The "do not call list" is a joke.  None of my numbers are listed yet I get more telemarketer calls than before I signed up for it.  Is it possible that these scammers are using that list for their calling list?

They claim they are Windows support. They tried to log in remote to my mothers computer.
She was having trouble with her DSL and when they called she got mixed up and thought it was support.
I always do it so she called me right away and i had her instantly unplug her computer.
Not a big deal there is no bank or cc info on her computer. To be safe i scanned and then reformatted her hard drive.  Crooks preying on seniors should be shot!

Prank Call
These people, with this computer scam, have been at this for ages.

How many months does it take to shut this specific phone number down?  Mercy!  (Yes, they'll open a new 'spoofed' telephone number but at least it'll be something different to look at in our phone's memory.)

PS - They may also be calling from 615-490-5988, which is definitely another spoofed number.

A week ago I got an "encryption" virus on my Dell puter.  Had it removed - purchased a new puter.  Today I received a call from this number - said he wanted to help me with my puter - said I didn't have a puter and hung up & researched the web & found this phone number.  If anyone sees anyt email relating to the word "encryption"  watch out!  Was told by the person that removed the virus that the word "FAX"  may be attached to an email & that is how the virus is infested.

This is a scam call from India claiming to be from "Tech support." I have gotten this same call from three different numbers which I have blocked three different times. I told the caller that I realize this is a scam call, that he is calling from India and I have blocked his company three different times and to stop calling, upon which he hung up. I suppose as long as they can come up with different phone numbers they will keep trying. They should train their people to not have heavy Indian accents, then maybe some of us will actually fall for their scams!

Dimwit just called during an electrical storm, the power had gone off for a short time, so no problems with my Windows computer as it had gotten knocked off line...he got "the treatment".  I pressed talk, put the phone face down on the computer desk, and went about my day until I heard a fast busy signal, then I hung up.

I wish I could track these people down and give them a good smack in the head for bothering me on my vacation day.

When I received this call I usually just hang up on telemarketers, but with this call I wanted to stay on the line, I knew it was something more than just telemarketing going on here.  I tried to collect as much info as I could to hopefully help someone who gets taken advantage, actually if you perform the steps the guy on the phone is asking you to perform they can rob you blind.  I knew they were dangerous.  They will ask you to perform key strokes on your computer that seem relatively harmless as you are performing them, but with these keystrokes they can take over your computer (without your knowledge).  So the next time you log in to check your credit card, bank account, pay pal accounts, they can obtain your confidential user ids and passwords, all without you even knowing it is occurring.  The man I spoke with had a very strong Indian accent (India).  He said he was help desk from Microsoft.  But when I pressed him what company he worked for he said Askpec.  Do not participate in this activity no matter what, this is the most dangerous telemarketing?? call I have ever heard taking place to date.  Please pass this info on to your friends and family, especially your parents, they are the ones more likely to be taken advantage and with the most to loose.  This company needs to be shut down, Microsoft (since they are identifying themselves as Microsoft employees), needs to take action immediately.  US Federal Government, we need you to stop these criminals - PLEASE HELP US NOW!

The Do Not Call registry requires YOU to report the number that keeps calling you. While you are on a list, autodialers, which this scam uses, do not care if you on such a list or not. They will call until their operator takes your number off their call list. The best thing to do is A) report the number to donotcall.gov and then DO NOT ANSWER the phone when this number comes up on your caller ID. They don't want to waste their time on "invalid" numbers, they need to talk to a person to scam them.

Actually it's much worse than a virus, they create a "back door" to get into your computer to steal your financial information, and they rub salt into your wounds by getting you to pay them to do it.

So this guy calls who is CLEARLY Indian yet he tells me his name is Andrew Green, yeah, ok.  I called him out and told him that he was Indian and that there was NO WAY his name was Andrew Green.  He says to me that he is not Indian and that he is from Las Vegas yet the phone number is in Louisiana.  I played along with him for about half an hour calling him a scammer the entire time...what an idiot.  I had nothing to do so why not screw with the guy.  He guided me to open up the Event Viewer which shows tons of errors and warnings and tells me that my computer has been affected and that I need to delete all of these errors and warnings.  That's when I told him that I would take my computer to my computer repair guy...he then claims that my repair guy would not have the correct software needed to do the repairs...sure thing buddy lol.  I keep laughing at him and being incredibly sarcastic but he keeps going as if I were some damsel in distress and he was coming to my rescue on a white stallion LOL.  What complete idiots these people are.  He says he isn't Indian yet he has a thick Indian accent and everyone in the background are either speaking in their language or are speaking English with the same thick accent.  But oh no....Mr Green isn't Indian lol.  It was fun for a bit but then I got tired of talking so I just hung up.  This fool tried to call me back 5 times in a row...I kept picking up and immediately hanging up.  Again, what an idiot.  Just an FYI for anyone who is wondering if this could remotely be legitimate.....it isn't.  It is a huge scam.  One last thing...he said that the company is PC Speedy which is a known scam site.

Got a call from this number today the person could barely speak English so I said to myself hang up or have fun with them.  I voted for having fun with them and went along with the person for as long as I could keep them on the line.  The kind lady told me my computer was generating errors and they are the official windows support.  I told them i was very thankful they called me because I did not know what to do.  So the lady told me to open my event view and look at all the errors I told her thank you so much for calling me about this and asked them if there was anything I could do to fix it.  The lady told me they could fix the errors but they would have to remotely access my computer.  At this point I said thank you very much for helping to protect my computer from virus's and other harmful programs.  And proceeded to ask them how I allow them access to my computer.  The lady told me I had to go to a website and download there remote fixing tool this would allow them to access my computer and fix all the problems I am having.  At this point I started to get board and decided to f**k with them even more.  And proceeded to ask them how I download something and is that save to do after all I have head the internet was not a safe please.  She then incest ed that there site was very safe and I could trust it so I said OK lets get rid of all these errors on my computer.  So she gave me the address again and I said OK I am going there right now please call me back if we get disconnected I want to clear out these errors quickly so my computer is safe again.  I then went on to say all I am getting is a blank page when I enter the address they gave me.  And then without laughing I asked do I need to have internet access for this?  Sadly the line went dead at this point I was trying to see how long I could keep them going sadly it was only about 25 minutes.

We've been receiving calls from this person for about a week, who is looking for a "Sherry Decker" and usually my grandma will tell them there's nobody here by that name and then hang up on them but today they managed to keep her on the line by screaming "your computer is infected!" (my grandma doesn't even know how to turn a computer on) and she gave me the phone where the speaker had a very thick, sounded like an Indian accent. He asked me if I was Sherry Decker and I said that no I wasn't, he had the wrong number and he said "It's okay, I just got the name wrong. Your number is --?" and he said it so fast that I wasn't sure what number he said so I told him no, that wasn't my number. He then said "That's okay. I can still help. Your computer is infected." I knew it was a scam so I began asking him questions. I asked what company he was from and all he would say is "The IT department" I asked him how he knew my computer was infected and he said that all computers were infected. I then asked if he knew so much if he knew what type of computer I had and he replied that "It did not matter, you need to get a paper and write down these instructions because your computer is INFECTED" and then wanted to know if I was 18 because he needed authorization from an adult to get remote access to my computer and I lied and said I wasn't and he hung up. I checked the ID and the number was 985-469-8823 with "Caller Unknown" and googled it and came across this site. Hopefully these scammers can be stopped.

Today 6/28, was the 2nd call.  Man with a thick accent says he's calling about my computer again.  I told him no he didn't want anything with my computer, because what is doing is a scam and everybody knows about it.  I told him he need to stop it.  He hurried and hung up on me.  I don't think he will call me again.  I reported the first call as well.  There was a suspicious e-mail from Microsoft that he was trying to get me to open the 1st time he call.  I didn't know that while I was on the phone with him, cause I didn't have time to go to my computer.  When I did go to my computer I ran a complete security scan before I saw the e-mail. I attempted to open it, but my computer told me it was a scam.  I learned that if you click on junk on your tool bar there is a link call Phishing; click on that and it takes the e-mail and report it, so that's what I did.  Today there was no e-mail just the call.  He sounded like the same man.

Now these telemarketing calls have morphed into downright illegal fraudulent scams. VERY sick of these constant calls every day. I am on the National Do Not Call registry. It has worked for years but in the past few months has failed miserably.

Guy with a heavy Indian accent informed me that every time I visit any website on the internet, I get errors downloaded to my computer.  I said "how do you know I have a computer?" He said I must have registered it somewhere when I got it, he had my address (which was a little creepy but I get that addresses are available).  He insisted it wasn't a scam, after I pushed him several times about it being a scam and that I'm aware of them.  He also insisted that he wasn't selling anything (but reading the posts above, I'm thinking he's full of it). I asked him what OS I had, he didn't know but insisted that I had errors and would I like to check my computer.  I said no, and he hung up on me.  It went on a little longer than that, but this was the gist of it.

Accented man saying he was getting error messages from my windows operating system. First of all error messages do not go out like that, I ticked him off because I said what kind of problem am I having?? He said what. I said do not call here any more he said what kind of F**king problem you have. I said I don't have a F**king problem with my computer & he hung up on me. I guess I was to smart for him.  I knew it was some sort of scam to start with. People will try anything these days to get into your stuff.
