I received a call from a phone number similar to this. I wasn't able to get to it ok time, and so the person left a message. It was my fiancé calling from active duty in the Middle East. If you get a call from this number answer it!

Got a call from 1-999-649-888  and the female Kate misses, Randy call came in 0500am Tues morning I was asleep.  To bad my name isn't Randy.

this number is someone calling from over seas. more than likely an AT&T call center in Iraq

I've had two calls from this number recently 08-05-08 and today 08-06-08.

This is what you dumbasses get for looking at caller ID and not answering the phone.  Guess what people did pre-1996 before Caller ID when the phone rang?  THEY *ANSWERED* it.  If you want to screen calls get an answer machine, if you're using a cell and worried about minutes use a call screening service like grandcentral that lets you listen in to voicemail and choose to join the call if it's someone you know.  Or if it's a number you don't recognize and you've never seen it before, JUST ANSWER IT -- if it's someone you know you'll be glad, if it's collections/telemarketer, never answer again.

Received the same call on my phone and my wifes. Missed them both..... needless to say, it was our son in Iraq. Would have been the first time we got to talk to him since he was deployed. Now I'm pissed!!!

I received the same 2 calls. 1st it was: 248-999-649888 and I didn't answer it.  Then it called back.
My brother is in Iraq as well. The other day he called and it wasn't anything near this number. This one showed up from Michigan.  Maybe it's the Heart to Heart calls?

I feel bad because I didn't answer it either. hope it wasn't him.

If you recieve a call from this number it is a service member (especially in iraq) trying to reach you :)

As others have said, if you get a call from 1-999-649-888, it's from an active duty military person in Iraq.  I didn't answer mine today b/c I didn't recognize the number and it was my baby brother calling from Iraq.

Just received a second call from 999.649.8888 and this time let it go to voicemail. Someone left a message and when I checked it, it was my brother on active duty in Iraq. Now I'm ticked I didn't answer it. The US military obviously uses this so answer it! I know I will.

Just before noon on 11/20/07, received 2 calls on my cell from 1-999-649-888_ (missing last number in caller ID). I answered first call - heard a man's voice with accent? then silence. Turned my phone off after 2nd call.
