Just got a call from this number.  An Indian woman advised me she was calling from Windows Operational Support.  I told her I didn't have a computer and they should stop calling.  She then proceeded to ask me if I had a laptop, tablet or television.  I said no to all and she asked me what I did to pass the time.  I told her I read.  she couldn't understand the concept of reading books.  She then claimed that she was calling to do a survey and they would send me some romantic books.  She had my address.  I told her that I was reporting all of these phone calls I keep getting to the police and she said it was the police that had asked her to call me.  I said fine then give me your name and number that the police can reach you at and I will have them call you.  She gave me a name and then the phone number she gave me was actually my number with a 0 in front of it.  Think she thought she was pretty funny.  I ended up getting very frustrated and angry with her because she was being rude and disrespectful and I swore at her.  She then proceeded to tell me that I was a horrible person and that I was obviously illiterate and uneducated if I use bad language.  Most frustrating phone call.  Usually they just hang up when I tell them I am recording the call and will notify the police.

Prank Call
Heavily accented man called, claimed to be from Windows PC Care, and said I had a virus that was sending error messages.  Started walking me through a detailed process before I got suspicious and hung up.  Called again a few nights later when my computer was not even on.

Prank Call
Had these calls about 1 year ago, and they called again today - DEFINITELY A SCAM.  Do not get involved with these rude, nasty people, for they will take over your computer and then expect you to pay them to give your access back to you.

Just got a call from this number. A lady who didn't speak very clear English informed me that she just got a message regarding problems with my computer and was going to fix them.  I don't have any issues with my computer so  I told her I thought she was full of baloney and hung up. How are they even getting my phone number?

Based on colleagues calls, it seems to be a scam to install spyware. I got a call from them but they hung up before I could string them along.

Yes,this is a complete scam! Best not to answer the phone if one has Caller Display to see the number or hang up before being engaged in any length of conversation.

Stay away from them, don't give them any info :)

They call me and hang up, I wish I got to talk to them and give them my opinion about them.

This # just called me too. They said they were with PC Care of Windows. They said they wanted to fix my computer problems that I was having on my computer. Made me do a couple of checks through windows menu. I was very suspecious so I asked for a phone number for me to call them back so I could check things out for myself. He was very insistant that he call me back and wouldn't give me a number to call him back. So I told them not to call me back.

I got a call from this guy named Michael who said he was with my local computer company and said I ignored the warning on my computer and he was calling me to advise me that my software was being destroyed. The day before I did get a pop up window saying warning but I turned it off. I phoned Verizon and Mcafee and they both referred me to each other. My computer seems fine, but he was able to call my home number. This happened on September 2, 2011. Oh and he said I had Windows 7..very strange

Got a call from 999-910-0244 on Sept 2, 2011 and the caller said he was from my local Computer Company and that I had ignored a warning. When I asked what do you mean? He replied to me that I ignored my message on my computer and that I had ignored the warning so he was calling to advise me that my software was being destroyed. Note-a vague recollection of a pop up that said something about a warning the day before came up on my computer, but I did not share this.

I asked him again, what company did he represent? Then I got ring tone. I phone Verizon and the Virus Protection company and each referred me back to each other with no knowlege of a local computer company. Is this a scam and if so, has anyone else experienced this? I am concerned.

I just had a phone call telling me he was from Microsoft and that we are receiving error messages and to go to my computer and he will guide me to fixing the problems.  I had to be connected to internet first.  I asked to phone him back and he said yes his name is James.  Then I clued in that he said Window.  I use a Mac.  The scary part was he had my name, my address, and my IP address.  Eek!  I feel like I should report this somewhere but don't know who. He said he got the wrong person after I told him I don't use Windows.
