For years I've been getting all kinds of crank calls. The one that really blew me away was from my local PBS station. They somehow knew I was subscribed to the station. Had my name too. At first I was fooled but then they asked for a donation. Funny...I just did that about 10 days ago. I politely declined and checked their number on my CID. The area code was 980! I reported them to the Do Not Call Registry.

The telemarketers, bill collectors, political groups and surveys are a pain in the rear. How do you stop them? After doing a bit of research I came across this fantastic device. It's a life saver! I have received several calls in last month from the same number, repeating the same theme about medical equipment. Most of my calls go to answering machine. They also have my last name and the call starts addressing me. If I have not ordered the equipment, no one else has ordered for me, why would something will be mailed to me? If I find any unordered package at my doorstep, I will report it as a suspicious material.
    Is this a trick to entice people to give out their sensitive information like date of birth, or social security number? All I know is there is NO FREE LUNCH.
    I just let it go to the answering machine.

Just rec'd a call from this number.  Funny, an identical call was received by a relative in Mississippi last week.  Set up free delivery for your medic alert system  HA!

This call said they were calling about the Medical Alert that had been paid for by someone else for me and wanted to know if it would be OK to deliver it.  They suggested pushing several different buttons, but I just let it go to the answering machine. Call was from Albemarle, NC

4 DAYS AGO MY DOORBELL RANG A GUY THERE SAID HE HAD MADE A DELIVERY TO MY NIEGHBOR. HE SAID HE HAD 3 BOXES LEFT STEAK, CHICKEN, SHRIMP AND WOULD LIKE TO GIVE THEM TO ME FREE. I SAID SORRY I AM VEGERTARIAN.

ALSO HAVE YOUR PISTOL IN YOUR HAND IN YOUR POCKET READY FOR ANY UNPLEASANT SUPRISE. I AM 74.

As Edie said, someone who calls himself John called to schedule delivery of emergency equipment.  He said it was already paid for.  I questioned that and told him that anyone who needed the equipment was already dead.  Although the voice tried to sound like a live person, it did not respond appropriately to unexpected responses.  (That to me was a good clue that "John" is a computer-generated voice.)  After a few of my unexpected responses, "John" quit talking to me but did not hang up.  I, on the other hand, did hang up and searched for this site.  Unlike the call that Jan reported, my call did list the calling phone number, and the location was given as Albemarle, NC.  That matches the area code / exchange lookup that I did.

The Do Not Call list--does not work. They call on our company's phones all the time. Usually we are on our phones--then another line rings (them 1-980-734-3654) they always hang up, and that rude busy signal blast the office. Scum-Bottom Feeders, I would never do business with a shady company. No doubt your a FRAUD, if you can not leave a message,. DO NOT CALL--means in simple English--DO NOT CALL. I am sure they are uneducated, scum, criminals.

Someone at this number has been calling my number nearly every day for a long time. I finally answered and they said, "This is John and I am calling to schedule the delivery of your Emergency Equipment." . I knew I had not ordered any emergency equipment and I called them a "wordy dird" and hung up. I called the number back and got a different person and asked why they were calling to schedule an appointment for something I did not order. They said they would remove my number and hung up.

Continue to receive calls from this number  The recording tries to make you think you have a live person on the line, and then it says press 1 to be connected or 5 to have your number removed.  I get calls from this number every day.

They are offering "free" emergency medical alert systems for seniors  if you "qualify."  If you press "1" you get a live person who then asks if you want to know more or if you want your number removed,.  I've asked mulitple times to have our number removed.

Called and said they were a Medical Supply with a shipment for us.  I said "We didn't order anything" and they kept on.  Hung up.

Called about 10:40 a.m. I waited to see if there would be a recorded message. There was none. Needless to say I did NOT answer the call because I didn't recognize the phone #....AND, what' more, there was no Caller ID, except  "Out of Area".

Called twice within a few minutes. hung up

Recorded message saying "If you are a senior citizen..."

This is a scam number. Hang up immediately do not press any keys
