these weirdos call my parents several times....my dad finally answered.  the caller asked is this "said my dad's name" and then said I have one thing to say...good bye! then caller hung up.  The caller id showed FOP TX.  I have no idea what to think.

This is a scam to get money for contributions for your police.  Thinking its a charity donation you are making, you would be wrong.  The person you think is calling is not a human.  Congratulations.  You are talking to a synthetic computer voice that is created to answer certain questions by picking up on key words in your question.  If you talk to the computer and it can't register any of the words in its library with an answer then it hangs up on you until it wants to dial you again.  If you notice each time the answer comes to you, you can detect a small break or click.  This is the computer switching on the recorder to record your credit card info or anything else you say.  Beware..Scammers and Frauds!!!

they called me and ask for me by my first name.when i ask who they were they hung up.

This goes in cycles - they call for a while and then go away and then come back...contact your State's PUC and report - don't give a rip if they are a for profit or a non-profit, if you ask them to remove your name from their call lists they are obligated to do so and not give you the "silent treatment".

They call repeatedly. I have blocked several of their numbers, including this one.

i tried calling them and pressing 1 to be removed from their list, hopefully that worked.

Calls often and is an annoience.  I never answer, because I have caller ID, but the times they call is most annoying.

I do not appreciate a scam call and want it to stop

we have ask several times for calls to be stopped. we are old and do not wish to be bothered. if this is all you have to keep busy you should get a real job and leave people alone.you have been reported for haressment please stop calling. you should at least say something when you bother people.  shirley

got a call from this number 5:32PM May 17, 2012  donation for police . i get this call several times a year and tell them to remove me and i am on the texas and national do not call list . i tell them NO and I pay my taxes and that is more than enough , click

Just received the call from 972-829-6072, recorded voice replied "Fraternal Order of Police" Not being familiar with orginazation, and having received several scam calls, I asked to repeat who they were, again the SAME recording, word for word and same pronounciation. Suspecting a scam, I again asked who they represented, they then hung up on me. I googled the FOP TX and learned about the real orginazation but was still confused about the way the call went and the fact that they hung up on my asking for more info. Googled the phone number and now here I am. You would think that the real FOP would investigate and get the Texas Attorney General involved. You would think by now, this scam would appear on local TV programs as some others have. I know it is a scam, I receive quite alot of similiar calls and try to keep them on the line as long as possible to make their profits lower and possibly learn more to be able to report more.

Same thing happened at our home about an hour ago. Saw the number on the screen from FOP and didn't know who it was so I picked up the phone and said hello. There was a computerized voice that asked for Linda, my wife, so I said she was having dinner, the phone went silent and no one ever came on line. Did the reverse call thing on www.whitepages.com and they wanted a $ 1.90 for the info, so blew them off. Typed the number for the FOP into Google and was brought to 800notes.com and what a nice experiance.

By the way we have our phones on Do Not Call lists and it doesn't help..

recieved a call from 972 829 6072 this morning. I told them that a Sheriff  in a town we used to live told us not to give to any org that calls. we did  give to the local lawenforsement but they sent thru the mail with a list of where the money went and pictures from our local police and sheriff's departments.  I am on the do not call list and I don't know how they get around that but they manage.

I RECEIVED A CALL , CALLER ID SAID "FOP, TX"  CALLER ASKED FOR ME BY NAME, WHEN I RESPONDED THAT I WAS SHERRY, CALLER HUNG-UP.

I am receiving calls from this phone number, 972-829-6072, as well. I have answered it several times and don't get an answer.  I just didn't answer it today.  I am wondering if the FOP is being headed up by the former crooks running the "Texas Highway Patrol Association" - which got shut down in late 2011 - by the Texas Attorney General.

I hope we can find some way to stop this stuff.  We gave money one time to the Texas Highway Patrol Assn, and after reading about them we refused them when they called in the future - and they were VERY rude and demeaning.  If experience tells me anything, this FOP is probably the same type of organization.  Beweare!!

This organization keeps calling my cell phone.  I have a do not call order on my phone.  This is a total scam.  What can be done to stop them?

these people keep calling my number, I find messages on my machine, all they will say is
'is the lady of the house in'.  then they hang up.
its bordering on harrassment now.  how do I get them to stop calling ??

I mst get 4 calls a day from this company and that was after I answered one of them and told them I am not working and I am unable to donate at this time. Besides that I already am aware of the fact that most of the money donated never reaches the organization and I would not donate through this vehicle anyway.  I would call the organization direct and donate that way if I was going to make a donation.

This is a FOR-PROFIT company called Corporations for Character.  They are a fundraising organization that the FOP uses to raise money.  Be aware that only about 18-20% of your donation actually goes to the FOP.  There are more legitimate ways to donate to the FOP (if you desire to support them) where you can ensure that the majority of the donation supports police survivors and other legitimate activities.

Also note that the FOP does not exist in every city so you might want to contact your local police or sheriff's office to find out what benevolent organization exists locally to support your local law enforcement.

In my opinion, having been in law enforcement for almost 18 years, is that this is not a good way to donate money to support the FOP.  Anytime legitimate fundraising company should never take more than 20% of profits and even the Better Business Bureau would tell you that 20% is too high.

Look, the bottom line is this, I could care less if the FOP ever gets a single cent!!!!! The call my home constantly and now they have started with my cell phone.

I am a prior Deputy/Police Officer and it is absolutely insulting to have to think that this organization does not perform a due diligence on the pricks the hire to call and harass the public.

I hope every Law Enforcement Officer in the country sees this message. First of all, you are public servants. You are the extended arm of the judicial system to protect the people and enforce the law of your community. You should never partake in any activity that is demeaning to the high caliber of morals that an officer should maintain.

After reading that, every Law Enforcement Officer should complain to the FOP.

As for the telemarketers that plague the public with these harassing phone calls, your day will come. In fact, each one of you should brag to people in public places about your job. That way, those that want to show you some love in return for those phone calls can. And maybe some more...

Caller ID said "FOP Texas" (Fraternal Order of Police).  Person who spoke when I answered the phone said "Corporations for Character, this is Ray".  I asked to be removed from the list and I recieved silence and that was it.  I have been getting many calls from these folks from all different numbers.
