I received a call from 972-889-7061 this morning and there was nobody on the line. I have VOIP which gives me the ability to block this number from calling in the future (a very handy feature!)

Received a call from this number on my work phone. I check the message and it was dead air. Thought I would do a quick look thinking it could be one of our employees who changed a cell number and accidentally pressed silent on their phone when speaking. Glad I came accross this site prior to calling back.

Received calls twice today from this number. They hung up the first time and then asked for me by my last name the second time. When I responded "This is Mrs.________________ they hung up. I question whether it is someone trying to see if someone is home.

Received a call yesterday from a girl said she was my oldest granddaughter and she was in Mexico involved in an accident and needed $1800.00 but didn't want me to say anything to anybody. I really believed this was our granddaughter just glad we didn't have the money to send her. I just hope I get another call from this number because I think it would be the last.

Got a call tonight from this number. Same thing. The man had a strong Indian accent and told me he was with Microsoft in New York and that their servers were receiving alert messages from my computer that my computer had a virus. He wanted me to grant him access to my computer, while I supposedly watched him, to remove the virus. I told the guy he was crazy and I was not giving him anything and hung up. Your computer does not send alerts to Microsoft when it gets a virus. This is a scam and never ever give them any info or ever give them access to your computer.

Received a call this morning from this number. Caller ID only showed "Dallas, TX". A man with a foreign accent said something about "Amazon", but the connection was so bad that I couldn't understand what he was saying. He said he would call back, but he didn't (thankfully). I do shop at Amazon and wondered if it was pertaining to a recent purchase, but after reading these reports, I'm glad I never understood him.

I got a call from this number and let the machine answer it. It was a recording that was very broken up, couldn't understand a word of it.

My grandmother received a phone call on 6/28/13 from this number around 8 pm. The man had a very heavy Indian accent and said he was from Microsoft. Saying she had error messages and that she needed to let him have access to her computer to fix the problems. He told her that she needed to buy this software to fix her error problems. When she finally said that this is ridiculous he began to yell at her and got very rude. She finally just hung up. Don't fall for these jerks scam. This poor old lady shouldn't have to deal with BS like this. Someone needs to stop these people. So much stress and pain has been put upon my grandmothers plate. This is horrible.

This is a SCAM! Debt collector scam! I am attaching the link to the article to tell you exactly what these people do! I spent my entire day yesterday sorting through their crap! They even used caller id spoofing to make numbers look like they're coming in from your local courthouse! I called the courthouse and they told me about this scam! Tell them nothing! You will regret it! Please read the following attachment!

Got a call yesterday and guy said he was from microsoft. At that point i knew this was the old "you have a virus" scam. I asked him if his mother knows he's a scammer and why didn't he get an honest job. Guy was highly irate and denied being a thief. I hung up. They called again today, but just heavy breathing.

I was called twice. They identified themselves as being from Tech Mahendra, an Indian computer contracting company and that I had a problem with my windows PC. When I insisted that they tell me WHICH computer, they got angry and hung up on me. This is obviously a scam to get access to your personal computer. DO NOT TALK TO THEM!!!

Received a call from a man telling me that there was a problem w/my computer. Would not give him any information, told him not to call back again and hung up. First time he called it came up on caller ID as UNKNOWN w/the no. 982-889-7061. Maybe 2 minutes later my phone rang again, coming up on caller ID as Out of area and no number and it was the same man asking me why I hung up on him. Gave the phone to my husband who asked this man what he wanted and the man then hung up on my husband.

Got a call from this number and it was a local - to me - 972 number. I could tell it was an international call because of the delay in response and the echo on the line. The caller had a thick Indian accent and said he was calling about my computer and how it needed repairs because it had been reporting to Microsoft that I had errors on it. What is funny is that he called my house and even though I have Windows computers at my office I only have Mac's - well my wife does - at our house. So, I don't know how he would have gotten that information. I told him that no reports had been made, it was none of his damn business what went on with my computers and he tried to argue with me. It was fun with the echo. So, I just hung up. No call backs so far.

A male with a thick indian or similar accent called at 8:25am and asked for me by first and last name. He said he was from the computer maintenance department and wanted to talk to me about my computer. I said that sounds very generic. What company are you from? He says 'uhh what?'. I said, it sounds very misleading. click... he hung up. I tried to call the number back from caller id and a fax machine answered. Seems like a phishing scam. I could imagine if he got someone that believed the story, a person might give passwords or follow instructions to go download some malicious file and run it. Don't be fooled people.

Got the same phone call today but it was from a different set of numbers. Foreign accented male said that they were from Microsoft and that my computer had a bunch of errors and warnings. HACKERS!!!! DO NOT LET THEM FOOL YOU!! I had to go in and change everything on my computer. Thank goodness I didn't have anything downloaded on it, only pictures. When I hung up on them, they called me right back and started yelling at me demanding that I pay 199.99 for 2 yrs of securiety, 299.99 for 5 yrs or 399.99 for lifetime security.

I just got a call from this number. Heavy accent, hard to understand. Someone else here got the scam I did - my computer was infected and I should go to it, go online and he'd tell me how to fix it. I said he could just give me the steps and I'll correct it later. He said, "It's pretty complicated." I said, "And I'm pretty smart." He hung up. I, too, think this is pure evil.

A call from 972-889-7061 was left on our answer machine at 8:29 AM of May 23rd. It was identified only as DALLAS TX. Woman with accent said hello 2 or 3 tomes then hung up. We get calls from this number frequently. Most often they hang up as soon as they hear us say hello.
Once, a woman with foreign accent told me of problems with windows. I told her that I know it's a SCAM as warnings of it have been on the local news. Then my wife got on the phone, told the woman the same, and told her we are on two No Call lists and to take our number off their calling list. As I remember, it was the very next day they called again. Almost every day now that they call at least once.

Got the call twice, each time he asked for the phone's owner and then claim to be from the Financial Institution of the Americas and said that the government had decided to give me free money as long as I could confirm me email address, primary bank and phone number. Asked who he was really with and said the Bank of the Americas Government. Total scam and when I pointed this out he hung up.

I just got a call from the 972 number, if I don't know the number I answer and immediately hangup and google the number. Another scammer scum it sounds like, from reading all of these posts, and these numbers will get forwarded to the FTC. I'm waiting for the day that the FTC calls and asks why I forward all of these calls..... I can't wait!
