Since obtaining phone service with Charter communications, I receive 6-10 calls daily from nothing but scammers.  Carpet cleaning, fake lawsuits in the Dominican Republic that I need to wire funds to, to debt management, and now today, the Life Alert Scam.   Ive been on the DNC list, which is a joke, and does zero.  I'm signing up for Google Voice to get a grip on Charter selling my information despite my opt out for privacy.  Google Voice is free and I can edit this idiots phone to ring mine as disconnected in the future.  The little 12 number block Charter offers does nothing when they sell your information.  Never a moments peace. Never!  The Life Alert, BBB has an alert on these scanners. Inform the elderly in your life so they do not fall victim to this scam.

Going to sign up for free Google Voice to get rid of this idiot who keeps calling.  Since obtaining a phone through Charter Communications, its been nonstop drama and as many as 6 different companies in 1 day calling.  I can only block 12 numbers but with Google Voice, I can program my number as Disconnected and No Longer In Service.   The DNC Registry is a joke.

This scam has been reported all over the country.  Here is a link to a TV report on KOMO-TV, Seattle, that describes the scam and the includes an actual recording of part of the call that may sound exactly like the one from which you prepared your transcription:

http://www.komonews.com/news/consumer/Robocal ... -213212481.html

If that link somehow does not make it through (it may be too long to convert to a link because it spans a line break), then this might work instead:

komonews.com/news/consumer/Robocall-scammers-use-Life-Alert-to-swindle-seniors-213212481.html

There is another recording that records a complete call, including the change in voice at the end, and there is a warning that Life Alert put out on the web to warn people about this scam.  You can find all this in a previous post I made on the subject at:

http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-941-621-2545#p584100330714138005

The upshot?  DON'T PRESS ANY NUMBERS at the end of the call.  JUST HANG UP.

It looks like poor Joyce is getting the blame for all the calls! I doubt if Joyce could make hundreds of thousands of calls even if she tried! We should all realize Joyce is blameless.

They indicated that I had received a free medical device like the "I've fallen and I can't get up" device.  They stated that it had already been paid for and they just needed directions for shipping.  Likely a scam--never give out your address!!!  Pressed 5 to be removed from the list.

These douchenozzles call me ALL the time.  It's a fake number on caller ID so you cant call back.  They're trying to sell some medical alert nonsense. After about thirty calls I actually pressed the number to "give them my information for delivery" so that I could speak to someone.  I told the lady that I get called constantly by them and demanded she take me off their call list.  She said no problem, she would do that and promptly hung up.  She had no idea who I was and I knew I wasn't coming off the list.  They often call when I'm at work and don't have time to play but next time they call I'm going to play along and get information to pass along to law enforcement or possible a ninja hit squad. Do ninjas come in hit squads?  I think that's what these a**-clowns deserve.

This number was never "connected" in the first place.    With these new wonderful Internet telephone systems - the caller can make ANY number show up on your caller ID system.

This is a SCAM call - the product is real, but these goons are selling the MONITORING service at 3-5 times the price you would pay by using a LEGITIMATE service provider.

They fake the number so that you can't easily turn them in, and they can continue to make illegal calls for as long as they possibly can.

Never, ever, ever - give any personal info or financial info to these idiots - you WILL get ripped off.   There was no Maybe to that - you WILL get ripped off.

I would NEVER want my elderly parents setting an appointment with some schmucks like these....who knows what kind of criminal elements they would send to their home to do the sale and install...they may be just setting the appointment to case the inside of their home and see if there is an alarm in place or can they just break the door down and help themselves.

There is NO WAY I would ever think of doing any business with a company that wouldn't even abide by the Do Not Call List - if they won't follow THAT simple rule, what else will they fail to do?

Also, it is AGAINST THE LAW in many states to offer any type of alarm service or monitoring services for sale without being either LICENSED or REGISTERED with the state first.
Just another reason these cockroaches hide their identity until they get you on the hook for the money with a 2-3 year NON-cancellable contract.

We need RAID for telemarketers.   "Just one spray and those telemarketing roaches drop dead.... "

agree with other comments, received a call last week and when I tried to talk the guy kept on talking and would not shut up. received a call again today, but was not at home, when I tried to return the call I received the same message as others, that the number was no longer in service.  the reason that the device is already paid for, is that medicare pays for it and apparently they have a list of people and phone numbers who are on medicare.  this is so, so annoying, I wish that someone could put a stop to all of these calls.

The guy said, "I'm John from the shipping department and we are shipping your medical alert system."
I told him I didn't order one and don't want one. Told him I was on the Do Not Call List. He just kept talking. I hung up.  Wish we could stop these type of calls.

Every morning c. 8 AM, we get a call from 980-202-0016.  When you pick up the phone, there is no answer; no message; nothing.  Has been happening a couple of weeks.  Investigation so far has located the phone number in Matthews, NC as a "Land Line", and is associated with "spam".

A word to the wise.......when you receive this call....DO NOT answer it.....make sure you turn your answering machine off......if you answer the call or your machine takes the call, you are telling the scammers you have a good working number.  If you don't answer, the phone will just ring and ring and eventually your number will be taken off of their list as "not a good number"....

this recorded message was recorded by my answering system:

Voice mail: Robo Call:? Um I was callin to schedule the delivery of your medical alert system, it ah the phone and the ?I can?t get up? type of system you have seen on TV.  Looks like this system has been recommended by thousands of hospitals and medical professionals.  Ah lets see says here that the system has already been paid for.  Looks like you getting the system because either yourself, a friend, a family member, or maybe even somebody you know has experienced a fall in the past. So ah again, it?s already been paid for so there is no cost to you whatsoever.  Also says here that the shipping has already been paid for. So to a schedule the delivery of your emergency medical alert system press 1 again to a have your system shipped out to you, Press 1 now.  Press 5 to decline this shipment of your system. (Then different voice) If you already have a medical alert system please disregard this message, again If you already have a medical alert system please disregard this message.

I received the identical recorded message on July 16 with a caller ID of:

I also get this call and have for months.  In fact, there are FIVE different numbers that call me with the exact same robo-message.  I did push "5" once on one number (they called back the next day but the government allows them 31 days to stop pestering you) and then they stopped calling.  However, I started getting the same call from THREE new numbers after that.  In fact, since early June I've been keeping a record of all the calls I get and there have been 33 unique phone numbers trying to sell me something or get me to contribute to some charity.  As far as the charities go, they are also scams even if they do give money to the charity they claim to represent.  They give them 4 to 10% of the donations and they keep the rest.  I got this info from the charities themselves.  I get caller ID names such as "out of area", name not known", "private caller" or a conglomeration of initials.  I've also had these come through with some name and no number listed.  I particularly like the people who expect you to answer when all that shows on caller ID is 000-000-0000.  The following numbers are the other numbers that call me about a "free" medic alert system.

828-059-4744
336-859-6217
202-454-9999
919-659-5363
910-420-0106

My recommendations, get caller ID if you don't have it (it is SO worth it) and don't answer any number you don't recognize.  It won't stop many of them but at least you don't have to actually interact with them.

If you actually listen to the call, it says "press 5 to decline."

I did that. I hope they won't call back. Maybe they'll try harder.
Or maybe if you just hang up they will keep calling you back.
We'll see.

This telemarketer has called my number 5 times and as the previous post indicates,  It does not matter what you say.  They continue to talk over you in an attempt to sell some sort of medical alert system.  They claim that they have a package waiting to be delivered. The telephone number shows as originating in Charlotte, NC.  The state of North Carolina AG office should investigate this scam company and maybe send them a package!.

So tired of this ANNOYING Call. It does not matter what you say, Good, Bad, F**K Off, or I Love You. The caller, Human or Device, will NOT SHUT UP. Even after you hang up the phone and recheck it a few seconds later, HE IS STILL THERE. When you call back the number on your caller ID, you are told that the number has been disconnected.WHAT IS UP WITH THIS? How can I block this caller and others like him? I do not know what company it is, they are wanting to deliver something that I SUPPOSEDLY ORDERED. I KNOW NOT.

It is a scam! There is an article in the current AARP Bulletin warning of, and explaining the medic alert for seniors scam, that is well worth the reading.
