Whoever actually owns this number now (still in TX), claims to have a local job for you.  In my case, they are using a supposed job opening, which coincides with another part-time company, Collabra.  About a year ago, I received a dozen phone calls from a temp. agency in NJ, Collabra.  I checked them out and it appears they use a bait and switch.  They promise you this great job with HP (If your resume is in the IT field) starting at $25.xx per hour.  That job never pans out.  How do I know?  Because a different person called me each time, over the course of 6 months with the SAME job offer.  I didn't get the name of the new company that called from 9728296077, but they are offering the exact same job position at HP.  Bottom line.... SCAM!!!

Almost daily I have a call on caller ID from TX FOP 972-829-6077. Glad to check that others have received it also. I have a severe hearing loss and use Relay Texas to make my calls and I thought maybe it was an incoming call from them.

Caller ID showed this number as "LEWISVILLE TX".

They claim association with police in effort to intimidate you the victims into donating money. Some people think that if they do not give some money, the local police would know and be given a bad reputation.   These FOP scammers are in no way associated with any law enforcement or any ethical person. These are slime that rather steal than work for a living.  All police are funded by your tax dollars NOT any private donations!
FOP rot in hell!

Here's what's annoying about these a$$holes who call themselves the fraternal order of police:

(1) The majority of the money they raise is spent on the telemarketer that raises funds.
(2) They call from multiple numbers and if you block one, they just call from another.
(3) Their website says you can 'donate' but the IRS pulled their 501-(c)-3 designation because almost none of the funds raised are used for valid charitable purposes.
(4) no matter how many times you ask they will not take you off their list

Answered phone and caller said: "Collect call from an inmate in the Harris County Jail."  I immediately hung up the phone and notice my caller ID said: 972-829-6077 TX FOP.

I have had several calls from the above according to my caller ID.

Please stop these kind of annoying senseless calls.

received a call from this # yesterday.  Didn't answer. I never answer call from area codes that don't have some relevance to me.

i have gotten a call from these people also, but did not answer until i could check it out here.  for people reading these posts and receiving these annoying calls, you can put a stop to them!  panasonic now makes a landline series of phones that have a CALL BLOCK feature on them. y'all should check them out!

This is a telemarketing call for the Texas Fraternal Order of the Police.  They are trying to collect for their officers' fund.  They claim to be an actual police officer on the line, but it isn't.  It's a company that they have hired to make the calls for them!!  They won't stop and it is almost impossible to get them to take your info off their list.

Always harrassing me, day or night.

Receiving calls from this number in the evenings. Just started a few days ago. Why haven't the authorities put a stop to this harrassment?

I reported these scammers to the FCC, including the information I found here.

Told them not to call me again, or I will report them to the authorities.

Didn't seem to have any effect on them.

Getting phone calls from this number 2-3 times a week. How can I get them to stop?

Scammers trying to represent a Fraternal order of police.  No one has ever heard of them and they are a scam, don't give them anything.

I have told them NO over and over, hung up on them, and still they keep calling.  It sounds very much like a threat when they ask for money.  I am on the no-call list, but it doesn't seem to be working for this outfit.  They call at the time my elderly Father is napping and wake him up.  I hope someone can stop them.

I too keep getting calls from this number, TX FOP. i have an answering machine and they have never left a message on it. i never answer calls when i see its from a 800 numbe or out of state call. shows that Scammers will try anything to rip off someone for their own benifit. hope they're reported to the attorney general or BBB and shut down before some one looses their life savings or any money at all.

This number calls on a regular basis. Since we have a policy that we do not answer calls when we do not recognize the number, the get no satisfaction. In the old days, "TX FOP" would call up trying to sell you tickets for the Policemen's Ball, a fundraiser. To be honest, I don't know if any such thing ever existed. They would be very pushy and not take 'no' for an answer. If this is the same as the old TX FOP, or if this is a scam, or one and the same, they get the same response. Nothing.

SCAM, never donate to this on the phone!

The scammer keeps calling me every week. I am on the national and state do no call lists! The Snow posting is obviously from one of the scammers.  The caller identify hisself as associated with the police in effort to intimidate the caller into donating money. That can really scare some unsuspecting citizens so you can see why they use that.  Real police funding comes from your taxes, NOT donations!

I have donated to them in the past, some 10 years ago until I discovered they are a SCAM. After you give them something they will give your number out to 20 other goups of thieves claiming to be collecting for everything from the secrect service to the dog cather. When they call make sure you say NO! and TAKE ME OFF YOUR CALL LIST OR I WILL REPORT YOU!! You will have to talk fast before they can hang up.

You may think they do alot of good for the police....But since they are ruthless on the phone, rude & obnoxious also very, very, pushy trying to make me feel SO guilty, that they have made me feel I no longer need to give to a charity that treats people in this matter. I did give to them years ago but they would call on Sundays (that is very rude) and try to intimidate me to give more. I do not give any more to charities of any kind due to how rude they become after the first few years of donations. That is what my tax dollars are for.

These people just called me. A man asked, "Is the lady of the house in?" To which I responded, "This is she, what can I do for you?" And he hung up. My number is not listed. In fact, I use Vonage and very few (perhaps 3 people) call on this number. So, I called them back and got an automated female voice directing me to push this or that number. I followed along and pushed the number to put me on their Do Not Call List. You have to listen carefully because they try to trick you towards the end, but pay attention and you'll get on the supposed list. It is the Texas Fraternal Order of Police, whoever they are. If they call again, which my number should be removed within 72 hours, I'll be sure to make it clear I'm not interested.

They keep calling and it scares me as to why they are calling I wish they would stop. Not answering this calls anymore.

When they call, just ask them,
"Oh, so you're the fake charity that the Police Dep't warns people not to donate to, right?"
They usually hang up on me.
