They use an auto phone dialer, then you press 1 and they pick up.

First time for me! done the ### a few times, I don't normally get a return call from the number!

Got one of these and gave them a fake name, birthday, and bank.  When they asked me for my credit card number, I said "Hold on while I get it" and then put down the phone and let them sit there for 20 minutes waiting.  They finally hung up and tried to call me back from another number which I didn't answer.  Haven't received any more calls from them.  Lot's of fun.

Yes, these are scammers. Just set your call display to "CRIMINALS" then when you receive a call you will know to ignore it...

have received a number of calls from this number.  offering discounted rates for credit cards.  what a waste of time.  have picked up twice - and zeroed out to a rep.  when i ask the name of the business and the intent of their calls, they hang up.  nice.  they stink like fraud.

I also received a call but I had already seen all the threads about this scam and so I told the woman to take me off their calling list. She hung up.  They call daily at supper time at least 3 times a week

This is a number from card services promising to lower your credit card interest rates to 6.9%, which they dont do.

I got sucked in last November.  Paid money up front in fees to get them to work with the credit card companies. They did NOTHING but charge my credit card and send me a graph of how much debt I had and how long it would take to pay it off and how to make bigger payments to pay it off faster.  The more debt you have, the higher the charge you pay up front. They promise to call your credit cards to lower the rates, but they dont. Its against the law for the companies to speak to a 3rd party anyway.  I complained, made a bit stink and threatened to go to the newspapers with all the phone numbers and names of the people I had spoken to at this company. I got my money back and swiftly closed the credit card they had charged for their services.  Lesson learned!

I have received two calls but each time I don't answer it and no message is left on my answering machine.  I live in Canada

Dog:  I've had that 12-number call block service for years and it's been well worth every penny.  Oddly, today after trying to reduce the quantity of numbers I already had on block to make room for new ones, I unblocked 978-570-2770 that had been on block for almost two months. And guess what?  It wasn't an hour later when the 978 phantom struck again!  Needless to say, the number is now back on block, perhaps permanently, since the people using it apparently NEVER give up.

Keep getting calls from this number ... 2nd attempt to lower interest rate .. hit "1" and as soon as you start to talk they terminate the call. Phoned my phone provider and they can't seem to be able to do anything about it ... so added a service to my phone that allows me to block up to 12 numbers for 2.00 a month and when the service is activated this will be the first one on my list and if it continues to happen then it will fall under harassment and then the law will get involved.

These people are criminals.  Whenever you're offered the option of pressing some number to be removed from the list, think about how you got on the list in the first place. Pressing some number will not only NOT remove you from the list, you will actually get more calls, becuase you are confirming that the call has gone through and that you are willing to follow instructions.

I keep a whistle next to the phone so if I get a live scumbag on the other end I cand send a really clear message about how much I appreciate being on their "list".

I have gotten several calls from this number, I even pressed the 1 to be taken off list but the calls still come.  I hope someone can figure out how to rid of these unwanted calls.

I received a call from the number 1-978-570-2070(I *69 the call to get the number) and they said that this was my second and final notice to lower my credit card interest rate. When I stated that I didn't get any kind of notice from them in writing,and that I would not be providing my private information over the phone, the caller hung up.

To bypass a Canadian law that makes telemarketing like this ***ILLEGAL*** because of the do not call list (which I'm on), they get these companies in the US to call us instead.

I bet a Canadian company forwards the do-not-call list phone numbers to these scamster companies in the US.

Look into Voip, some of these carriers, well here in Windsor, ON, Canada, if they *67, or unknown number, all they will get is a busy signal. On the other hand, once the number has been displayed, you use a web interface and add that number to the busy line! Just like I'm going to do after this post. Telemarketers suk, if I want ur sht, I'LL call you!!

I am always getting tele-marketing calls, so I do not usally pick up when I see a number I do not know.  i called the number and it said that if i do not wish to be placed on any more promotional calls to press one.  I did lets see if that works.  So annoying!  Don't fret it is nothing serious someone is just trying to make some money.

this is a telemarketing for lower via rate. They are scamer and try not to answer you phone when you see thier number. if you answer once, they will call you everyday at supper time. Even if you have your number on no call list, they will still call you!

I didn't pick up, the area code is Massachusetts. I an in Saskatchewan Canada and for the last few months I have been getting a lot of calls from the USA, mostly Massachusetts and North Dakota.
