I received the same call from 1-866-331-6256 at my chiropractic office at www.lbvchiro.com and I had no clue what the guy was calling about. I didnt even get the guy's company name it was so bad. I got a large reference number and thought he was giving a local number to call back. It seems like they have been trying to scam people for a few years now, you would think someone would put a stop to it.

For those of you in the medical profession, is anyone using Allscripts Electronic Health Records products? I've consulted for a physician practice recently and used my cell phone to call their help desk 1-800 number .... In India, unfortunately. I'm wondering if phone records were breeched?

Bull - loney. If they were legit, they wouldn't hide behind a phoney number. What a scam.

Interesting to read all of these items. We've been called repeatedly, and when one tries to call the numbers back, they are disconnected. So, obviously, it's a scam, not legitimate in any way. Nice try with the company above stating this scam is not fraudulent; it is, and violates several US laws. Since all the voices are indian (at least our 5 calls today were) and the numbers are no good, exercise best practice: irregardless of who you are and what you do, refuse any information at all over the phone. Anyone who wants anything from our office on a professional level, or from me on a personal level will give me a written request or they can do without.

Unfortunately, you are incorrect about this company. Did a bit of research on the numbers and paid for a real search. They are soliciting information, not trying to get medial bills correctly routed. Not giving them the info will not delay our checks, as they aren't claiming to be working on bills, just saying they want to verify "basic information." Just as an FYI: if they truly were interested in resolving claims, they would have jumped at our fax number and request to send a list to us so we could resolve their "issues" instead of hanging up on my staff members.
One does not "misdirect" 4 calls from the same place on the same day. They are shopping for someone to give them their info without identifying themselves properly or the company that they really work for.

Calls today (4 and it's just now noon) from this number as well as 973-330-3760, claiming to be from Humana and asking to confirm "basic information". Strong indian accent each time, and 4 different voices.
Bob 2011-06-06 21:08:33 Unknown
Multiple calls, when called the number it said number is not in service, even though reversed right after calls.
Sami 2011-06-06 21:08:33 Unknown
Repeated calls with no one on the line. Calls are in quick succession (like 3 in 5 minutes). No idea who it is. Called number w/no answer.

My doctor's office continues to get calls from this number without explanation. I intend on pursuing this matter further...

Got a call from them today. They were asking about a medical insurance claim for my mother-in-law who just passed away at a hospital near my house. They wanted to find out where to send the claim to otherwise they will be sending the bill to my house. I gave them a call and they are legit. Just doing their job of redirecting insurance claims to the proper channels. I think they are legit and not a scam.

These calls are NOT fraudulent. It's possible the call is being directed to the wrong party, but that does not make them fraudulent. Most US insurance companies, TPAs, networks, etc. outsource their operations to India - Humana, United Healthcare, an Multiplan are very well known for outsourcing. If you are not in the medical industry, or have never submittted a claim yourself, the call is probably being misdirected. If you ARE or DID, though, you are probably unnecessarily delaying your check by ignoring the calls. There are other options besides ignoring on one hand or giving out all the information they want over the phone on the other. Simply ask them to mail or fax their request.

This appears to be an Indian call center calling on behalf of Multiplan PPO. If you are not a Multiplan PPO provider, they call you to see if you will discount your charges to 'expedite' payment.

This woman called with a heavy Indian accent and an American sounding name. Wanted my tax ID number and my fax #. SHe knew my business address and billing location/phone number. She also stated a patient first and last name of a claim I had mailed to Aetna. How did shehave all of this information? I am a speech language pathologist.

Might want to get one of the internet phone numbers, I use those & forward the calls to a busy signal if they are junk-calls or to office phone otherwise. callcentric or voip.ms, they seem the most cost efficient.

Just received a call, again, from 866-331-6256. We are a busy physician's office. The company calling over and over says they're with United Healthcare and want our fax number. Next time, I'm going to give them a fake number.

I received a voicemail message from someone at this number stating that he was Nathan (heavy Indian accent) with Multiplan and was calling to validate my provider record information. He then asked me to call back and leave the contact information to my patient billing department and even gave a reference number. I am a psychologist for the state in which I live and therefore do not register as a provider with ANY insurance companies, so I knew this was not legit. Multiplan IS a legit insurance provider; however, this caller was NOT!

Addendum to post above: The fraudulent callers claiming to be from Multiplan also leave the call back number of 866-331-6256. I have reported this info to the real Multiplan Company at reportfraud@multiplan.com
Fed up with fraudulent calls! 2010-02-02 20:26:59 Unknown
Fraud alert: Calls from 973-780-1062 leaving call back number 866-890-4090 claiming to be "Multiplan" are fraudulent. Multiplan's real phone number is 212-780-2000 and their website is www.multiplan.com On their website they post the following warning about fraudulent calls claiming to be from Multiplan:
"MultiPlan, Inc. has recently received reports of unauthorized use of MultiPlan's name. In one, a letter was received from "MultiPlan Financial Group and Consultants", purportedly a subsidiary of MultiPlan, Inc., stating that the recipient had won a sweepstakes, and included a check that appeared to have been drawn on an account of MultiPlan, Inc. In another, the letter referenced a secret shopper program and also included a check that appeared to have been drawn on a MultiPlan account. There may be other letters like these that use a different tactic.
MultiPlan has also received reports that our company name has been used without our authorization in fax solicitations by an organization calling itself HealthEnroll with a website, www.healthenroll.net. MultiPlan does not have any affiliation with this organization.
As part of the normal course of business, MultiPlan does not issue checks to consumers and does not market or send fax solicitations directly to consumers. Our bank maintains financial security controls that guard against this kind of fraudulent activity and such checks will not be honored. If you receive such a letter or have further information regarding this activity, please contact MultiPlan, Inc. at reportfraud@multiplan.com"

A woman with a thick accent named Jenny left us a voicemail at our office today. She said she was with MultiPlan Provider and had a reference number (which she flew through) and a toll free number (866 331 6256). I tried calling and no one answered. I'm glad I searched for the 973 number and found out it was a scam. These people tick me off! Have a Happy New Year!

Got the call on my voicemail today. Very thick Indian accent. Said he was Sam Benson from MultiPlan. He needed my fax number and patient information for a claim I sent them. He gave a long patient reference number and asked that I call back. I am a counselor and I do not EVER give out client information like that. Anyway, glad I came to this site. It sounded too fishy to me. He gave a number of 866-331-6256 to call back.

I got a call from Multiplan, I gave them my fax number and other informtion they wanted to verify, I got a fax later for negotiation for the claims of my patients which were found to be out of network or out of savings. I signed a proposal for some discount and got the rest of the money, which i thought i would never get it.
