They call 5x per day. My caller id says CHE Dept. They never leave a message, very annoying. Why call so many times and not even leave one stinkin message.

Calls come in everyday,  several times a day.
Im at a point I might just disconnect the landline.
Not to mention i'm on the do not call list.

I read your post, and am currently receiving the same phone calls that you are describing. I am also a victim of identity theft, and have been receiving similar, harassing and strange phone calls for over 18 months. I have changed my home phone number 4 times (all unlisted) and cell phone numbers and carriers a total of 13 times. It seems no matter what I do I receive phone calls all day long from numbers that are all listed on the web as bothersome and harassing. As I read through everyone's post, I wonder if anyone else is a victim of identity theft and if the criminals are using these phone calls as part of their scheme.

You mentioned that you are receiving calls from phone numbers that don't exist... the 973-1XX-XXXX. Through my experience, I've learned that current technology allows for essentially anyone with $5-$10 to "fake" phone calls from ANY number, including your own. I fear for anyone receiving strange phone calls that they could wind up in a mess like my own. That being said, given that identity theft is the fastest growing crime in the US, I feel that everyone should protect themselves, whether it be through Lifelock or any other company that monitors your credit. I say this only because I wish I had protected myself.... and again, I have no proof that these calls are at all related to identity theft.... but I started receiving the calls around the same time that my identity was stolen.

keep calling every day several times a day ... so annoying , last call was today an hour ago and i was so rude answering them not to call and they are annoying my family .. hope this will help stopping their calls ... don't know what else to do ..

They call several times a day. When you pick up the phone nobody answers. This is very disruptive, intrusive and just down right annoying! There has to be a way to make this stop!!

MY CALLER ID SAYS   CHE. THE CALLS COME AT LEAST 5 TIMES A DAY. VERY ANNOYING.

Call forwarded to my cell from my landline...have been getting numerous calls from different numbers all related to power bills or service ever since Super Storm Sandy rocked the east coast.  Put on call reject and an android app called Blacklist (which works really, really well).  Will continue to block until they give up.

They have figured how to get around the Optimum call block by listing the name as "unknown". The call then gets through.  Optimum is pretty useless when you try to tell them and said they can't do much about it.

If you have OPTIMUM - Just block it on the list.

Does anyone know what to do if you call the number, but they can't help because they are not your provider? The man I spoke to was very nice and said he's been getting a lot of calls about these numbers, but he couldn't help me because I have a different carrier. I called my carrier, Verizon, and they said they couldn't do anything to help me.

I have the same problem as many of you. I am getting non-stop calls all day from 973.241.4395, 973.929.3294-which says Discount Center, or a 206 area code number. How can I begin to stop this? It's an intrusion. How does being on the Do Not Call list allow these people to call?

Calling the number that irrate gave does get you a live person who is helpful.  Let's see if the call stop.

I come home from work to 6-10 messages on my machine that are all "hang-ups" from "Discount Center," "Energy Bill," "Power Bill," "Unavailable," "Free Offer," "New Jersey," or "Utility Supply."  SO ANNOYING!!

PLEASE CALL these people to complain!!!  The person I spoke with is Kimberly and the only thing she can do is email request your number to her customers to have them remove it.  She will not divulge the names of her customers without court order!!!  All the 20+ numbers are all stemming from 2 of their customers she said.  I honestly do not think these calls will stop without a class action lawsuit!!!

This people keep calling!! I block the number and the call on another, block that one and they call on another. How can this be legal?

This number 973-241-4395 comes up on the caller ID as "Bernardsville, NJ".  Calls 4 or 5 times a day each and every day, will not stop.  I called the Federal Trade Commission at 877-382-4357 to report what they have been doing.  I suggest you do the same so an investigation can be launched.  This number was identified as a scammer/fraudster, and was reported 13 times

yes i get 10 calls a day from this number, it is quite annoying all it says is Bernardsville.....just stupid!
