This is an energy broker (who won't identify themselves) who is trying to get you to switch over from PSEG or JCPL.  I, too, receive 5 or more calls per day from this number, and I, too, am on the Do Not Call Registry.  Sometimes they call me about my "current bill with PSEG".  Sometimes they call me about my "current bill with JCPL.  That should tell you something.

When you try to talk to a rep to get your number removed, they will ask for your account number.

NEVER GIVE ANY ACCOUNT NUMBER OR EVEN YOUR NAME TO ANYONE COLD CALLING YOU.  ANY LEGITIMATE COMPANY THAT YOU ALREADY DO BUSINESS WITH ALREADY HAS YOUR NAME AND ACCOUNT NUMBERS, AND WILL NEVER ASK YOU TO PROVIDE THESE THINGS.  IF SOMEONE ASKS YOU FOR THIS TYPE OF INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE, IT IS A SCAM.

Furthermore, whoever these people are, they at times try to misrepresent themselves as PSEG or JCPL to gain your trust (they are NOT PSEG or JCPL; again, they refuse to identify who they are).

This is a shady scam.  Just look at the phone number:  973-189-5635.  The prefix is 189.  I'm pretty sure that the prefix is supposed to start with any digit that is 2 through 9, but a prefix starting with 1 is not legitimate.  Think about it.  Have you ever known of a phone number, whether in the 973 area code or any other area code in the United States, where the prefix starts with a 1?  I don't think so.  This is why when you try to call this phone number, "Your call can not be completed as dialed."  It seems, you can't trace this number to any actual identity, and that is probably how this entity, whoever/whatever it is, is getting around the Do Not Call Registry.

Obviously, this is not a legitimate company if they are using deceitful practices to get around the Do Not Call Registry, misrepresenting themselves as PSEG or JCPL, and don't even have legitimate phone numbers.

These all have the same complaints attached to them.  "Calls multiple times a day."  "Won't leave a message."  "Energy broker trying to get me to switch."  

Again, notice that all the prefixes begin with a 1.  158, 138, 149, etc. etc.

I live in NY and get at least one call a day on my caller ID.  I never answer my phone anyway (Thank God or answering machine technology!) but I did call back and, as others have stated, the number is not in service. Several of you have also stated the do-not-call registry is BS. That is SO true.  I did, however, read about new legislation being introduced to help end the annoyance.  We can only hope............................

Another change your electric company robocall. They call from a number of different numbers. Answer your phone they are the ones doing wrong and hang up if you are not interested!

I live in NJ.  These people call me EVERYDAY!  Sometimes two or three times.  It's a good thing I'm not at home much.  My cat must be listening to the phone ring a lot.  If this is a legit business I would find that very ahrd to believe.  What real business spends ALL DAY harrassing people with pointless phone calls where they leave no message.  Not to mention most folks have jobs, so a legit business would not be calling at these weird times - just as if they hope to scam sn elderly person at home during the day.  Aaargh.

I tragically get these RIDICULOUS calls all the time PRETENDING to be about "discounts on my PSE&G bill" - however, like everyone else, I do not HAVE PSE&G!!! So what do they call ABOUT then???? If you call BACK the numbers are not even in service!!!!

We've answered this number and it's PSE&G about our bill, when we are not a PSE&G customer.

"New Jersey" is allegedly on the other end of the line. Why should I answer? I can't think of a reason. The Do Not Call rules are obviously too lax and need to be strengthened.

Called it back.  This number is not in service.  Obvious scam.
