This is a criminal extortion ring operating out of India. ABC News released an investigative report on it in June. The FTC has indicted one of its ringleaders for criminal fraud:

In the meantime, you are going to have to do whatever you can to protect yourself. That includes letting them know you are aware they are running a scam and are reporting them to the authorities.

I started receiving telephone calls from someone saying his name was John Martin. Threatening me to call this number back.

Just got the call from them. Couldn't understand a word they were saying.  If you are going to outsource please make sure they speak english. Anyway... They told me about a pending courtcase about a loan or something. I told them they had the wrong # and hung up.  They have then started calling every 5 min!!!

a oriental man called me around 7 a.m saying he had me down for a $500 loan and it was paid to my account on july 11,2012  and it is now on july 24,2012 and now i supposedly owe them 700 and some odd dollars to settle out of court. he has called my phone repeatedly, along with calling my job. i told him he wasn't a legit company and he asked who told me that. Even when i would call the number back it was him everytime and he knew it was me. CAN U SAY FRAUD?!!! I posted this story on facebook and we aren't the only ones who have been through this.. if he calls tell him take u to court as he threatens.. i can just about promise u he won't, and GET IDENTITY THEFT PROTECTION!

Yes I have been getting harassing phone calls from this number? Why? I don't even know WHO THESE PEOPLE ARE. Some supposed lawsuit on my Social Security number..or some gibberish to that  effect and that I must call back immediately...but I will do such thing!! And I agree, it would be a scam because I am NOT in any kind of trouble with any legal stuff.

this guy calls our office more than 10 times a day. he is out of his mind.

i got the same call and what i did was call them back but they could never  tell me anything but when the money was deposited. it just so happened that the same day i had my bank statement in my hand and it didnt show any deposit from this unamed company which i later found out to be cash advance usa. i told him that he could press all the charges he wanted to.

I've had this number calling me saying I'm under investigation for federal suite against. It is regarding a pay day loan. I've been denied for pay day loans. The guy said is name was George Miller calling from Cash Advance USA. I asked for their address so I could contact my attorney and he hung up on me. I got down right rude with this guy. My neighbors came out to see what I was yelling about.

Big time scam. They called me a few years back and now calling me again. I told him to F OFF and that I was going to get the police on the line to talk with him. He said "let me get my senior attorney" and the call was lost. He called himseld John Smith. Seriously, if you are going to scam use a different name, for real??? DO NOT GIVE THEM MONEY. You cannot get arressted for not paying a bill....tell the guy his number is all over the internet and we all know it is a scam. Tell him you are calling the police ON HIM. That should get the calls to stop.

Man ol Man!  I received a phone call from the same 202 number and they stated that I owed $ from a pay day loan.  I asked if they were sure it was me because I had never got a pay day loan.  They assured that it was me by spitting back my social security #.  Immediately a red flag went off in my head.  I insisted that I had not gotton a loan so I asked what the date was of the loan and of course they couldn't tell me because it's a SCAM!!!!  They also told me that if i didn't take care of the matter that the police would come to my place of employment and pick me up.  I then called the local police and all they could do was make a report of it.  They told me to just ignore the phone calls.  They also told me that there is no judge in america going to issue an arrest warrant for non-payment unless there was first a civil trial which would result in a judgement and then and only then with several attempts to get payment for the judgement then there is an extremely small possibility that a warrant would be issued.  My next step was, now that i know there is nothing these guys could do was to beat them at their own game.  The next time they called I asked them to hold on a second that my lawyer wanted to talk to them.  At this point with some help from the internet (I looked up some attorney lingo), I let them have it!

All day today I have been getting calls from these people.  They need to be stop. Just like rwildcat, they call me from another telephone saying the same thing. I wil not answer the phone but I am getting tried of it.  If anyone knows how to stop these people please let me know.

If they did not hear from me, charges woul be filed.Very thick accent says his name was Steven Johnson. 202-241-7709 was the number. Caller id said unknown number. Don't you think if it was a real attoneys office, it would at least display the name, or you would get some type of letter, by the way last time I seen anyone with the name Steven Johnson, they could at least speek English. I recieved calls like this 6 mths ago, he said his name was Jimmy Johnson same s***. SCAMMERS!!!!!!

I first received a call from an indian guy named Richard leaving a message to call back. then I returned the call, and he said his name was Scott Thomas. he claimed my social security number was flagged due to non payment, and that I needed to pay it today... I threw out a number, and he could not verify its accuracy, he said he was from the United States Attorney Generals office. I immediately smelled something funny with all this because he could not state details of the issue. He got violent when I told him I could not pay the 2000 amount I faked. I do believe that this is all revolves around the payday loan websites, in fact, I am sure of it. So please to all, be very careful of your information on these sites. I was not so lucky. Thank you

i got a call from this number .it sounded like he was indian or something saying that he was a lawyer and that i was gonna go to jail and i was being charged with check fraud and some other things for some payday loan i never took out . i told him this he said it didnt matter they were taking me to court . i told him to screw himself he had the wrong person.and then next thing i knew he was calling me at my job . so i asked him what i needed to do for them to leave me alone he said i would have to pay him 700 dollars. i asked him where to send it he said go to walmart and buy a prepaid debit card and call him back he said to ask for steven johnson . i dont know how to get them to stop calling or if i should be worried

I recieved a call from this number as well, he was using the name Richard Williams and he advised me that I had applied for a payday loan and that in their terms and conditions there was a $95 processing fee for each loan applied for through their company. I never applied for a loan by the way. He advised me that he was an attorney and legal proceedings were waiting to be filed and would I like to take care of this today. I advised him I had not applied for any loans and no I wouldnt. The next day I called him back and played nice asking where I needed to send the money order to, he wouldn't give me an address he instead told me to go to Walmart and get a money pack refill card.  I told him I would and as soon as I got the number I would call him back.  I then asked him his name again and he advised me that he was an attorney, so I asked him for his bar number, he refused to give it to me and advised me I could have it when we were in federal court. He then hung up on me. He has several numbers from different states he's using.

i had the same call that i was being charged with fraud and he was gonna have me arrested at my job same phone number told him to stop calling me or i would have him arrested ..now waiting to see what will happen to me , see if he will send someone to my job

They called me saying I was under federal investigation. I don't think i've done anything :((( should I be worried :(

I got a call from them 2 days ago, telling me they were going to get me for check fraud. So what I did was start calling them and calling and calling and finally they told me to stop calling them and I havent heard from them since. also got another call from a different one and I called them back so much they took there phone off the hook and told me to stop calling them.
