I get calls from this number several times a day. They never leave a message

I have the same problem. I called back, got a voice recording saying they were "my newspaper" and they were sorry they missed me.

Caller said she was from the Wisconsin State Journal. She wanted to know if I started to recieve the subscription I had ordered a few days earlier. All was well. Very pleasant person.

I got a call from this number today. I answered it, but no one was there. I said, "Hello" about 5 times.  I have also gotten calls from other far away numbers every day for the past week. I have answered each time, and each time, no one responded.  I think it is probably a newspaper subscription verification service, because I recently got a newspaper subscription as a gift.  Odd that no one replies when I answer, and odd that every day it is coming from a different phone number. Yesterday it was this number in New Hampshire; 603-244-3973.  And before that, an Indiana number: 812-220-4573.

Received several calls from about 8 numbers including this one. As above, they all relate to a newspaper subscription. Something is screwy, but my newspaper couldn't identify numbers other than to say they use outside marketing agencies.  All these calls are bull....

As soon as I registered on the Do Not Call List I began receiving numerours calls from various unknown numbers.  I did not receive calls before listing on the Do Not Call List.  Firm believer the Do Not Call list is a hoax, and makes it very easy for others to obtain your phone number.

When newspaper subscriptions are sold through a third party, they just want to verify that it all got set up with the newspaper company.  Why would you cancel your subscription because they are being conscientious.  And have you considered that if you just pick up ONE call, say yes, thanks, you will stop getting the calls?

Have you considered just picking up the phone, saying "yes I got my paper" so they could cross you off the list and stop calling?  I don't understand why everyone is afraid to answer the phone.

Got a call from 978-416-9502 from someone named Brian. Said that I subscribed to a newspaper recently and wanted to confirm my delivery, however, I have not subscribed to anything nor have any current subscriptions. When I told him this, he directed me to another number 888-369-6397, to speak with an account manager. The number led me to the Fox News Channel with an automated voice machine and did not allow me the option to speak with anyone. All very weird.

I HAVE RECEIVED A CALL FROM THIS NUMBER TWICE NOW AND I LIVE IS MISSISSIPPI.  I WILL CALL MY PHONE COMPANY IF THEY CALL AGAIN, I HAVE AN UNLISTED PHONE NUMBER.

I just got a phone call from this number 978-416-9502. Since the number is not familar to me, I didn't answer. As I have checked my phone registry, they have called 4 times but didn't left a message. I don't know what it is and I'm not interested.

Newspapers are required to have an independent company verify that someone has really requested a subscription. That is all this is. They are not trying to scam anyone. If the person really did order the paper, they ask about how the delivery service is.

I signed up for my local newspaper and now have gotten calls from 978-416-9502, 707-222-8149, 206-397-1505 and 603-244-3973 which all seem to be part of the same company. No messages and it's really annoying.

i received a phone call from this number and when i answered no one was on the line.  i again am being attacked these idiots at telemarketing or whatever.  they need to stop;

I just received a call from this number for the first time. I couldn't answer but when I checked the message all I could hear was someone breathing on the other end. Creepy! Then while searching on the internet where the number came from, I found others meantioning a newspaper. I recently purchased my local city's newspaper through a teenager from a local high school selling this promotion outside of Target. She said she was trying to raise money for her first year of college and that the newspaper was going to help match what she sold. The check was made out to the newspaper and it was for $20. She even provided a receipt with the newspapers I could choose from. Now for the past three weeks I have been receiving my newspaper on time. My only complaint is why don't they just leave a message as to why they are calling about. So this may be the reason for the calls you have been receiving. If not, then they are probably trying to sell you something.

I subscribed to the local paper, for Sunday's only, last week. I've gotten a total of 1 newspaper so far and 5 phone calls about said newspaper, all from different numbers. The others were 205-409-3236, 707-222-8149, 603-244-3973 and 541-225-5163.

I called my newspaper's local office and told them what was going on and even she was surprised and thought it was weird, ridiculous and overkill. She apologized and put me on their do not call list. So, you might try that...

no message, but sounds like more unwanted calls from telemarketers. I pay to have a phone for my use and use from people that may need to call me, relatives, friends, employer and not for people to call to sell me some thing. I always can go to a store. My phone rings 10-12 times a day and it's not a friend calling. If they would pay my phone bill then they can use my phone. Other wise you don't need to call. Nest you will want to use my car. My # is not listed so they just must call #'s out of the air.

I keep getting at least 2 calls a day from these people. Never leave anything on voice mail.

They will not stop calling. I have gotten three phone calls from this number just today and yesterday they called twice. It's getting really annoying! I answered the first one and they just hung up. They wont leave a message or anything so i have no idea of who it could be. All I know is I'm getting sick and tired of it and I want it to STOP!!!

I got a call several times today from 978-416-9502. When someone from my home answered the call, they asked for me by first name. When I got home, I called the number and the recording comes on that says "Hi, this is your newspaper, were sorry we missed you earlier today, we were wondering if you were satisfied with your service, etc." I left two messages. I'm waiting for them to call me back to find out exactly what it is they want, if anything, but this is not safe.

I got 2 phone calls today from this number. This number is in Massachusetts. I let the answering maching pick up both calls no message was left. We are on the National Do Not Call List. They Better not call again.

I just got another call .. Nice.. its probably some newspaper deal again..

I just got two calls in the morning from Campagnone Common, Lawrence, Essex, MA 01840.... this is werid because they called two times in a row and the common doesnt seem to have anyh buisness. this could be a pay phone but why would they call me from there. I will conduct an investigation into this seeing I live right in the area. It will not be hard at all.

I believe this call definitely has to do with if you ordered a newspaper subscription at sometime.  I recently did and have received two calls, one from a different number, but after looking online, that one also related to the same thing (707-222-8149).  They can call all they want but I'm not going to answer a number I don't recognize.  More than likely it is just to make sure you are receiving the paper you ordered, but then I'm sure they'll try to sell you something.  Never fails.

So far I have received several calls with messages that they were returning calls due to my interest in some deal (Never made of course).  Now this one which did not leave a message.  Now that cell numbers have gone public, even though I did file a do not call request, I have been receiving a few a week.  Do not answer numbers I don't recognize, then I google them.  If important I can call them back, if not then I have not been charged for a phone call (except those leaving messages!!!)

The FIFTH call in FIVE days with no message -- only the number showing up on my cell phone as a missed call. I won't answer numbers I don't recognize. I figure they'll leave a message if I need to return the call. The other phone numbers were 269-290-7122; 707-222-8149; 541-225-5163; 970-347-8064; and 205-409-3236. One call was from Colorado; one from California; and one from Oregon. Don't remember the others without looking them up again on this site. THIS IS GETTING RIDICULOUS! Based on the messages here, evidently others are experiencing the same problem. If it is connected to my recent local newspaper subscription, then I'll cancel it after one month if the calls don't stop.
