Wow! I almost got taken in by this idiot! I mean, not that I would send any money ahead or anything like that, but I lost my time talking to this scammer.  His English is really bad; that's another clue that he's a scum bag scammer.  He was able to send me an E-mail from "Paypal" (of course it was fake) but it appeared to be real and that's when I knew he's a thief trying to grab some poor person. I pray that no one will fall into his trap and I pray that God will block his way so he doesn't continue his scams.

I had the caller call me in Toronto today. I get them all the time but know from the number w hat they are so I just put them on block but new numbers always pop up.

What i would like to know is whether or not, after you send them the supposed "agents fee" is that the end of the scam or has the victim also shipped his/her craiglist item to the person thereby losing out twice or just on the money sent?

I didnt bother to pick it up knowing what it was so i am not sure what the company was called.

This is a known scam.  Some foreign con men troll publically posted ads for anything. They do it to newspaper ads or craigs list or whatever.  Anything where you have listed a phone number. Many times it is done via a service for the hearing impaired but that's part of the scam.  They want you to think they have limited mobility or communication abilities so you'll feel sorry for them.  They add the poor story that it's a gift for their son or whatever.  What they want is for you to buy your item but because he can't go down in person to pick up the item he will hire a third party to come pick it up but he asks you if you will go ahead and pay the fee for the agent with a wire transfer or paypal (that you think will be to the agent but it's not) and then the buyer will pay you for the cost of the item, plus the reimburse you for what you paid for the "agent" via the wire transfer, plus extra money for your trouble from a check that he will send you after the fact.  Well of course the wire transfer is to his secret account and then he's gone and you never hear from him again.  It gets you off guard at first because you think you've got a potential buyer and you spend a time communicating with the person trying to figure out what they are proposing.  It wasted a good two hours of my time communicating with the scum bag while he feigned interest in my item. I kept asking where he was located but he wouldn't say because they want you to think they are local. They really don't even know where you are located in the USA.  As soon as I figured out he wanted me to pay his agent up front first (as a favor to him) I knew it was a scam. I did a quick google search and hundreds of hits warning of this scam.    I  told him he would burn in heck for his evil doing.

A man saying his name is Eric Leo and also wanted to buy my turntables & mixer for his sons birthday. He wanted it as a surprise and said he would pay by paypal and would have his pick up agent pick it up once the transfer happened. I did not respond to him. This has SCAM written all over it!

A man claiming to be known as Leo Lew (sp?) wanted to buy an ATV via Craigslist. He wanted to overpay and then asked for $900 to be sent via Western Union to cover some transfter fee. Texts only, NO  phone calls. This number is used to SCAM people.

I got a text from this number since I am selling my car on craigslist. The person on the other end is trying to say they want the car for their son as a b-day gift and want me to provide my Pay Pal acct, which I did not, for them to send cash and have someone pick up the car. The guy says he is a "petroleum engineer" working overseas.....yeah right! Beware since this is a craigslist scam....
