999-910-0305 Called again.  For the two previous calls I spoke to an Indian man with a very heavy accent.  He was telling me there was a problem with my Windows operating system.  both times I told him that I didn't have a computer and then they would hang up.  Called again today and when I answered the person on the other end didn't speak and they eventually hung up afer about 10 seconds. Does anyone know how I can get these people to stop calling me?  My phone carrier doesn't block individaul numbers and I can't report them to the FTC becasue 999 is not a real area code.

This is my second call from this number and I spoke to a man each time.  The man had a very heavy Indian accent and was difficult to understand.  I could hear other men speaking in the back ground saying the same things about "calling about Microsoft Windows".  Both calls I told the Indian caller that I didn't have a computer and that he must have the wrong number.  He was silent for a couple of seconds and then hung up.  The call at 8:35 PM which I consider too late to be calling.

Just got the same call, said he was getting complaints about a  Windows problem on my computer  that had to be fixed.  I asked him to identify his  business and he just kept on spewing crap about my computer, so I hung up.  Two minutes later he the nerve to call me back and I told him that it was a scam because I don't even run windows in the first place.  In a last desperate attempt he asked what system I did run, at which point I hung up.

Before I found and read this website, I reported this to the FTC and put an allert on my credit.I too am being called at all hours.  They are from Microsoft Windows and my pc is sending error messages,hard-drive prob, etc.  Very agressive Indian sounding accent, very intimidating and scary.  The new number today is 999-910-0312 that called my home.  He hung up when I told him I was calling the police but I see they're back at it today.  What to do?????

They called around lunch time.  I didn't bother to answer because I've grown bored of messing with these fools.  I'm sure it was either the tired, old Microsoft scam, or maybe the new Wal-Mart gift card scam.  Either way, they're annoying.

Your new number is somebody else's old number.  The pest is looking for the person who had your number before you got it.

Either that or they are using an auto-dialer that is calling every number.

12/13 received a call from this number 999-910-0305 with heavy India accent sayiing his name is Harry Smith, from Walmart and i won $500 gift card.  I said i wasn't an idiot to fall for a scam like this.  He then said, then "you are an idiot"... I hung up - this is nuts, i am getting scam calls at least 3 times a day; probably trying to scam people who wants extra money for the holidays.

Been getting a lot of calls from these types of random numbers lately now I just pick up the phone breath into the receiver like I am blowing out a candle so it's all they can hear and then an automated voice says goodbye.

Then I don't get a call for a month or so, these scam artist are getting numbers from the do not call registry from U.S. and Canada that were initially set up to prevent telemarketing i just wish they'd release who got access to that list so they could do something about these annoying scams. According to local authorities if you can keep them on the line for seven minutes they can trace the number but I've yet to be able to do this so I resorted to the tactic I mentioned above and I only get calls from the number once before they switch to a new one which only happens about once a month since I have started doing this. Maybe they'll give up soon.

I am blunt and have to ask you did they sound like foreigners to you?  Not to stereotype but did they have heavy india'ian accents? They sure did to me.  Did I contact them about error and warning issues I was seeing on my Windows computer? I sure did'nt.  Those were my first clues it was a scam.
There are a majority of scams occouring via heavily accented individuals, Nigerian, India'ian, other foreigen accented people, some more heavily accented than others, but I degress. Back to point. They offer to fix your computer but in fact will infect your computer with a virus that will give to them your most valuable secrets. Those which will compleetly destroy your fiancial and banking life, and you. Dont be an Infedel and get suckered into doing anything they ask via the phone number 999( not a valid area code #) 910-0305.
If the shoe fits, foreign accents, need you  to turn on your computer and go to their websit,  they will solve the problem regaurding errors and warnigs in that the Microsoft Service and Maintenance dept has found, in that someone is trying to hack into your registry and boot up system. Then they wear it! They are scamer thieves. Period.

This a holes are the latest in computer scams.
They tell you they are form Microsoft service and maintenance and that they have detected a problem with your windows microsoft computer.
They ask you to turn on your computer and go to their website to show you the  errors and warnings regaurding your computer. That those warnings are due to someone trying to break into your registry and boot up system.
Its a scam to lead you into a fraudulent website where upon, once you do so, they install their software virus, mallware, or gain remote access  to your computer. This  in order to download as much info from your windows including your credit card and banking information, passwords  and personall information, all  in order to destroy your life. Thats right to DESTROY YOUR LIFE. I got the call last night  and they first scared the poop out of me with the warning and error talk of my C.. I was confident I had no problems with my C. and asked them for a client ticket number and which brand of C. I was useing. Of course they knew not a thing about that, and just kept asking me to turn on my C so they could show me the error and warnings by going to there website. I told them I knew this was a scam and I was not doing anything they asked, and after repeated attempts by them, asking me to please turn on my computer to view the warnigs and errors signs, which I would not do, they hung up. These a holes always call at your bedtime to catch you in a drowsey state of mind.

First clue about scams is you did not initiate the contact. Second clue is one of the oldest tricks in the book, they want to give you some great monatary gift, but first  they will need your bank account numbers, social security number or other personal information from you.

Email scams use the same scare or reward tacktics to get you to open their websites, where upon they can infect your C. They can appear sofisticated by mimicking banking and finacial institutions asking you to  re-provide or confirm your personal account numbers, password or social security numbers. Dont do it!  Have you heard about the social security con? Thats where they tell you it s social security dept. you are intitled to extra money. They ask you to confirm your SSC number then to please give them your bank account account number. First clue, they dont know your SSC number. Dugh! But i degress. Back to point.

I hope my comments beforewarn you,and  if I scared you then I did good. Just use some good Internet security program , its worth the $100.00 or less a year for the cost, and also some good commen sence. Ask yourself who? why? where? and how? I will  end with this question you will know the answer to. " If its to good to be true"? Its probably a scam. Or " its to good to be true. :-)

They called my number saying they were a computer company (Windows) and there was something wrong with my computer, which I'm pretty sure they hacked.  When I confronted him he asked for my facebook.  Like wtf. When I asked for his company he hung up.
