Didn't answer the call made to our home phone number, which happens to be on the "do not call list". The call came from a mobile phone registered in Washington D.C. they left this exact voice mail message: "Gray from Internal Revenue Service and the hotline to my division is 202-241-3556. I repeat it's 202-241-3556. Don't disregard this message and do return the call before we take any legal action against you. Goodbye."
I didn't!!!!  I immediately googled the number to only find out it is listed everywhere on the Internet as a fake IRS scam.  Don't call them!  They want your info and money.  Hope the IRS and police catch them quick!

I received a call 05.30.14 @ 9:57 am from this number claiming to be the IRS and that they would take action if I did not return the call.  They did not ask for a particular person, just that message.

Just got home from work and got the same message ... scared me crazy at first .. thank God for websites like this.  I am going to disconnect my land line i am so tired of this type of crap!!

I received the same call! When I called back, the guy hung up in me when I started asking questions.  I tried calling back, dead air then busy signal.  My son said  they used the voice changer.  Amazing.

I just received this same call!  Threatened to have me arrested within the hour, seize my property, revoke my drivers license etc!  I asked why I had not received any documentation prior to for such a drastic penalty over $3990. They asked if they had my correct address and they did not, so they asked for my current.  I refused to provide and they said I would be arrested to just wait and see! I said,"Oh really, where is the officer going to arrest me at then!"  Of which they replied, they would triangulate my cell phone. Hah!  Soon I was transferred to the next level up management, due to my disbelief and refusal to participate.  The next level threatened me that I would be going to jail and the federal government would raise my children for me.  I told the guy I was looking for my tax return while I googled the number!  Thanks for posting here!  I was able to quickly tell the guy to F-off!

I received a call from the this number today stating they were calling from the IRS and that it was time sensitive that I returned their call. I returned their call and they informed me that I owed $2,500 that I never paid in 2010 on an amended tax return.  I told them I never received any notification in the mail regarding this issue.  they told me that they will put a hold on my bank account, that they will put a lien on my house etc..... I hung up the phone and called a friend of mine who works for the IRS and she said that this is a BIG SCAM and do not give out any information!!!!!

I received the same automated message today.  Since our taxes are in good order, this appears to be a scam to obtain personal information. We have never received a phone message from the IRS regarding our taxes.

Also called here just a while ago.  Very somber, menacing voicemail.  Immediately searched on line. Thanks for the scoop!

I received a call from this number today. They left a voicemail telling me it was the IRS and I should return the call before they take action. My taxes are in good shape so it was apparent immediately the call was bogus. As I read online, the IRS does not call but sends mail when there is any problem on your account, that way there is a paper record presumably.
