It is fraudulent to impersonate an office from the Internal Revenue Service.  The Waukesha County Sheriffs Department has record of our entire conversation and your message.  Hope you make some nice boy friends in prison.  P.S.  Hope you're a small guy--I hear they make best 'butties' there!

I received calls today about the same thing, I owe taxes and I am being audited. I owe about 45,000 and if I pay $2500 immediately they can stall the collection process. I was passed to a supervisor Mr. Richard Johnson who threatened to freeze all accounts, re-pocess the car and my home. His number was 979-705-5132. The first call showed a caller ID from Washington DC and was a recorded message. The second call was someone who then passed me to the supervisor Mr. Johnson.

I got this call this morning from someone with a very thick accent claiming to be a "Sam Fletcher" from the "Internal Revenue Service Department"  I let it go to voice mail because I didn't recognize the number.  He called me John, and my name is not John!  Here is the transcript of the message that "Sam Fletcher" left me:

"This message is intended to you, John Hacks (?).  Nummits (?) John, this call is from the Internal Revenue Service Department.  The very second you receive this message, I need you, or your retained attorney of record to return the call.  The issue at hand is extremely time sensitive.  My name is Sam Fletcher, and (not understandable) is 979-705-5132.  I repeat it's 979-705-5132, and if you don't return the call, and I don't hear from your attorney, either, then the only thing I can do is wish you a good luck, as the situation unfolds onto you.  Goodbye.

Needless to say, I won't be calling this "agent" back.

This number has called my mother several times threatening her with arrest, levy. I called this number and spoke to 2 indian guys with heavy accents. I told them I know that they are trying to scam innocent people and they need to stop harrassing my mom. At first they denied it which really made me mad so I cursed at them and told them I am giving their number to the police and will call them non stop to harrass them like they are doing to others. they admitted they were running a scam to scare people into giving them money and said a bunch of obscene things to me as well..I hung up on them and they have continued to harrass me and call me names. Do not fall for their scams!!!!!!!!!!

No, this is a hardcore criminal enterprise identified by the IRS attempting to extort non-existent debts from coast-to-coast:

WASHINGTON ? The Internal Revenue Service today warned consumers about a sophisticated phone scam targeting taxpayers, including recent immigrants, throughout the country.

Victims are told they owe money to the IRS and it must be paid promptly through a pre-loaded debit card or wire transfer. If the victim refuses to cooperate, they are then threatened with arrest, deportation or suspension of a business or driver?s license. In many cases, the caller becomes hostile and insulting.

?This scam has hit taxpayers in nearly every state in the country.  We want to educate taxpayers so they can help protect themselves.  Rest assured, we do not and will not ask for credit card numbers over the phone, nor request a pre-paid debit card or wire transfer,? says IRS Acting Commissioner Danny Werfel. ?If someone unexpectedly calls claiming to be from the IRS and threatens police arrest, deportation or license revocation if you don?t pay immediately, that is a sign that it really isn?t the IRS calling.? Werfel noted that the first IRS contact with taxpayers on a tax issue is likely to occur via mail
Other characteristics of this scam include:
Scammers use fake names and IRS badge numbers. They generally use common names and surnames to identify themselves.
Scammers may be able to recite the last four digits of a victim?s Social Security Number.
Scammers spoof the IRS toll-free number on caller ID to make it appear that it?s the IRS calling.
Scammers sometimes send bogus IRS emails to some victims to support their bogus calls.
Victims hear background noise of other calls being conducted to mimic a call site.
After threatening victims with jail time or driver?s license revocation, scammers hang up and others soon call back pretending to be from the local police or DMV, and the caller ID supports their claim.
If you get a phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS, here?s what you should do:
If you know you owe taxes or you think you might owe taxes, call the IRS at 1.800.829.1040. The IRS employees at that line can help you with a payment issue ? if there really is such an issue.
If you know you don?t owe taxes or have no reason to think that you owe any taxes (for example, you?ve never received a bill or the caller made some bogus threats as described above), then call and report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 1.800.366.4484.
If you?ve been targeted by this scam, you should also contact the Federal Trade Commission and use their ?FTC Complaint Assistant? at FTC.gov.  Please add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments of your complaint.
Taxpayers should be aware that there are other unrelated scams (such as a lottery sweepstakes) and solicitations (such as debt relief) that fraudulently claim to be from the IRS.
The IRS encourages taxpayers to be vigilant against phone and email scams that use the IRS as a lure. The IRS does not initiate contact with taxpayers by email to request personal or financial information.  This includes any type of electronic communication, such as text messages and social media channels. The IRS also does not ask for PINs, passwords or similar confidential access information for credit card, bank or other financial accounts. Recipients should not open any attachments or click on any links contained in the message. Instead, forward the e-mail to phishing@irs.gov.

More information on how to report phishing scams involving the IRS is available on the genuine IRS website, IRS.gov.

I want to add that my gut feelings are this scam is an INSIDER JOB! B/c (1) their tactics - preyed on aloneness by usingcontinuous fear and time pressure - are very similar tactics to how the lawyers extracted consent to plea bargains from defendants in the courthouses, and (2) the scammer mentioned "I looked at your files that you need to pay more...". So,they must have worked in the law enforcement or IRS at some point in their career, hence they can "access" to tax files. When the scammers called me, they used 1-800-829-1040, who else can use the IRS toll free line? Importantly, my gut feelings are  these scammers are people working *inside* the IRS who are familiar with using scare tactics with victims, and they are a bunch of people CHALLENGING THE GOVERNMENT!  In that case, I think the government should be relentless in nailing them down. Also, I think I gave the relevant authorities enough details to catch these scammers -- b/c when I reported to the police station, I think the guy didn't receive his money from MONEYPAK yet due to the fact that he was still calling my cellphone a few times when I refused to answer him at the police station. I believe if the police keep chasing the phone nos. through VERIZON and through MONEYPAK wire transaction nos, they have no problem nailing them down soon.

It's a SCAM. I received a call at 3:30 p.m. today (3/19/2014). 9797055132 appeared on phone as from *FREEPORT, TX*. A lady with Indian accent claiming she's from *IRS* asked to speak to a person on a tax matter, hence she could not disseminate the information to me. After I passed the phone to  person-in-concern, he was informed an "Arrest Warrant" is going to be issued against him tomorrow unless he can pay $2,500 *immediately*, for which sum the IRS will forgive all the outstanding taxes due from 2008-2012. When he asked for the file nos. for these filing years, the caller got angry and said "This is confidential, I cannot give you the information over the phone. You'll be arrested tomorrow!" Upon hearing arrest, the person-in-concern was extremely scared. Out of fear for arrest, he went straight out of the door, drove his car to the bank as requested by the caller, withdrew all the cash from his bank account, went to CVS to buy **GREEN DOT MONEYPAK**. The scammer kept calling him while he was driving to the bank to make sure he's on his way. He called again very soon after the MONEYPAK were purchased and asked for the numbers. But the scammer asked for more $$$$ that?s when the person-in-concern thought something is wrong and reported to the police and found out it is a SCAM, but it?s tool late. MONEYYPAK has a clause that they?re ?not responsible for scams?, so even though the person-in-concern called from the police station, MONEYPAK can NOT STOP or REFUND to the victim. A police report has been filed and more reports will be filed to warn potential victims.

Got the call today saying they are IRS and arrested warrant issued for me for tax fraud. If I did not commit to settling the matter the Sherrif would be at my door within the hour arrest me. Knew something was up and refused to give them any information. Told them I would expect the Sherrif. Immediately called the IRS and reported and verified my account is in good standing.

I just call a call from this number indicating that I owe money to the IRS and if i didn't pay they would have me arrested.  I already knew this was a fraud call because my mother in law got this same call 3 to 4 months back.  So i told the guy to go ahead and send the police to get me arrested and i knew he was a fraud and hung up.  Then i called back to find out how much they were asking from me, making them think i was going to pay them.  After a couple mintues of converstation, they guy on the phone delcared "We are a spam, you are a nice lady so just hang up".  I try to get in contact with the real IRS to report this number however was not sucessfully.  The government needs to know that this is a fraud and innocent people are getting attacked.

http://www.wistv.com/story/24931977/police-say-woman-paid-29000-in-tax-scam

CAMDEN, SC (WIS) -Camden police are investigating a tax scam that cost a local woman more than $29,000.

Police say the woman received phone calls Friday from a man who identified himself as Shawn Michael with the Internal Revenue Service and told her she risked being arrested if she did not call him back.

According to the police report, the man told her she had to buy Green Dot Smartmoney Cards worth $29,340 and call him back with the account information, which she did. The man told her she needed to provide $21,000 more to correct her credit information.

Police say the woman visited her sister after she went through all of her money, who told her it was a scam.

The phone number to which the woman returned Shawn Michael's call was 979-705-5132.

I also received a call from this number stating that the man (heavy accent) was from the IRS and there was a pending lawsuit against me.  He needed to speak to me or my attorney.  I also received phone messages the week before (heavy accent) that said he was Police Officer Patrick Dempsen (sp?) and he needed to speak to me or my attorney and to  "not ignore the call".  I called my police department and the police department of the town in which the call originated and confirmed they did not have a police officer by that name.  Reported the call to the FCC.  So when this call came in today, I asked if the caller knew Officer Patrick Dempsen, the caller sounded confused.  I said I had called two police departments and contacted the FCC and he hung up.

Got a call from this number telling they are from IRS and I have failed to disclose some information in my tax returns. IRS has sent documents and I have not yet responded. Since I have not responded to the documents, IRS has initiated proceedings to seize all my belongings, credit card, bank account, issue a non-bailable arrest warrant and deport me to my own country. They asked me to pay the penalty of $2424 via EFTP (government bonds) available in 7/11 or CVS pharmacy. They wanted me to do it immediately. I was not allowed to get off the call and was expected to be put in Speaker phone. I realized this was a prank call and mentioned them I will go to the police station and check whether I need to be arrested and then pay the amount. Then they shouted with bad words and hung up the phone
