Douche canoes calling again about security services. They are scam artists, folks. Block their calls; they have no legitimate business or reason to call other than lining their own pockets.

Robo call about placing a sign, alarm system, etc. An actual person came on line "Tyler with GE Home Security". When asked if they were General Electric, he said yes. When asked why GE was calling people on the no call list, he said there were different no call lists and it was confusing. When told I have been on the national no call list for over 14 years, he hung up.

I just received a  robocall from this number.  Some dumb@ss woman said that the FBI says I will be a victim of a robbery, and that I need to install their security system.   This is a different number than the one they usually call from.    I hereby put a curse on this woman (and her co-workers) that they all die a sudden, painful death.

You all obviously have caller ID.  The solution is simple.  If everyone would simply stop answering any call they do not recognize then this type of scamming would go away.

11-23-2013 @ 1:34 PM, 973-273-7840, CLIENT SERVICES = I let answering machine take the call, and when it finished message, they just hung up.  Based on internet search, call came from Newark, New Jersey, and blogs say they're trying to sell you a security system, or put a sign in your yard, etc.  Nothing but a d*** scammer!  New number according to my log.  They will be reported to State Attorney General.  I'm on the DNC listings, but that's a useless exercise.  Scammers pay no attention to DNC.  I'd still like to stick a double barrel shotgun up their butts and blow their brains out!

This thread is all over the place for identifying who it actually is.  If  the caller ID "Client Services" is meaning "Client Services Inc.", They are another bellycrawling third party debt collector out of Missouri.

This number 973-273-7840 Client Services on Caller ID, calls on 11-14-13 in the a.m.  I had my answering machine on and no message was left.
I am also on the no call list, but it doesn't seem to matter.  The calls keep coming anyway.  Apparently these people are supposed to check the no call list first, but it seems that they don't.

I used to get these SAME scam calls about 'security systems' from "401" (Rhode Island) area code numbers.  Looks like the CROOKS have friends and relatives in New Jersey!  In those days I used to answer these calls (NOT ANYMORE!).  They would claim to be offering a "FREE GE (as in General Electric)" security system.  Seems they don't do that anymore; they probably got sued by GE!  Too bad that didn't stop them entirely.

Anyway, THERE IS NO FREE ANYTHING!  You KNOW its a SCAM when they even offer anything 'free'!!!

This is possibly connected to the VERY REAL "IRS" **SCAM** that is going around the ENTIRE COUNTRY right now.  The following article was published in the BERKSHIRE EAGLE Newspaper on November 7, 2013:

PITTSFIELD - The Internal Revenue Service has issued an alert about a sophisticated nationwide telephone scam that is targeting taxpayers, including recent immigrants.

Victims are told they owe money to the IRS and it must be paid promptly through a pre-loaded debit card or wire transfer [a clue that this is a scam.]  If the victim refuses to cooperate, they are then threatened with arrest, deportation, or suspension of a business or driver's license.  In many cases, the caller becomes hostile and insulting.

"This scam has hit taxpayers in nearly every state in the country," said IRS Acting Commissioner Danny Werfel in a statement.  "We want to educate taxpayers so they can help protect themselves.  Rest assured, we do not and will not ask for credit card numbers over the phone, nor request a pre-paid debit card or wire transfer."
"If someone unexpectedly calls claiming to be from the IRS and threatens police arrest, deportation or license revocations if you don't pay immediately, that is a sign that it really isn't the IRS calling."

Werfel noted that the first [legitimate] IRS contact with taxpayers on a tax issue is likely to occur via mail.

Other characteristics of this scam include:
- Scammers use fake names and IRS badge numbers.  They generally use common names and surnames to identify themselves. (GET and WRITE DOWN THEIR NAMES and BADGE NUMBERS to submit to Police and federal authorities, if possible.)
- Scammers may be able to recite the last four digits of a victim's Social Security number.
- Scammer spoof the IRS toll-free number on caller ID to make it appear that it's the IRS calling.
- Scammers sometimes send bogus IRS emails to some victims to support their bogus calls.
- Victims hear background noise of other calls being conducted to mimic a call site.
- After threatening victims with jail time or driver's license revocation, scammers hang up and others soon call back pretending to be from the local police or the Department of Motor Vehicles, and the caller ID [spoofed] supports their claim.

WHAT TO DO---
Consumers who receive a phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS should call (800) 829-1040.
If you know you don't owe taxes or have no reason to think that you owe any taxes call and report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at (800) 366-4484.
Those targeted by this scam should also contact the Federal Trade Commission and use their "FTC Complaint Assistant" at FTC.gov.  Please add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments of your complaint.

After four blessedly quiet days with NO Calls, they've started up again.

Like others, Caller ID said "CLIENT SERVICES" (as in "We are TELEMARKETERS calling in service to our 'Client' who PAID us to BUG YOU.")  ROBOCALL.  No message.

Looked at number quickly and wasn't sure if it was our Health Insurance which called several times in Sept.(has a 97*6* area code) and I hung up on them, thinking it was spam!  So, let THIS one go to ans. machine; so NOW these CROOKS knows they have a live number and I'm sure the call rate will increase.  DAMN IT!  Cannot "WIN."
