I get the same call and answer it to see what the pitch is. I NEVER say yes to anything because these type calls have been known to edit your responses later. Anyway, the voice you hear is recorded and their response depends on your reply. I always take them through until I get a live person. At least it keeps them from harassing others for a bit. They get pretty upset when they realize you have gotten them on the line with no intention of purchasing. I once gave them an address for a government building and scheduled an appointment. Don't know what happened there. But it was fun to mess with them.

No way to truly stop these calls, but had fun making this recording on my ansr mach behind the 10th call from these folks in 2 days: "Your call has been properly routed to a number ending in ****. Leave a message unless, of course, you are a telemarketer. This week's telemarketing award goes to Rover at 978.570.2346, who has been reported to the FTC and is in violation of the Do Not Call Registry. Thanks & have a grrrrr8 day!" (using an overly "pissy-sweet" voice on that last sentence) Of course, didn't really lift a finger to report to FTC. That action actually does nothing, nor does the Do Not Call registry...but (again) just a quick bit of childish satisfaction in the making of that greeting!?

They keep calling my cell phone. I've started just answering the phone and then laying the phone down. Hopefully the effers will stop calling soon.

These telemarketing calls are mostly made from bogus telephone numbers by a process called "Caller ID spoofing"; where the caller dials a Spoofing Provider, then enters a PIN, and enters the phone number (any random number) the caller wants to appear on your caller ID. That's why if you call back you get a constant busy signal or a recording of "Number is not in service". There are also computer generated spoofed calls where the caller uses spoofing software to make a call using Voice over Internet Protocol (internet calls). As these spoofed numbers are created by the caller at random, it's useless to report them to the National Do Not Call Registry, as most of the numbers are not active phone numbers. I'm on the National DNC List and receive 2 or 3 calls per week; if I attempt to advice the caller that I'm on the DNC list, they rudely hangup on me.
I received a call from 978-570-2346 on my cell phone, the line went dead after I answered the call. I dialed the number back and got a recording: "If you would like your number to be removed from our call list, please press 1; please be advised that it takes upto 72 hours for your number to be removed." I tried calling the number back a 2nd time about 30 minutes later and got a rapid busy signal (disconnected phone) and tried calling from another number and got same rapid busy signal. I'm thinking it was a spoofed call and the number belongs to someone else with the same number and got tired of receiving many callbacks and left phone of the hook.

Stop the calls. Do not need a new security system.

They have called at least 12 times in the past week. You'd think they'd get the hint after not picking up every single time. Guess not.

I accidentally answered a call from this number and a live person was on the other end. I could tell immediately it was a marketing call so just hung up on him after he kept trying to insist on talking with me. I receive daily calls now. Never answer them. These posts help and after reading them I expect this will carry on for some time. I will check on blocking the number. Thanks everyone for the help.

I was getting 4 to 6 calls a day from this number, and I don't know any one in this area code so I never answered. Until last Tuesday. I told this guy, politely, to quit calling my number and he called back about hour later. That's when I gave him a really good blast of my air horn. Six days later, and he hasn't called back. Problem solved.

I,ve been getting the same call's also here in GA. I answer the call and the line is silent. The caller ID also shows up as ROVER. I am beginning to think my Favorite dog from long ago is trying to contact me he he he!
| jamie1 2011-08-15 22:15:27 Unknown |
I get about three calls daily, all times of the day or night, on my home number from this number (978.570.2346--ROVER). I am former AT&T and Apple employee. I am on National & Georgia "do not call" list. I report them. They still call. I believe "rover" is an autodialer's name, "roving" telephone numbers randomly; according to all of these posts, sometimes they reach a mobile, business or home number. NO ONE responds when I answer the phone. this number is long distance for me from Georgia. I only have callerid (since I retired, I don't get free features, just free local service-dial tone). So, I'm not calling this number back, spending money to attempt to stop them. I'm confused about the "dial 1" that everyone mentions. Do I do this when I answer the calls? Because if I have to CALL the number and use the "dial 1" option, that's a no go. It's funny, I have a home security system...

i have reported this number to the "do not call" list at least 20 times now and am still receiving multiple calls daily. reporting these calls seems to have no effect, but i will continue reporting them until the calls stop.
