is ok, I was very nervous about it. They have since followed up with additional calls researching my work history, and the questions they are asking are legitimate technical skill questions that would not be helpful for identity theft, so it's all legit...  But it is highly questionable that they get ss numbers as part of the process.

AT&T does have a policy of using SS# to track people submitted in their positions. They are the only company I know that requires this up front, but I still wouldn't give that number over the phone. IF this staffing company has an office I would ask to meet there to give them number and ask to see them enter it. At the very lease there is a letter from AT&T that that states their requirement for your SS# to be submitted.

I use to recruit for AT&T and hated having to ask for an SS#

Same experience as most listed here.  Got a call on my cell wanting to email me a job description for a two year contract job.  Woman with a very hard to understand accent, sounded Indian.  Haven't seen the promised email.  If she asked for any other information I didn't get the question as she was almost impossible to understand.

I am replying to my own e-mail and others previous to it.  I did check out the #.  And it is a # connected to Adea Solutions.  Adea Solutions is listed with a profile of the company on CareerBuilder.com.  I still have not received an e-mail from this person and he said to respond in the next 10 minutes.  Where I believe the company is legit, I am not sure the call was, or if it was their method of finding employees makes me uneasy.

I received a call from the # 972-764-1700.  He said he received my information from Careerbuilder.com.  He said he had a contract job offer working with Verizon in Asburn.  He told me he wanted get to my e-mail and respond right away due to the market situation.  He asked for last 5 digits of SS#.  I paused at first.  I am used to someone asking for the last 4 digits.  He read my resume to me.  He had a strong accent.  I told him I would be at the library and would check my e-mail.  He kept saying do it now.  He did not respond. I asked for the company name he said Management staffing solutions based in Dallas Texas.

I recieved a call about a job opportunity at AT&T and since the man asked for my social security at the end of the call, it made me nervous so I told him I would have to call him back later.

I researched the company with the BBB and it is legit.  I think they do things a little differently because they are supposidly an "innovative" staffing agency.  Their people are from India but I did investigate with AT&T and found out it was legit.

I got a call today from a man with a strong accent and I could not hardly understand him regarding a position for an Admin Position with AT&T.  He wanted to confirm information from my resume.  Last he ask for my SS#.  I will not give that to them.  I am looking for a job and have sent resumes on line to various places.  I live in the TN area.  Not sure why they wanted my SS#, I say BEWARE.

Sorry, I want to correct my earlier post but can't seem to edit it. I did get a voicemail from a woman with a strong accent calling from Adea about a job opportunity. She did email me a job description for a job in my area (MA) to the email I have on my resume posted to a couple job boards, so it looks legit.

I had a call from this number left on my voice mail.  She left a message saying they were from some Staffing Agency (I could hardly understand her) seeing if I was interested in an Administrator position.  She had a foreign accent, one I hardly could understand.  I called her back on my cell number since she was calling long distance and I beleive from the TX area. I live in Maryland.  When she answered, she seemed confused I guess since the number that came up she wasn't familiar with. She asked if she could call me back on the number she originally called.  Unfortunately, I gave it to her.  Haven't heard back from her and not sure what the call was all about.  Makes me nervous.
