i got the same call just last week. except i was going to get $8k   i told him to send me a check.  he kept puching for my bank info so i ended the call.

I had been called by Named Henry stating that I had been selected for receiving $8,400 Federal Grant Money and had taken my checking account number. Then he said to call Mike Michael with giving the confirmation code and phone number 202-370-7640 to call him back. After I called Michael he said to deposit from western union $250 for processing fee to deposit $8,400 electronically direct to my checking account. I refused to give them money then they gave me time for five days to give the fee to get the grant money. They called me today at 3.32 and 5.18 pm on october 6th, 2012 and also they said that they were from Verification Grant Department Washington DC. I asked them .....is it not a scam or fraud...? They said we are granting money selecting you as from USA as looking of good credit person....so as to get the grant money.... So who is this man and what it is I don't know... and even I haven't check my checking account yet whether they have taken my money from my account by doing scam or not .....

i just got a call from this number i did not answer it so a women left a message for me to call fredricksburg police now and let them know i was ok from me placing a call a week ago for a sick man in mc donalds i called veryyyy strange the lady had no clue what i was talking about our government needs to crack down on these people harring us

omg i couldnt understand the guys accent i swear.... and it was a horrible reception... and all he kept doing was repeating his scripted sheet of paper... i asked the same questions you did and asked for a check... and he said there were people stealing gov. checks and that it was too large of an amount  to send in the mail and he wanted it to get to me safely.... i was like that doesnt make sense we get our tax refund checks and they are way more then that??? wtf... i knew it was a scam thank god...i had a bad gut feeling and im glad i went with it!!!

I just received a phone call from a man in Washington DC and he said he was from the US goverment and I had been selected to receive $8,400.00 and he wanted my bank info to transfer it to my account and I asked him to fax me some proof to my home and he said he counldn't he just needed bank info and it would be transfered within 45 minutes and I hung up.  He called right back and I would not answer. The number he called from is 202-000-9966...

I got a call from these people about 10 minutes ago.  I asked the guy what he wanted, and was annoyed because like everyone else I get calls from them at all hours of the day and night and it is repeatedly.  Here is a direct quote of our conversation  Me...What do you want?" Willie..." I don't want anything from you B*tch"
So I called them back using the numbers posted and got "Officer friendly"  Who asked me if Willie had given me the pass code to his telephone number.  I told him yes and then he said that he was going to talk to Willie and he put me on hold and never came back to the phone.  I finally hung up and called back and just got a voice mail this time.  Maybe they will stop calling.  I am going to use the other number that was posted, because it seemed to me that the "Officer" got a little panicked when I got through to his phone.

I just received the same call but from a male that did not speak very clearly.. His English was hard to understand..10/5/201 5:13 pm. recvd a phone call from this numer and it was and Idian lady with such a strong accent. Told me that the goverment has picked to me to pay 8400.00 And that they need your checking acct number Or your Banking number and funds will be transfered in 45m minutes. When i asked the lady. Can you just send me a check she said that wasn't an option. So i asked her. So if i give you a checking accout number how do i know you wont steal funds from my accout. Then the line hung up. THIS IS A SCAM!!! Its obvious. Government doesn;t give out any funds for no reason! Also... Since the woman calling had her speakers up i coudn't hear everything from the back. They weren't even Speaking ENGLISH!!!

I got 2 calls from this number yesterday, i answer 1 of the 2 calls and told them they had a wrong number and hung up

today they call back, i try to call the number but it says the call cannot be complete.

I've gotten multiple calls from this number and figured it was just a telemarketer. I finally answered one of their calls and the caller had a very thick accent and was mispronouncing my name. He said I had been selected for a federal grant of $8,400 and that it could be deposited into my account within the next twenty four hours. To me this sounds like a scam so I asked if they could just send a check and their response was that they had an accident at one point and that was no longer an option. I told him to call back tomorrow. I advise people not to give any of their financial information out over the phone as well as any personal info such as your SSN.

Total Scam bunch from India trying to scam money! Do Not Give them any information! Call your phone company and have these jerks numbers blocked! They use several and harass constantly!

Calls Repeatedly to phone 5-6 times a day with this BS #! It is a scam do not give them any information.

These people have been calling me non-stop for about 2 days now. Its easier for me to just ignore the call and hope they get the hint...Not these guys they do not take hints they will call until you answer. I called a number that someone else gave 202-407-7177 back and informed them that someone from their company called asking me for my bank info and I was inquiring what sort of operation their running over there. He, guy who answered officer something, asked me for a confirmation number? over and over until I said "Hey ya I got that number are you ready? 1,2,3,4,5,,6,7,7,8,10,11,12,13,14..." and so on until he hung up. Then I called back to be greeted again by this representative "officer" something or another asking very rudely "IS SOMETHING WRONG MA'AM?!" To which I replied "No, no, I was just wondering if I could have your bank info" He said "Sure! You ready, are you ready? I bank with Wells Fargo and my account number is..." Then he used my sequenctial counting trick and by this time his English was quite clear and he hung up :( So i had my daughter call back and she left them a message informing them to "Stop calling my Mom you scammers or shes going to come to India and tell your Mom.!!"

Block the number on your cell phone.  I did not answer this call because I did not recognize the number.

I just received a phone call from ph.#202-000-9966 and the person on the other end told me that I had been selected to receive a U.S. Goverment Grant in the amount of $8400.00. The problem is that, #1, I didn't request a grant, #2, he couldn't speak very clearly so I had to ask him a couple of times to repeat himself and to slow down when he spoke and #3, he asked me how would I want the money to be transfered? The only options he gave me were, 1. transfer money to a credit card/pre-paid credit card, at that point he would need my credit card # or option 2. he would transfer the money to myt savings/checking account and also that he would need my account number to complete the transfer........WTF!! So I asked the guy on the phone, "Why don't you mail me the checkl instead?" He replied in a hurried kind of way where I couldn't understand a word that came out of his mouth and the only thing I could understand is when he tried to have me use a 'zero balanced pre-paid credit card' if I had one on me! REALLY!!!! I told him that he would have to call me back in 5 minutes and I did a little research and found this blog.

Please communicate this with everyone you know, elderly, young, rich, or poor. These f@cking crooks prey on people's emotions and I don't want anyone to be taken advantage of. The internet is the best tool that anyone can have, just type in the phone number that called you and you'll find out if there's a scam or if other peolple are having similar problems and report it.

And please remember; "If it seems to good to be true, then it's probably not!"

I received a call from 202-000-9966 on 10/01/12 they claimed to be from the United States treasury department. The man on the phone spoke with a heavy indian accent, he claimed his name was "Steven Watson".  He said I had been selected for a refund of $8000 for filing my taxes on time, he wanted my account number or a credit line number. I asked him why they didn't mail me a letter or notify me by mail. I asked for them to mail me the check, and he said it wasn't an option. I asked to speak to a supervisor and a middle eastern sounding man came on . I told him that this sounded like a scam and i was going to call the police. I asked him for his federal ID number and he hung up on me...SCAM!!!!

I have been recieving calls asking for Cynthia Agulara for extended education, baby formula, and hang ups. Other numbers are 4022053017, 3105799105, 8607867263, 4072185892, and 6572026398.  Either this women signed up for a contest using my phone number, or these numbers are just scammers.

They called constantly until I finally answered.  We got disconnected after about 15 seconds.  After reading this post, I blocked this number...which was easy to do on-line at Verizonwireless.com.  THESE PEOPLE ARE THE ENEMY!!!!!

202-000-9966 called me this afternoon claiming I had been chosen to receive a government grant for $8400. He then proceeded to tell me I would not have to pay it back and several things I could use the money for. Then he asked me what I would use it for. The guy had a strong accent, I could barely understand him. So I had him tell me again what it could be used for so I could choose my answer. When he began to tell me the funds would be deposited in 45 min on either my debit or credit card or could go straight to my bank account, I knew he was about to ask for these numbers, so I hung up. He called back 30 seconds later from a restricted number asking to speak with me. I lied, told him I was not home. I asked if I could take a message. He copped an attitude and hung up.

They called and called and called constantly this afternoon.  At first I didn't answer as I did not know the number but I finally got really fed up and answered... Could barely understand even part of what they were saying, but after their spill, I just said wonderful!!!!  send me a check..... and hung up.  I thank you for the numbers listed above to call them back...that will be fun... And I do thank the US Government for not putting people that I   (good ole Arkansas country woman -- pure USA!!)  can not even begin to understand in a position to work with my tax money --- now that will really piss me off when that starts happening... I will deal with them on all kinds of stuff, but not my tax money!!!

Thanks for the info, already called and the idiot answered officer so and so. I hung up and called the metro police dept. in Washington and said I wanted to make a complaint about someone impersonating a police officer. I started to tell them what was going on and the officer actually told me she was aware of the number and said they have already received multiple complaints concerning the number. I said well this time you actually have them on a specific charge and she stated that the number was not in the United States. She did tell me they have documented the calls and informed the FBI and state dept. She stated it is their responsibility to open an investigation since it's an oversees number. Which she is right. So everybody should start calling the FBI and state dept. and giving them this number 202-407-7177 with the details of your complaint.
