I got a call at 10pm and thought it had to be a wrong number.  After reading other comments, it becomes obvious it was not a mistake.  I did not answer.

Just got a call from this company @ 11:15 pm.  I picked it up and said hello, then a computer clicked on and said "Good Bye".

Does not work with phony numbers

This number keeps calling me at inappropriate times (early morning, and later evening).  This most recent call I finally picked up to request to be put on the DO NOT CALL LIST.  The person responded, "so you do not love me..."  I was a little confused so I repeated my request again before ending the call...

Its a little like harassment--rude and unprofessional.  If it happens again I want to know who to make a formal complaint to.

You likely will.  About the only way to get them to stop is to simply not answer the phone when their number appears. They are actually operating from a foreign country, most likely India but calls of this type also come from Pakistan and Nigeria as well as some Far East countries.  There really is not very much the DNC people or the US Government can do without serious effort and the cooperation of the authorities in the country these callers are in.

I left another message above - he has called me multiple times. I got the "goodbye" message last night during dinner.

This very thing happened to me - he has called me from multiple phone numbers, once from a UK phone number.

On the first call, he said "Your Windows have been hacked." I asked him what he meant and he told me "Your computer has been hacked - it is a terrible problem." When I told him I do not use Windows, he asked me "How is that possible??" I said to him "what kind of computer am I on?" When he couldn't answer, I told him this sounded like a sham and hung up.

Unfortunately, he has called me at least twice a day since. It has been three months since the first call.

He called today, I answered and reminded him that I am on the National Do Not Call List. He said "oh no mam, you must stay on the phone because your microsoft operating system has been hacked." I said I remembered him and hung up. As of today, I have reported him to the National Do Not Call List. I hope I don't hear from him again.

Same Number called me couple of times.
I picked up and only thing I can hear from other side is "Goodbye" than hang up...

I've gotten several of these stupid calls in the past week or two, the most recent being 8 p.m. on Sept. 2. The silence is brief, then the computer-generated voice says "Goodbye" This has got to stop!!!

Caution, 988-366-9099 is a "spoofed" number, which means that whoever called you "tricked" your caller ID to display an incorrect phone number. Telemarketers do this so you cannot complain, but they failed... you can still file a complaint.

Scammers! Do not answer.

Call at all hours of the night. I have filed a complaint with FCC and Do Not Call. I recommend you do the same to shut them down quicker.

i didn't get to finish on that  so my son is a micro soft rep for his job and when he called them on it they got very nasty and started telling him they were coming to get him and such.

they said they were from microsoft and that they we had been hacked is what they told my son.

I got a call from the same number last night -988-366-9099.  It was 11:00PM.  I asked him why he was calling me so late & he responded with he was going to beat me up.

This clown called me telling me that my computer was going to shut down from the viruses or that he could shut it down because he had full control of my system and all the files it contained. He then asked me if he could f*** my mom and said he was standing outside my front door. Complete prankster, dunno why its coming from a non existent area code, unless it really is from Iran. He did sound Arabic.

What a joke!  This number has been calling my work for about a week and when I answer there is no one on the line.  Finally today someone answered and he claimed to be from Microsoft.  He was an idiot... got my name wrong, did not even realize there are multiple computers in this location.  Total scammer.  Hopefully he won't call back.

I get late night calls11:30pm-1200am from this number 988-366-9099, how can we track down this and stop it from happening

I have been getting the same calls after 11pm. The  air followed by "goodbye" also received the call saying they were calling from Microsoft and my computer was about to crash.

Keep a referee whistle close to your phone.  When they call, blow the whistle loudly.  It should end the calls.

I have the same experience as the entry above...calls all day and night.  I never answer anymore.

Got this call at 10:46 PM and it was just an automated message that said "goodbye"

I just received another of these calls. I answered and they told me they were with Microsoft help desk... blah blah blah. I told thim that I found this call funny because I am a MAC user. He instantly hung up on me and hopefully they won't call me ever agan.

Had many calls from 988-366-9099. But last night at 10 PM on a Sunday, when I'm sleeping, is the last straw. Every time I answer there is no one there. I say hello a few times and then a computer voice comes on and says "good bye". What can I do about this?

This is most definately a scam.They told me that my computer had several viruses and they wanted me to turn it on and go to where they directed.I then said that I never heard of such calls and this phone call was a scam.They then hung up.Beware!!!!!!

Hi..got call from this number 9883669099 and he was telling me that your computer is having some malware coming to us. something nonsense..

I got 4 phone calls from 988-366-9099 a few months ago and 1 on 8-5, 2 on 8-6, and 1 on 8-7.  I say  "hello" "hello" and they say "Die!" in a loud nasty threatening voice.  I have called the police, FBI, tried to send an email to the CIA because it is international, & the NSA.  I must be the only person in the US who wants their phone tapped.  But I can't get anyone in the bureaucracy to help me.  Today, I was driving by a car that was on the berm & I got a surge of gas in my car.  Had to open all the windows.  Hope I am not getting death threats & I am just being paranoid.
