Got a call from this number and could barely understand the man on the other end. He had a thick middle eastern accent which made it extremely difficult to understand. He called me to say that there was a 1099 job available 10 miles from me, when I had asked him about it he said I had to pay THEM $1,300 over the phone call to be registered as a technician. I don't know if it was really Barrister or a scammer that's spoofing caller ID. But they have a bad rep anyway so it's not worth my time to find out.

Company Looking for someone to do onsite printer repair

My guess is that they pulled your number off of Workmarket, if you are signed up to do 3rd party 1099 work through it. They use the CareerBuilder thing to hide the fact that they are using the Workmarket platform to gain access to independent technicians now that they have pissed off everyone else and can't find anyone to work for them anymore
| ScrewedByBarrister 2013-09-05 19:26:17 Unknown |
They will agree to all sorts of money to get you out there but the trick is to get them to PAY YOU. They are well known for ditching their responsibility of paying the technician that did the work.
| Barrister Hater 2013-09-03 19:55:41 Unknown |
They are a real company - they hire people on an independent contractor basis. They pay between 25 - 45 dollars per call, but they will go out of the way to make sure you don't get paid. They have so many rules and regulations about paying you it's very easy to not get paid. Simply put, these people are looking to find suckers to provide free labor. In point, if you agree to take a job and your car breaks down on the way to the job, they will charge you 100.00 for not being able to give them 4 hours notice you couldn't make the call. Their "agents" are rude, hostile, and treat the techs like garbage. Tell them to kiss your butt & go find another sucker.

The calls are coming from Barrister support services who handles a variety of computer and printer support contracts for the computer industry. They are actively pursuing technicians for $25 to $35 a call to fix printers and pc's. We have helped them with support calls, but our minimum is $65 per incident and a travel charge if it's farther than 10 miles. You can negotiate with them for a better rate than the $25 to $35 per incident.
We currently also utilize ARS services, they pay $100 per incident but the jobs are more in depth and take about 2 hours to complete.
Hope this helps answer any questions about this number.

They have been calling me repeatedly the past few weeks. I get a message from Erika sometimes asking for a return call, but no information concerning their business name who she is or what she wants.
Even my customers leave more info than that.
I actually picked it up today and spoke with a Michelle...call center noise in the background...She immediately asked me for my going rate for computer repair, without saying anything about herself or her company. When I tried to get information out of her she was dimwitted and I had to lead her along through answering my questions.
Finally it came down to the fact that she wanted to know how much I charged for service, and then would call me back after talking to a manager.
Complete BS, and she had horrible skills, for w/e she was trying to do.
Was that a phone interview? I don't know. A phishing scam? Uhh all u got was how much I charge..common knowledge.
My advice...block the #

They called my cell phone and I didn't answer. Left me a voice message that they saw my resume on Career Builder and wanted to offer me a job as a repair technician. I don't have a resume on Career Builder.
