They are definitely bogus! I have a checking acct. that is negative and they are trying to convince me that the bank has handed it over to them for collection. I then called the bank and they denied the claim. Do not give these scammers any info or money.

Yeah, I get this call all the time. Its a collection agency working for American Express. The guy who calls me is named Kavalgeed, and he's a real hoot.

I tease him and pretend to be on a foreign island with Sebastion, (the guy who pays my bills)

Last time He called, I claimed to have joined Islam and had been forgiven of all my debts by Alah. He didnt believe me.....

I googled this number after I have had this islamic sounding a**hole continue to call my number erroneously.  I have demanded he stop calling my number and told him to cease and desist.  I am not sure what else to do.  He could be a terrorist.

I have this person call me all the time, too!  I don't know who he is, but it is definitely some sort of "scam" call.  I have blocked the number on my cell phone.  You might try doing the same thing!

Have been receiving calls from 1-973-954-2843 for the last week (using Vonage phone).  ID: ICICI, asking for someone with a different name.  Sounds Indian.  Tried calling the number back several times and received either a few rings then a busy signal or a message that the number has been disconnected.  When I spoke to them last night they asked for a name and I said I was Matt Damon.  Waiting to see if they start asking for Matt Damon in future.

Called again Mar. 2nd @1:12pm didn't ans.

I get several calls a day from this number--8882698992.  They never leave a message--just hang up or there's music playing.

Comes up as out of area . Get so many of these calls when we are home we just pick up and immediately hang up .Many of them are automated recordings.

I started receiving calls from this number about a week ago. They kept calling and calling on my cell phone. Thyey were definately from India. They were asking for a certain person and I have no idea who that person is. Finally I got a call from what sound like an american peson and he sounded like he was a supervisor. Probably when the india people can't get a hold of the person then it gets turned over to someone else.
I told the guy I have no idea who he is looking for and I had the cell phone for 5 years. He said he would take my number off of the list.
Well I get a call Today asking for another person. It was india again. I told the person not call me again this is a cell phoen and I have no idea who this person is they are tryign to get a hold of

Received 2 calls from this company.  Capitol one credit cards I think.  I have (2) $500 credit line cards and capitol one wants me to pay $1700 each on them.  I hadnt gone over 500 on either.  The extra is just in fees.  I actually would like to pay these off and have a few bucks to do it, but in good conscience I cant pay them $3400 for a debt of $1000.  (even tho I have the cash now to do it).  What are other peoples experiences of what they settle for.  Im curious what I should offer them.   Is there an average of what percentage this company will accept if a person pays right away?  Thankyou.

be careful with these guys, i just read all the posts b/c i keep getting annoying phone calls.  first time they called, Gary (the indian dude), would not tell me the name of the account he was supposedly calling for.  i ignored him for a while, but then got curious if he would still deny my request to know what account he was calling in regards for.  gary then proceeds to tell me it's a debt collection call, wants my bank info, my address, etc. i told him nothing. told him i dont talk to strangers. but then Gary contradicts himself by telling me he noted that i had just made a payment on my account (old account w Amex whom i pay directly... but this guy in india seems to be able to see that my payments directly to Amex are being applied to my account). he told me that he was calling to see if i was interested in settling the account.  ARE YOU KIDDING ME!  b*****d the day before had called me at WORK 3 times and immediately on my CELL 2 more times for a SETTLEMENT OFFER????  REALLY???!!!!!  anyway, i told him i refuse to work w them b/c #1, when i send payments directly to Amex, Amex receives it and applies it to my account (keep in mind my balance is a measly $400).  i told him that it is my right by law to deal directly with the creditor, to which he was forced to agree. but then the twit kept me on the phone for another 15 min asking why i was "scared" to deal with them.  i told boss indian dude that i refuse support Amex paying him commissions on accounts collected and that i've googled First Source Advantage and saw hundreds of accounts of FSA fraudulently making unauthorized withdrawals from people's bank accounts.  he then tried to tell me i was a "scared and frightened woman"... sure he wanted to pour boiling oil on me for being a strong intelligent woman.  they still keep calling me, even though i tell them i am not interested in settling my account nor dealing with them at all.  but every time they call, they ask for my bank account info.  DO NOT TRUST THEM.  FRAUDULENT!  you have the right to deal w creditor directly... don't support these harassing techniques by paying them and letting them get a %!!!!

a man called last night on our land line. Very difficult to understand. He stated the name of the person he was loking for. It was close to our name , but the zip code was not for the state we live in. A relative has an AMEX account...he was in arrears, but has been up to date for over a year now. Today they (chris) called me on my cell phone. I called the cell company and had the number blocked on my phone as wells as my spouse's.
It is definitely a caller from India.

This call was from a debt collection agency for my neighbor.  If they call asking for information on your neighbor or asking you to relay messages to them, that is an unfair debt collection practice.  This is in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices act.  I would not reveal any information to them nor agree to help them.  I would also notify your neighbor as they would then be allowed to pursue legal actions against this company.  It is not your business that your neighbor owes debts, nor should any company be revealing that information to you, that is an invasion of your neighbor's privacy.

Had a call on my cell from this number. No VM.  Called the number back and a woman with an accent and background noise answered.  When I told her my name and that someone from this number had called me she asked me to hold, then it sounded like she was transferring me somewhere, but after a few rings it went silent.  I hung up.

debt collection for American Express (for me at least) I owed 2200.00 and we just settled for 685.00 and my account is closed out.  If you have a few bucks it's worth paying off.  The number came up as a North Jersey number so I answered since it's in my area code. They said they were located in New York. Who knows.

Received voicemail msg (from 973-954-2843) 2 call them back @ 866-517-7458... regarding attempt 2 COLLECT ON A DEBT... female with very thick Indian accent ... lots of noise in backround.

973-954-2843 has called my cell phone many times over the last several weeks asking for my ex-boyfriend. Left a voicemail a couple of weeks ago, also for my ex. Today the Indian-sounding man said I have information for him, and would not indentify himself; however, IF this number is linked to Amex collections it might make sense they are looking for my ex! I've ignored the calls and they just keep coming.

they have been calling me. Because the credit card company screwed up my payments. now its been transferred to this company and the credit card company won't tkae it back even though its their mistake. I talked to the cc company and they said there is nothing that they can do. I told them I will not deal with this indian company the cc company siad to mail them payments and they will handle the transaction going to the company. I have been a vicitm of fraud already in the last year ain't no way i'm going to deal with these guys. i told them to stop callin gi will make my payments and if they continue to harass me i know my rights and if i am making payments then they shoudln't be calling. I'm unemployeed and i am offering to pay what i can but they aren't very helpful. i hate these foreign companies who are frauds. then you go to their website and there is no way to contact them.
