I am writing this on behalf of the Centrelink Debt Recovery team at Dun and Bradstreet. Dun and Bradstreet deal with a number of different businesses in Australia and Centrelink is one of them. The number 1300 133 372 is specifically used by the DHS team at DnB. If you get a text from us asking to call back, just call us back as there is possibly a matter in your name, your partner's name or it could just be a wrong number.

As for the misunderstanding that some of you may have about our call centre operators and operations, I would like to clear that up for you. We are located in Melbourne on St Kilda Rd in the D&B House building. We DO NOT send our debts to overseas as some of you have suggested. We do not discriminate and we hire people regardless of their background and origin.

I would like to advice you again, if you get any contact from us, it is highly recommended you call back and sort the matter out. Unpaid debts to Centrelink could be recovered from your bank account directly or the matter be taken to court and D&B wont be able to do anything about it. I have included the link from centrelink confirming D&B as one of their representative in debt collection matters and also our website for you to check.

Hi all i got same message yesterday to call immediately 1300133372 for important matter thank you dunn and bradstreet.
yes i did call 1300133372 number and this guy keep asking about my personnal information to verify the account and i was keep asking him, like i never have dealt with u guys before even i neaver heard  D&B company ever, but again and again he was keen to know about my details and his answer was we are from D&B so interseting thing anyone calls you or text u te give them a call they introduce themselve fairely with anyone to proceed but here with this sam they want u to call and then u tell them all ur details..Lol.
so next day i got a call from melbourne based no.(03)42160183 and same storey been repeated like yesterday but at the end i told him anyone in australia starts communicate to anyone officially that should be in writing,,so prove me urself properly ur not a dodgy ones or any scammers..so he told i will get a letter in couple of days..last but not least guys please dont enclose any of ur details to anyone yes u should if u expecting something from someone or you the company very well but i asked this guy about their address so i can come and see them and chat face to face and he just refused to give his only focus was to get everyones details..Thank U For reading

I got the same txt message. I do have a centrelink debt (overpayment on their behalf even though I told them to stop sending me money.

If it is a scam, how do the scammers have my details?

What happened with this? I just got a telegram today. Forwarded as I live overseas. It had sincerely Cassandra with a 1300 number .

Yeah FOXTEL have used these guys to follow up a small amount on the account in the past month. Only reason we never considered paying straight away was due to relocation of property and was not going to pay for the service at the precious location if a relocating fee was involved.

Also altered our package and they requested we return the previous hardware as soon as a self address envelope arrived from them at our new property..
All this was done pretty much straight away but they still called following up the hardware within 48hours of receiving the actual self addressed forms.

Just an impatient company all round.

Also received text messages from that Collecting Company notifying me to call them asap with a reference number to quote.
Didn't act at all about it and nothing else but this letter arrived a fortnight later.

Ohh and I'll add that I actually called FOXTEL and spoke to them about the situation and they agreed to give me time, then all these collectors calls came less than 72 hours later hahaha....

If you do some research..... 1300 133372  is NOT the official Dun & Bradstreet Number.  It neither applies to Australia OR New Zealand...

I agree....any company you are supposedly indebted to has an obligation to make every effort to contact you prior to forwarding your debt to a collection agency as a last resort.

It happened to me yesterday...got a call out of the blue, a foreigner unable to speak fluent English stating I owed an amount and if I had a credit card handy I could pay the debt then and there.....fortunately, I'm not that stupid....I demanded they go back to Centrelink and tell them I want an official letter with an itemised account of the debt.......then hung up.  I'm not even registered with Centrelink!

I received a call out of the blue yesterday, wanting me to phone 1300 133372 and quote a 7 digit reference number.   Out of curiosity I called them back....was D & B collection agency....spoke with some foreigner who couldn't speak English properly who proceeded to tell me I had a 'centrelink debt' amounting to $1500 and If I had a credit card I could could pay the debt then and there.
Firstly...they didn't have my name correct, only partly accurate and usually any debt that is forwarded to D & B, they will send you a formal letter with B-Pay details.  Another thing....usually centrelink will contact you personally and organise some form of repayment options.  I had received none of this prior to the 'scam' call.  Needless to say...as soon as he mentioned credit card details...I told him to contact centrelink and inform them that I request a formal letter on centrelink letterhead showing an itemised account of the debt, dates etc and then hung up...   I am not registered with Centrelink and haven't been since January 2011. BUT....am still living at the same address, same phone number etc.   SCAM???   I THINK YES !  I shall be contacting Centrelink and advising them of this new scam going around.

I just got a message "Please call 1300 133372 and quote ..... when you call, to discuss an urgent matter thank you , Dun & Bradstreet"
I called and the lady asked for my name which I will not give as I said they should already know that. She said she could not discuss anything with me until I verified who I was and my DOB. I told her I have not got any debts and I have not received any correspondence from any companies or orgainisations so I do not know where she is getting her facts from. She told me I will recieve a letter telling me.
So once I get this letter I will contact the company/ orgainisations directly to discuss.

What a scam!!!! I hope nobody falls for this. I will be reporting this to the police.

telegram from cassandra, definately debt collectors - could be foxtel or centrelink - the recipient of telegram has debts to both companies!

just got a text message from D&B to give them a call on the above number. Not gonna happen

D&B are the most outrageous debt recovery company. My dealings
Came close to threatening me- taking all my assets- lol I don't have any,
Told me to borrow lump sum for urgent payment otherwise the interest would continue
And I wouldn't be able to make a payment plan- I told the guy if he threatens me again I'll hang up and never answer his calls, he could take my payment plan option or get nothing. Shut him pretty quick.

Rang them back and asked them to identify who D & B were to no avail. So I hung up I don't trust a person or organisation who is not up front. If I owe then straight up approach will work with me, nothing to hide.

Not true, I just had this number call me, I owe nothing to centrelink and currently raising a toddler so not working for a while. I think Foxtel also uses them for debt collections. I have no debts so i do not understand why they would be calling but i'm not calling back.

1300133372 is a scam
Centrelink sends a letter within 28 days to those that have a debt. They dont text and they definately dont sell debt on.

repeated  calls form 1300133372  - asks for a family member but does use their correct name

what was their response to the telegram n ref. Number cause I just received the same telegram from the same number 1300133372.... With ref. Code at the bottom of the telegram......

I have been getting calls from a private no on mob and home nos, where they usually just hang up, but just got a call with a message similar to others posts, but saying it was an important message for me...with my name.

It has to be a scam, don't call them or give your details! It is easy for anyone to get a 1300 number, and if they have some of your information, they may trick you into giving more. Be careful because this is how people steal your ID.

Centrelink collects their own debts as it is owned by the govt, and they send official letters, not random un-named phone calls.

I'm sure debt collectors would do the same - and in my circumstances a debt collector wouldn't make
sense.

Call the police and inform them.

Also you'll notice on these forums there are conflicting stories, usually the scammed gets on here too to make people call them and get their details

Got the exact same telegram in the mail kinda hoping my mother or brother had died. God bless the internets knowledge is power..

Received a telegram (yes a telegram)dated 11.11.08 in my mailbox with the following:
Attention: (My full name)
An urgent and sensitive matter requires your immediate attention.
Please contact me as soon as you receive this telegram on 130033372 to discuss the details.

There is a 7 digit reference number on the bottom. Telegram service is Sendatelegram (legit online service).

No return name just a PO Box address:

Decided to check it first as no business or any detail provided. Haven't called the number yet..
