Ok, its OnStar from General Motors. and to remove yourself from the computer list, call 1-877-805-9074 and tell them your complaint.. and it was a pain figuring it out.

A company Called EDS did own it at one time.. and now Gm has it ported to them.

Calls sometimes 3-4 times a day and night.  Have recieved calls at 4am. When picked up it is a fax machine on the other end

Called the Onstar service and the customer service rep complained about a bad connection.  Called a second time, got same person, and she apologized without explaining more about the calls other than what I understood as a computer generates the numbers on its own.  I noticed her the a call trace of the number calling illegally indicated it was an OnStar computer making 3 AM calls to a business line.  She did not say why they begin at 3 AM and repeat every ten minutes.  Never had OnStar service, never will.

She asked my name but accepted the fact that the purpose of my call was not to offer her company a discovery opportunity do defend against an illegal and improper practice in my state.  My number is already a "don't call" list number.  She took the number the OnStar computer called and the number called from and promised it would stop.

calls at 1 am and other hours when 99% of people are sleeping. Called Onstar 3 times, Filed two complaints with FCC, called Verizon 3 times, blocked the calling numbers all to no avail, the calls continued. The calling number went around the call block Verizon put on my number! I finally had to change my phone number a second time. I absolutely HATE Verizon and Onstar as do many many other customers over this and when you complain about it they get an attitude with you!? I told them to give me their numbers so I could call them at 1 am to see how they like it....and having to change my number because somebody in their company isnt doing their job? what kind of BS is this?

JUST CALL THAT NUMBER AND THEY WILL TAKE CARE OF IT FOR YOU!!!!

I also have been recieving calls from this number 2 times a day...one usually at an odd hour in the middle of the night (last night was 5:09am) and the other call usually at anywhere from 5pm-7pm.  I called the OnStar # given above on Monday and they were very nice and helpful and also informed me that it would take 24 hours.  It didn't work...I still got the phone calls more than 24 hours later.  I called my cellular company (Verizon is mine) and they were able to put something called a "nuisance block" on this number and now I won't have to deal with it anymore.  I tell you what though, I don't have OnStar but this definitely put a bad taste in my mouth even if its not true that its them.

If you call the 877-805-9074, Onstar will answer.  They are very helpful and will get you put on a no-call list.  It takes 24 hours but the phone call is quick and simple.

I was receiving multiple calls from this number on a daily basis for over a week now. Sometimes 3-4 times a day at various times throughout the day. When I answer, there is either silence or a beeping tone. I called the toll free number listed on this blog, turns out it was GM On Star, and told them to remove my number from their database. They asked for my number and name, but I did not provide my name to them. Call me crazy, but I do not believe they need my name to remove my telephone number from a computer database! Is there really more going on here than we know? Guess we'll never know for sure, but it's certainly something to think about, kinda scary to say the least!

ok Ive gone around and around with this one.....The number calling you is GM`s Onstar. Verizon has given all of us recycled phone numbers that previously belonged to people who had the Onstar system in their vehicles. Onstar`s system automatically tries to contact the customers equipment to give it updates and will continue to do so until it connects with it, so you will continue to get the annoying calls usually at 1 am or some other inconvenient time. I tried everything to no avail. I spoke with supervisors at Onstar 3 times, I reported them to the FCC, I called Verizon and had the two numbers blocked...all a waste of time, the calls continued. I changed my phone number yesterday as a last resort, its the only thing you can do. Now I have morons calling me at 3 am asking for Tyrone.....Verizon doesnt give one rats a** about its customers and has the worst customer service of any cellular carrier, get used to it

Yep, recently about four days ago this same number (972-797-6421) started calling my cell phone. I also have verizon. It's very annoying getting a phone call from them at 4 am. Sometimes I get this phone call twice a day to three times a day, not understanding why! I just never answer it! I do agree that it needs to stop!

Just called On-Star who apparently owns this number to complain about ongoing incoming calls from 972-797-6421 received in the middle of the night starting 1-17-09 at 3AM.  They said they were sorry and would remove my cell number within 24 hours.  4 nights of lost sleep and they are sorry!!!!!  They knew they were having a problem since May 08 according to the comments listed on this site........guess it just hasn't been a priority for them to resolve the problem since its been going on at least 9 months.

I AM A SENIOR AND GET CALLS DAY AND NIGHT AT ANY TIME FROM THIS NUMBER.  IT IS SO ANNOYING AND IRRITATING.  IF I CALL THEM RIGHT BACK IT SAYS IT'S DISCONNECTED OR NO LONGER IN SERVICE.  CALLED VERIZON AND IT DIDN'T HELP AT ALL BUT DID CONTACT ONSTAR AT 877/805-9074 WITH WONDERFUL RESULTS AS WELL AS A SYMPATHETIC AND HELPFUL ASSISTANT...USE THEM AND FORGET ABOUT VERIZON HELPING DESPITE IT BEING THE CARRIER FOR MY PHONE NUMBER.  NOT CRAZY ABOUT HAVING THIS NEW LITTLE BITTY PHONE ANYHOW AND THIS MADE IT WORSE!

Folks, it seems like A LOT of you are simply making posts without reading any of the prior posts.  The answers to all your questions are up above and on prior pages of this thread.

Take the time to read these posts, then call OnStar.  Give them your cell phone number, the number that keeps calling, and if all goes well, you'll stop getting these calls in about 24 hours.

i just got my new verizon phone in november. That strange number always calls and leaves beeping noises,and voice mails. Iam going to try to block the number. I tried calling them back but it was disconected.

same with me...it's been going on for a week at all hours on the day--and night!!!

I found out it is OnStar, our friends at General Motors, scumbags....call 877 805 9074 to get removed from their system......what low-life moron would have a fax machine calling cellphone numbers at 2 am? only general motors!! I am reporting them to the FCC

calls several times a day, even after 11 pm EST, have been ignoring, but this time (Sunday, aprox 3:45pm) answered, it sounded like a weird fax machine sound, must be computer generated.  Can't find a way to block it, I have Verizon and only use my phone to call my husband and emergency use.
VERY OBNOXIOUS.  Problem is now that people are getting away from landline, using cell phone exclusively, this type of offense will only increase.  Just ignore them I guess.

the calls at all hours of the night and continuous beeps! if you have verizon dial *611 and ask them to have the phone number blocked....the calls will stop.

Same story for me, and same resolution by calling the OnStar help line (note that it's a daytime & weekend number, not a 24/7 number).

I bought 5 new cellphones under a family plan for Christmas, and started getting these calls a week ago at all hours of the night: 2am, 5am, 6am, 12am.  Very annoying!  Did a quick phone search on 972-797-6421 on Live.com and found this thread.  Two thumbs up!

I just called OnStar at 1-877-805-9074.  The friendly support person apologized repeatedly and promised to escalate my ticket to ensure that the calls would stop within 24 hours.

You'd think that in a deep recession GM would be looking to reign in unnecessary costs like paying for long distance calls to folks who aren't even paying customers of OnStar...call me "Old School" but this issue seems to be tailor made for a hulking giant like GM.

I am getting regular calls from this number on my new cell phone.  It's also a prepaid phone, and I am in a library frequently, and they are wasting my inutes and causing interruptions and embarrassments.

Noone answers and it's really making me mad, I got a new version phone also.  I researched the area code and it's from Dallas, Texas

Same problem.  Saved the phone number to contacts as DO NOT ANSWER.  Then set the ringtone for that number to silent, and vibrate to No.
