Got a call from "Max". Told me my computer has many viruses was very dangerous. Seemed fishy, I hung up and he called back several times. Beware.

This guy calls me and says that his name is Alex Matthew, but he sounds like he is from another country, anyways he also said that my computer had a bomb and that it would crash if I didn't do what he said. I told him he was a f****ng liar and call me back when someone can speak better english than you do, so I hung up, he called right back and said he was the same guy and I hung up again, he then called me back, so I keep him on the line while I looked up his number he was calling from and read all the other messages, I am wondering if I should call the police just because he said I had a bomb in my computer

A female just called me with an accent so thick I couldn't understand her. I first told her I couldn't hear her so she started yelling. Then I told her I couldn't understand her... She told me my computer was having problems. Really... Not!! Told her to mind her own business and HUNG UP!! SCAMMER!!

I just got a call from this number as well, from a woman with a very thick Indian [India] accent. She asked me if "I would like to talk about my computer". [Huh?] I told her I do not talk to anyone about my computer and then hung-up.
Sounds like phishing to me. They want to get info from me --- a scam for certain. They only need one naive individual to make it worth their time.
PS: I have AT&T service -- landline. Where do they find our phone numbers? --- or, is it just a random dialing? They already know the country code [if calling from a foreign country, although I have gotten numerous telemarketing calls from Florida], and the area codes are easily found on the internet [only 3 digits] --- then just dial 7 numbers. Do that enough times and you are destined to reach somebody.

Phishing scam for sure! "Your computer is sending error messages..." Tried to keep "him" on the phone as long as possible to keep him from calling someone gullible enough to let him suck their computer of all their personal information, or install a virus on it.

Same as the other reports.
Told "him" that I was a computer tech, didn't have windows, didn't have Mac, used Linux. I tried to stall him for awhile to keep him from calling someone who would fall for his phishing scam. He tried to call back a couple times after I hung up, didn't leave a message (duh...)

I too got a call from this number and they claimed all sorts of errors on my computer and that their program cost $125.99 would fis the problem. I question them since Microsoft support does not operate this way. I just hope they din.t put a bug on my system. So far all my error checking seems to be working OK?

Same guy, different names. He struggled but told me his name was Paul. With even more of a Struggle said his last name was Williams. (Name does not match the accent) Was kind enough to give me his call back number 408-786-5612. Check of that number leads to the same list of complaints. Said he was in Tampa but could not give me his street address. When he asked me why I would want that, I indicated that it would make it easier for law enforcement to reach out to him in an effort to stop him from trying to pull this scam on others. Seemed whatever I said to embarrass him just rolled off his back. What gall. After demeaning him for over 5 minutes, he still had to nerve to ask if I was interested in his service or not. Some really scary people in this world. Sure glad I am sheltered from most of them. Sure wish this guy or this gang could be put where they belong.

The Same exact thing is happening... I joked around and told him where to stick, and he said he likes it that way and i'm a dirty boy. He is non stop calling.

I let it go to voicemail and the person breathed in the phone then hung-up. No message left. Anybody have an idea where they get our phone numbers from? I use Time Warner as my provider. Thanks.

same thick accent... he said my computer was sending him error messages and then asked if it was running slow... I said no. he said thank you and have a good day.

Had a thick Indian accent and told me my system was sending him errors and and that it was corrupted and about to fail. He also told me all the same things he told Diane just a few minutes ago. I humored him and he then told me to right click on a message and delete it. Of course, this option wasn't available so he told me a virus must have turned off the delete option. He expected me to believe that deleting the error messages would alleviate the problem. Duh.. that makes no sense at all. He also couldn't explain why the errors which were just lan and Tivo connect errors had been occurring since last May yet had done no damage yet. DO NOT GO TO THAT WEBSITE!!! It's a scam.

Foreign sounding (India) male called to say he worked for 'Windows' and that my computer was sending messages that it had a problem or a virus. I said, 'you work for Microsoft", he said NO, he worked for a company that sells Windows.
I said -what kind of problem are you seeing--he said--I need you to go to this website and I can take a look at your computer.
I said, you are joking, right...he said no. I said, you are running a scam aren't you? He said, no go to this site.
I said what did the message from my computer say--he said your Windows has a problem...I said--that is SO strange because I have a MAC...he hung up.

I just got a call from "Peggy" too. Got the same story about my computer sending them error messages. Lied and told him my computer is brand new and 100% under warranty. Thanked him for the warning and I will call "my tech". Peggy hung up on me.
| Has a clue 2011-11-01 16:36:50 Unknown |
Someone claiming to be Paul, (clearly not the case), like "Peggy" from the credit card commercial. He claims to be from Windows and wants me to do something to my computer so he'll stop receiving warning messages.
How stupid do these people think we are?
Please, America, don't be so dumb to fall for those stupid ads and calls. Don't make us look bad.
