Got a call from this gentleman saying the Obama administration is offering a free service to repair computers. Asked for my computer serial number and ISP.
He had a foreign accent and said if I downloaded the program from his website I would get a $1,000 rebate on my taxes due to Obama's stimulis program.
I'm a little suspicious. Anybody know if this is true? I sure could use the money. Thanks.

These people scam their way into your computer by asking you about a CLSID that is easily looked up in your PC. They claim it is unique to your PC (which it is NOT) and then proceed to show you some error logs. Then the conversation goes on about how you have warranty and how they can check it by verifying your full details. This is where I stopped the conversation and hung up. Obviously these ppl are out to get your information for bad reasons. DO NO GIVE IT TO THEM!

Said there was malware on the computer. Asked my brother to do certain things on the computer and go i websites... I just hope he actually didn't go along with it.
Don't call that number back. (Its a mobile number)

Got a call about my computer errors, was a person who is not to proficient in english language. Told him to buzz off, I refuse to deal with east asians, there a bunch of scam artists

Called asking for information about windows and my router. My wife said to call back, obviously they didn't. She dismissed them.

got a call offering a free upgrade of my KIJIJI ad. Caller gave me all the info found on the ad and then asked me for my email address. Told him I wasn't giving out info over the phone and then he hung up.

Just received a call from 161-408-3331 about "problem with Windows" knew rigtht away it was a scam, windows never call customer, give me a break!

they called saying there are several errors on my computer and they showed me a list of errors and said theyed check my warrenty and they said it has expireid and had to get a new one she sounded like she was an indian anyways i said to call back and ill give them my info but i never did
