Warranty company. Choose 1 to speak to live person, 9 to remove your number. 973-643-8524 is disconnected used to mask the scammer's real telephone number.
You're charged minutes to your mobile cell and automatically signed up for $19.99 "service fee" - Complain to your cellular telephone provider to have charges removed.

It's rather annoying!!

I got a call the other day and since I didn't recognize the area code, let it go to voicemail. They did not leave a message, which made me suspicious. I googles the area code and found it was New Jersey. I have gotten so many of these calls lately!

I have received many of these types of calls. They seem to call from a number of different numbers. I finally decided to just answer the phone one of the times they called. Upon answering I was advised to press 1 to talk to a person. I press 1 and it rang many times before anyone picked up. Finally some one answered and requested the make, model and year of my car. I told them 94 Pontiac Grand Am. I guess they didn't like that because they hung up. I sure hope the factory warranty on my car has expired as it is 14 yrs old. I received another call about a week later I received a similar call from another number they. I did the same and they asked me to varify the year make and model of my car. I asked what they had on file, and again they hung up. I don't know who they are, but they sure do need to work on their customer service.

The number 410-362-0157 is the same type of thing so don't pick up for that one either.

Received a call from 973-643-8524. I have Verizon. I went ahead and listened to the whole message. I believe if you want to extend your warranty you push 2. So for the heck of it I pushed 2. I got an operator and she asked for make, model and year of my car. I started to speak and she hung up on me. Verizon advised me to sign up on the donotcall list. If this number really does belong to Loprena as person stated below I think I would contact the attorney general in that state.

This number should work. Ask specifically for the Do Not Call list. I've been trying to work this out for a couple weeks now, and the calls have slowed down somewhat. Telemarketing being what it is, it probably won't stop, but it's helped.

It's a company called The Warranty Group. I've gotten calls from at least three different phone numbers, and theyre all from this one company. When you call them and ask to get put on their do not call list, they insist that it's not them who's calling. This is probably true; they most likely contract their marketing out to another company who makes the phone calls. Try calling their company and asking to get put on their Do Not Call list. Might work, might not. That's the breaks with telemarketers.
Call this number. Option 3 I think

This phone number called me on March 12, 2008 at 14:04 PST. I have received the call before, but just hung up, figuring it a scam. This time I had a few minutes, so I wanted to see exactly what would happen. I listened and then pressed 1 to speak with an agent. When connected, a male voice asked the following, "Make and model of vehicle, please." I replied, "No, but you CAN take me off of your phone list." I was immediately hung up on.
When I tried to call this number back, I got the standard recording from the phone company, "We're sorry, you have reached a number that has been disconnected or is no longer in service, blah, blah, blah." You know it.
Just what I figured... SCAM from scum! Who regulates this type of stuff??

I got this call a few times. This time i decided to investigate. So i played along with the telemarketer. The first guy said he was a phone operator and needed a name and zip make and year of my car to get me to the right sales man. After that he transferred me to a another guy. This guy asked what kind of car i had and how many miles. When i stated that it was 90k he said he needed to get authorization from his supervisor. I held for a min and a supervisor came on the phone. He asked if my car was working fine i said yes. He said he would override the info in the computer and sent me back to the salesman. So i asked him what the coverage was he said it was 100k mile/5yr power train warranty that cost $518 a year and had a deductible of $100. He also said it included roadside assistance and a rental car. OK this is were i was sure it was a scam, he said all he needed to get me enrolled in this was a $318 payment NOW over the phone. So i asked what company he worked for he said "United Warranty Wholesalers" and that the plan he was signing me up for was called "Warranty America" their most popular warranty. I then said well i need some time to think about it he replied "OK put the phone down i will be here when you are ready.". So i said i needed to talk this over with someone else and if i could get his phone number and extension so i can call him back. He said he would gladly give me his phone number but it would do me no good because my info would be deleted when he hung up the phone and there would be no way to put it back in. I then said ok can i get you phone number anyway and i will just talk to a manager when i call back. He said they couldn't do anything. I then said well i never give information over the phone unless i make the call or am sure who i am talking to as i have been targeted by fraud before. He played it smooth and said well most major credit cards have fraud protection so you don't have to worry about that. I one last time said will you give me your phone number or not. He said "NO" in a very angry voice. So i said i have no choice but to report you and hung up.
I contacted United Warranty Wholesalers and they said it WAS a legit call and that phone number that called us is part of a telemarketing place that calls up potential customers and then routes them to their sales department. As i was on the phone with him he kept asking for my car info name and number so he could give me a quote. Anyone wishing to call them and tell them to stop calling you can contact them via web "http://www.uwarrantyw.com/contact.html" or phone 1-800-710-1404.
Even though they have a web site and a 800 number i am sill going to report them because any business that won't give you a phone number and demands money NOW can't be all that legit.
I hope this helps
