I was charged $38.50 by Telstra on my fax line because I received a fax from National Enquiries who were trying to get 'listing details' from me. I faxed back saying 'Remove me from your list', but didn't understand that my fax would cost me $38.50. This is a scam and I think Telstra needs to know about this and prevent these people from using the 1900 number service.

Hi Anthea thanks for the reply. Who did you contact and how did you go about getting the cheques sent to you
Liz 2011-05-31 22:31:58 Unknown
There have been 2 calls made from my phone no to 1902225372. What no is this for as we did not make these calls. How can you help me as Telstra have said to contact you via this website. Please contact me on sales@goatsmilkskincare.com.au

I'd just like to advise that we've had the same problem, we complained about the $38.50 charge and was advised we'd get a cheque to refund the charge. To my utter surprise we have indeed received the cheque in the mail! I noticed no one else had advised this, so I thought I'd let everyone know!

I have just opened my telstra bill with 6 calls charged for this number - $146.62!!! This is ludicrous!! Shouldn't Telstra be answerable for these charges in some way as well. Who has the authority to charge someone this amount for 1 phone/fax call? Telstra must know something about it!! I have just read all the posts after 'googling' this phone number and finding all this information. I still haven't seen or read that anyone has received their refunds yet? Let us know if you do.
Thanks everyone for the useful info -
Mel 2011-05-31 22:31:58 Unknown
Same as above comments. We scribbled on their fax with,"this is not me. Go AWAY". Today we got th ephone bill with the 34.65 charge. Will be calling them tomorrow and also calling Dept of Fair Trading and a few talk back radio shows to raise awareness! Thank you to all who put this info up for poor suckers like us!

We recieved a Fax for another person with details to fax back confirmation that everthing was correct.
I faxed the number back and advised the details were incorrect and it was nothing to do with us. I then rang the company on 0293394500 and advised what had happenned. I was advised by Natalie that my phone was billed $38.50 and that she would send a cheque to us. I hope it arrives. Others have reported the same thing, have they been paid??
Duncan 2011-05-31 22:31:58 Unknown
We copped exactly the same deal. In our case the fax was for another business nothing to do with us. I spoke to natalie and she said she would post a cheque. Did you get your payment?
Regards
Duncan

i faxed that number to GET OFF a mailing list that i did not subscribe to and discovered today i was charged $35AUD for my trouble. Thank you all for listing your experiences here as i will ring the company and tell them that this is atrocious business behaviour!
Just rang (02) 9339 4500 and a polite man named James said they would refund that charge, i just have to fax (*gulp) my phone bill to them and they will send a cheque out. Office fax number is (02) 9358 3499. Turns out i faxed the wrong number and confirmed my listing instead of getting off it… sigh!
Again thank you all for listing this information… the internet used for good :D
