I got a email form a guy and I think its one in the same he sent me a check and what I got does not match up at all the address is not real the phone number is 201 402 8020 the bank has the check and were I live at now they don't stand for this can you say hello fbi because I can lol dumb a** gonna mess with him for fun the bank didn't have to tell me this is a scam I found out before they even told me and that dumb a** I already sold my car lol

I got a check for my car I took it to the bank and their looking into it how and I call chase up and they think the check is a scam my bank has the check now and their looking into it and now I see this their going to call the fbi up and he is going by matar on the check his last name Tom Douglas <tdoglas@aol.com>;

"Gary Dancer" he says is his name. Its a scam where he says his company is paying for everything, but accidentally overpaid the amount due for the rental...or included his transportation costs.... some excuse for you to send him the overpayment. DON'T DO IT! He'll send you what looks like an official cashier's check and your bank will take it and even tell you it has cleared his bank. But weeks later, after you've given him your real money, it'll get kicked back as fraudulent, and you're OUT your money.  Tell him to get lost.

This bogus fellow has approached our rental for Sept. 25 - 30th in NC too ! We have been getting several " unavailable" rings but we never answer these.

I didn't get a phone call from this number however this number was used on a check issued to me from a company called Palletman Inc located in NY.  He wanted me to cash it and take my 7% commission for doing nothing and western union him the rest, several thousands of dollars...  The check came air mail from God knows where, no return address or post mark.... beware.  thankfully I knew it was a scam before it was too late.

Trung Foes name is now Nife Seun. He was looking into renting our home from the vrbo website. His name changes but his stories are all the same. His phone # is +44 702 303 1826. When i googled his address it is called vinyl exchange which is a record store in the uk. When he emails the name is kimmysexy but the address is nifeseun@yahoo.com. At one point his name was Nife Thomas. I guess he was getting a little confused. Hope this helps someone out there

Trung Foe wants to rent my vacation home in late July.  Glad I googled his name. The correspondence format is identicle to the ones I have seen on this site.  His travel office must be very inefficient since they always seem to get mixed up and overpay owners of the rental properties. I have contacted VRBO and am turning over all correspondence and potentially the bad check that he is sending me to the U.S. Postal inspection service - the company that I coincidentally work for.

I just received a message from this person, same phone number but using the name Cristiano Evans. I googled him because his requests were very suspicious from the start. He gave an address in London, which turns out to be the admin. bldg. of a medical school.

I wanted to give a head's up that a Cristiano Evans of London, using the same phone number is trying to rent my home in Ogunquit Maine. Same bad grammar, fake address (a medical school campus address) in London.

I recieved this exact same email.  I did not give him my bank information just my address to send the check.  No check every came.  Did you do the same or did you give him your bank information?  I have tried to contact him several times by email of course but nothing and I have the same number everyone else does.  Is there anything else I should do?

Monte booked my Florida condo for 2 weeks in 2009, saying he wanted to pay in advance (same M.O. as previous contributors, whose stories I wish I had read earlier).  London address. Said his check mistakenly included travel funds, which he wanted me to send via western union to his "travel agent" (individual name, no agency name provided) in Tacoma, WA, saying his travel agent will contact me "as the transaction goes on."  I began feeling the little hairs rise on the back of my neck, but figured there couldn't be much harm in doing it, once his Wells Fargo check clears.  I responded clearly that I would do it once the check had cleared and deposited the check.  That was yesterday. But I still felt uncomfortable, so I googled him and found you all.  Today I went to my bank, opened a new checking account, transferred everything but the amount of his check into the new account.  Now the most I have to lose is the $10 I left in there for a bounced deposit check fee. By next Friday, they feel, we should have a reading on whether it cleared Wells Fargo. It's not enough to know that it cleared my account -- we need to know that Wells Fargo honored it (which is about 1% likely based on what I read here as well as those hairs on the back of my neck). I expect I'll start getting pressure from either the "travel agent" or "Monte" to expedite moving the "travel funds" to Tacoma, beginning Monday but they can chill. I'll continue to watch this page and will let you know as things develop.

I received the same request.  Did not think anything about it until he said he mailed me a check for his whole vacation and needs the difference sent back to his travel agent via Western Union.  I did recieve an official looking check today, will be checking it out with my bank, which happens to be the same as the bank on his check.

Just found this site.Awesome! The Lionsclubsint.com guy also goes by Smith Cole.  Tried to scam me as well via HomeAway.  I say we all play along with them, get them to waste their money on UPS or Fedex, waste time and money getting their phony checks printed and get them all excited thinking they got a dummy.  Right now, I'm playing with scammer Kathy Pino, here in the U.S. He has sent me several emails with different addresses (himself, his agent,his agent's secretary) ALL with the same IP address. Same person,of course.  I let him send the fake check. I take my sweet time in responding. One word or two a day (yes, no, got it, I sent it, etc.) I told him I deposited the check.  A few days later I told him I sent the Western Union transfer and gave him a phony Western Union Tracking Number. He is going crazy looking for the money and I'm LOL just thinking of all the running around and anxiety I'm putting him through.  I have also reported the IP abuse scam to yahoo and I hope they block him all together.  It won't stop him, but it will make him waste more money to go buy a new hard drive in order to get a new IP number.

I say we all band together and aggravate the hell out of them.  Initially I was fuming, but now I'm actually having some fun and we all laugh about this at dinner time and my kids help out with ideas on how to give the scamer an ulcer a heart attack--or maybe even scam the scamer (spelling?)
