They just called my husband twice. First they claimed they were the state investigation department and left a voicemail then the second time the guy said he was from the IRS. Luckily I googled the number before we did anything and saw these comments.

I just received 2 phonecalls from this number (although they used my maiden name). The guy (Alex Cruise) claimed that he is from the IRS and that there is an arrest warrent issued against me for IRS fraud and that if I did not call them back they would issue the arrest warrent to my home by local police. They also stated that to avoid being arrested 'at my doorstep', I needed to turn myself in at my local county courthouse.
I'm, obviously, not calling them back nor am I scared/worried (I've done nothing illegal and I file my taxes with a CPA whom I trust very much)... but the other posts mention reporting them. Who do I report them to?

I got calls from the same number (202) 239 0605 at 5/8/14. They are bunch of fraud guys calling and threatening you. This is 100% fake and please do not give any details.......name/SSN/address.
They are NOT IRS. IRS do not make phone calls at all. I am going to report them also.

Yes, I got a call from this guy today. I told him I have family working at the IRS (which I really do). I got his name. He said, which I don't believe, that it is Allen Donald. I asked for his IRS number, he said it is HB714. He tried to sound intimdating. There needs too be a law against this kind of harrassment. His number is 2022390605. He called me on May 2, 2014 at 4:19 p.m. PLEASE EVERYONE WHO RECEIVES THIS CALL REPORT HIM, THE TIME AND WRITE DOWN THE NUMBER. HE WILL GET CAUGHT SOONER OR LATER. Best of wishes and luck with catching him.

Most likely he was in India. Part of an ongoing business by scammer/extortionists. Been going on a while. They target single women, single mothers, the elderly and members of the local Indian community.

I got a call today (4/28/14) from this number. The person on the line knew my name, permanent address, and my last 3 jobs where I worked at. He said that I made a mistake in filing my tax return even though I paid someone else to file them and do all that work. He gave me a warrant id number. I first thought something real was going on until he told me to go to the nearest 7 Eleven or Rite Aid and put $987 on a prepaid card and directly hung up from there and knew it was a scam. Before that, he said the cops were gonna come to my house, put me in jail, for 3 hours, then go to court for my trial. If I'd fail, I'd be in jail for 5 to 7 years according to him. He even mentioned that the entire conversation was being recorded and that if I failed, he was like "What am I gonna tell my boss? How can I convince him that you will have the money?" and all that non-sense. I basically ended my conversation by telling him to bring the cops and of course, nothing happened. I called him back and cursed him out. He definitely had a bit of a foreign accent. Couldn't identify where he was from though

It is not the IRS calling. It is a thief who wants your money. The IRS sends letters and does not demand immediate payment through wire transfers.

I received the same call today and he asked my to stay on the phone, go toward the bank and transfare mony to avoide the courts and if the call discouncted that will register against me. I told him IRS will never ask people to pay mony in this way to avoid the jail .... what you are doing is stealing stop calling me and stop do that.

We received a call from this number saying they are from the IRS and that we messed up the taxes and we are sending money to foreign countries and there is a warrant for my husbands arrest and they were coming to get him and he would go to jail for 72 hours then go in front of the judge with 3 felonies against him. This is a big scam I had called the number back and disgusted my voice and was asking who this one and the guy kept saying the IRS then after a few minutes of me telling him this is wrong what u are doing stealing identities and is punishable by law and I asked him why he does this and this guy told me hes not working and bored and he has to fill the time he actually asked if I could help fill his time what could I do with him do take up time. This is sad they have personal information all his past jobs and our address everything. We called the police department and their has been a lot of these scam calls lately to never give more information. Be aware of the scammers calling from this number or anyone saying they are from the IRS the IRS would never call they would send information by mail. Be careful.
