The caller id showed "NOT IN USE". I wish they lived up to their ID. Scam and spam business.

Consumer alert: Debt reduction companies
Beware of ?too good to be true offers?
Ottawa, January 10, 2012 ? The Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) today issued a Consumer Alert on debt reduction companies. FCAC is warning Canadians: Be very cautious about companies that claim they can negotiate a deal with your creditors so that you will have to pay only part of your debt. This process is often called ?debt reduction,? ?debt settlement,? ?debt relief? or ?debt negotiation.?
Consumers who are looking for information on dealing with their debt will find tips on getting out of debt on FCAC's website at fcac.gc.ca

BLOCK IT once and you'll never hear from that number again. I have to block at least 3 or 4 numbers a week. I remember the days before we had Call Display when the phone rang and you'd answer and it would be a family member or a friend. You didn't have to fear that it'd be a scam or telemarketing call. Yeah, the good old days... gone forever, I'm guessing! :)

they keep calling me and hang up and literally getting pissed right off.
Bro 2011-08-26 16:43:26 Unknown
They called my new cell and i didn't even give my number out yet! I bet they are taking area codes and using a computer to call random people.

I just got a call from 201-373-8347 for "Interest Rate Reduction". As soon as I asked them to confirm the company name, the caller hung up..........

why they call my home phone
Slate 2011-08-15 20:32:05 Unknown
I press the 9 and then jerk THEM around, I give a fake name and fake visa # and thank them very much and wish them a nice day lie to them, have some fun with it, abuse their caller string thim along like you are about to tell them your CC# and then change the subject just when you are about to read it off and when you get around to the point where you are about to tell them the number again change the subject again. Just waste as much of their time as you can without giving then anything. They call my office all the time, I have made a sport of it, I record how long I can keep them on the phone and try to keep them on longer each time. Answer with an old mans voice and when you are about to give them the cc# change to a little girl voice telling then to fark off.

so the phone company computerizes harrassing calls in which nobody answers, we google the number and end up in the land of corporate spam. boycott corporations.buy nothing foreign made. recycle, rebuild, restore and don't go in debt.corporations all hate this behavior. police should think about who they're protecting at these g-20 summits. these are the king rats in their rats nest.
they inflate the dollar and steal billions from old sick elderly whose life savings they inflate to worthlessness.
anon3434 2011-08-03 22:08:46 Unknown
as someone who did this kind of calling before, they wont care if you get mad. some find it funny even and may taunt you. it's all done via computer dialing anyway which is why you pick up to nothing. easiest thing to do is say "i'm not interested take me off your list." and let them hang up after a confirming. don't waste time with a sob story just the line I gave you and the call should be under a minute and shouldn't happen from that number again.

s/w with a chick. the call from this number said they were lowering interest rates on my crediut cards. when confronted she hung up. ive had 2-3 calls/month like these on sevderal different landlines ive had recently.

I just received a call from this number and it was stating I could lower my credit card interest. The funny thing about this is I don't have a credit card. I have received calls from this number on several occasions and each time it tells you to press 8 to discontinue the calls, however obviously this does not work. I am getting tired of these calls and will not wait to speak with an operator as I do not know much they will charge.

i answered this call and i gave my cc# 9876-543-210-12345 and i said my name was john d. oh and the girl on the line said "really?" and after a few more seconds, she said "oh, fcuk me! you got me there, john. hahaha." then she hung up.

Our friends at "Card Member Services" are now "Card Holder Services" and are still promising a "must act now!" "lower your credit card interest rates" offer. They've also switched to using Press '9' to speak to a representative and '8' to be removed from their calling list.
Natch I pressed '9' to see if my "dumb as a sack-of-hammers" routine would play out. Unfortunately our connection was very faint and I don't think she could hear me so *she* hung up. Blast! I wanted to play the mouse cruelly.
Pressing '8' is just an "I can't come to the phone right now" invitation for them to call you again.
They'll be baa-aack ...

Thank you, every one.

These guys are "Card Services". They make it sound like they are from your bank and when I asked them, which bank do you represent. He said " i am not from a bank" and hangs up.
Basically one of those scammers who try to reduce to your credit card interest rates.

I am on the Canadian DNC List which is only good if the call originates in Canada...Just got a call from this number. the recording said they were calling in reference to my Credit Card bill..ummm, HELLO? I don't have any Credit cards!!!!.. that in itself showed me it was a Scammer... I didn't even listen after they mentioned my "credit Card bill" and hung up
growlingincalgary 2011-07-15 20:32:45 Unknown
Use and abuse the telemarketer with profanity. Wow does that get a reaction...they called back at least five times and did the same and threatened to call me day and night. Its unfortunate to attack the front line worker but these scammer schemes leaves one without recousrse. Word may get out and these schemes may end up dying off. Go home American!

Same: The standard "urgent message" about lowering your credit card rates. I planned to ask to be removed from their list and to complain about them so I pressed through to the operator and asked to confirm that the name of the company was "card member services." They just hung up with no answer.
We need an international US-Canada agreement on DNC prosecution and of course Canada needs a less stupid DNC list format.

To everyone,
If you got some other numbers, please post it...so for people who use Call Blocking or own a Panasonic phone can enter the number in advance. For those who don't use both, can print out a list, so next time you received a call can just check whether the number is on the list.....
I don't think the government is doing enough to help, we need to help our self and each others.
