Whether you are called a debtor or some collector thinks you can flush one out, you have rights and options. Many are simple to exercise if you only learn how. You are entitled to proof of claim and fair treatment. If you get neither, the collection agency should *not* win your assets. You are granted control of how you are contacted, the right to dispute debt claims, and the means to sue violators at low cost. The FTC and the CFPB can start you on your homework. See also if your state laws grant additional or stronger rights.

You had to call your own boss to ask what your job is? Who then in your words purged by Admin is "the most ignorant person on this thread" now?

We've been over this already. A payday loan is still *A LOAN*, not a "hot check". A defaulted PDL is not "wire fraud". Owing consumer debt is NOT A CRIME. Use of extortionist tactics to collect *should* be a crime. For now we have the FDCPA and state variants which *do apply* to *ALL CONSUMER DEBTS, INCLUDING PAYDAY LOANS*.

(Sorry for the excessive capitals, readers, but some brains respond only to shouting. Off to report to Admin now ....)

Folks what they are calling about is not covered under FDCPA law, I called them after reading these numerous reports. The crimes they are accusing people of "Bank Wire Fraud" stems from obtaining the loans illegally by falsifying the fields on the application for these loans. These are criminal charges and they are offering the people a way to settle this out of court.

It is illegal for them to threaten arrest over a debt. You should report them to law enforcement immediately.
File reports with the FBI, your state attorney general and Department Of Justice,FTC & FCC..

Debt Collector
Yes...a Lydia Baker called me threatening me (in a message) as a "person of interest in a criminal investigation" in my county and that I should call her back and refer to "felony number..." blah blah blah..  I called her back and told her she will eventually wish she had never called me with that bs and that she didn't frighten me but when I was done with her, she would wish she had never heard my name.  She hung up on me and then when I tried to call her back she wouldn't answer.

Debt collectors who try this type of tactic piss me off in the worst way.  Any one of us who has lived long enough to be in debt one way or the other clearly knows what to expect from debt collectors.  Further, if my "county" was looking for me...they wouldn't be using her services out of Texas.  I have done some research and there is no business called Law Offices of Legal Mediation in the state of Texas (per the Secretary of the state), her number is not listed and if you reverse look up the number, you can kind of get an idea where she (they) is calling from.  I checked it out and it looks like a little town...a little house in some ghetto in Texas which fits because that's just how she sounds.

Running up on me with her foolishness?!!!  She is going to wish she would have waited!  Nice try lady, but the gig is up!
