I got a call like that too from (202)-280-7675. He had an accent and I couldn't understand most of what he said. He said he had an arrest warrant for my father and they would arrest him. He kept avoiding my question,"An arrest warrant for what?" The caller sounded Indian so I'll go with that. He claimed to be from the IRS. The man also said my father was sent a mail for the charges!? We never got any mail about any of this. The charge was around 2000$. Then a fake 911 number called and it was a lady talking about the IRS and I was very skeptical. First of all, why would a fraud 911 call my number if I didn't call them. So this man reported the issue? Secondly, it was probably his wife or whatever cause she had an Indian accent too. They kept calling and calling and left voicemail, but I didn't bother to listen to them. It is total crap !

I wanted to see how fake this guy can be so I asked for his bagde #, he gave me #1572. I told him let me report this to the FBI. Someone claiming to be 'Tony or Anthony Parker' called and left a message that was really hard to hear for my dad today. The guy said something about Criminal Investigation, Arrest Warrant Against Your Name, We Are Coming To Get You and Federal Investigation. Didn't bother calling him back but did an internet search for the phone number he left, 202-280-7675. I wonder if the FBI would be interested in hearing that someone is claiming to be from the Federal government and trying to scam elderly people like my dad.

These people are so dumb that they can't even pull a scam :) I called this number back and the guy said "helloooo" as if he was running a gas station. I asked him if I had dialed a 7/11, he said no. I asked if it was a Pizza Hut? he said no, I said is this the IRS, he said something that I didn't understand. So I asked him to repeat and he said F..you:) If that is not a sign that they are not IRS, I don't know what is.

Anyways. I blocked their number from my home and my cell phone. They are annoying and should be reported...I did/

The Attorney General from my state issued a general warning about these guys.  Bottom line, if you think you even owe a cent to the IRS, contact them directly to verify.  The IRS will not call you by phone; they do everything in writing to essentially have an audit trail.  And they certainly won't threaten you this way.

A man who I could not understand left a message saying that he was calling from the IRS and there was a warrant out for my arrest and they will pick me if I don't call back.  I called them and got a recording saying that it was the IRS and I should leave a message.  I will contact the fraud dept.

The man, Mark ?, left a message saying he was from the criminal investigative office of the irs.  said she needed to call back or she would be arrested.  My anxious 89 year old mother called me.  I called the number but got cut off after I argued with him.  I called "after hours" and the phone had been disconnected.

WASHINGTON ? The Internal Revenue Service today warned consumers about a sophisticated phone scam targeting taxpayers, including recent immigrants, throughout the country.

Victims are told they owe money to the IRS and it must be paid promptly through a pre-loaded debit card or wire transfer. If the victim refuses to cooperate, they are then threatened with arrest, deportation or suspension of a business or driver?s license. In many cases, the caller becomes hostile and insulting.

?This scam has hit taxpayers in nearly every state in the country.  We want to educate taxpayers so they can help protect themselves.  Rest assured, we do not and will not ask for credit card numbers over the phone, nor request a pre-paid debit card or wire transfer,? says IRS Acting Commissioner Danny Werfel. ?If someone unexpectedly calls claiming to be from the IRS and threatens police arrest, deportation or license revocation if you don?t pay immediately, that is a sign that it really isn?t the IRS calling.? Werfel noted that the first IRS contact with taxpayers on a tax issue is likely to occur via mail
Other characteristics of this scam include:
Scammers use fake names and IRS badge numbers. They generally use common names and surnames to identify themselves.
Scammers may be able to recite the last four digits of a victim?s Social Security Number.
Scammers spoof the IRS toll-free number on caller ID to make it appear that it?s the IRS calling.
Scammers sometimes send bogus IRS emails to some victims to support their bogus calls.
Victims hear background noise of other calls being conducted to mimic a call site.
After threatening victims with jail time or driver?s license revocation, scammers hang up and others soon call back pretending to be from the local police or DMV, and the caller ID supports their claim.
If you get a phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS, here?s what you should do:
If you know you owe taxes or you think you might owe taxes, call the IRS at 1.800.829.1040. The IRS employees at that line can help you with a payment issue ? if there really is such an issue.
If you know you don?t owe taxes or have no reason to think that you owe any taxes (for example, you?ve never received a bill or the caller made some bogus threats as described above), then call and report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 1.800.366.4484.
If you?ve been targeted by this scam, you should also contact the Federal Trade Commission and use their ?FTC Complaint Assistant? at FTC.gov.  Please add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments of your complaint.
Taxpayers should be aware that there are other unrelated scams (such as a lottery sweepstakes) and solicitations (such as debt relief) that fraudulently claim to be from the IRS.
The IRS encourages taxpayers to be vigilant against phone and email scams that use the IRS as a lure. The IRS does not initiate contact with taxpayers by email to request personal or financial information.  This includes any type of electronic communication, such as text messages and social media channels. The IRS also does not ask for PINs, passwords or similar confidential access information for credit card, bank or other financial accounts. Recipients should not open any attachments or click on any links contained in the message. Instead, forward the e-mail to phishing@irs.gov.

More information on how to report phishing scams involving the IRS is available on the genuine IRS website, IRS.gov.

Had a message on my answering machine from last Saturday, 9AM, caller-id "WASHINGTON DC", thick Asian accent: "This is David from criminal invstigation department. This message is meant for [my name mispronounced]. This call is to notify you about an arrest warrant issued against your name, and your address is under federal investigation. If we don?t hear from you shortly, then officials from your local police department will pick you up as the matter [unintelligible] time sensitive. The helpline[?] to my division [unintelligible] call is 202-280-7675, I repeat 202-280-7675." There was another call on caller-id from the same number the previous Tuesday at 3:30PM.

I called the number this evening, it had a crappy voicemail message claiming to be the IRS in "Washington DC".

Um, it's the Criminal Investigation *Division*, not "department", they didn't send me letter, they have an office here in Seattle, they'd show up at my door, the call was on Saturday... and it's a popular scam.

Received a call from 202-280-7675 this morning from a man named Peter Smith with a moderate accent from India. Right.... then telling me there is an arrest warrant issued for me for discrepancies in my taxes for the past few years Right... so I asked this Peter Smith with an India accent what is the name of the agency and/or company he is working for on behalf of the IRS, Peter Smith wouldn't say. Peter Smith would only say "I work on behalf of the IRS" over and over again. Right... then Peter Smith would give me my file ID number and his badge number to show to me that this is legit. I already knew from the getgo that this is a scam. If there is anything regarding your taxes, the IRS will ALWAYS send you a letter in the mail and even then if you're still not sure always call the IRS first. They don't call you with someone who has a strong foreign accent, being vague on the responses you ask them, and foremostly get angry with you and arguing with you after you have fun with them by enticing them to get mad get at you! These mother f****rs called for my mom and she got scared so i talked to them and i couldnt even understand what they were saying.  They said that my mom has to pay money or she'll be arrested. I asked them for what? The f**got goes "missed calculations on the tax income" i asked him how he knew that and the f**got goes "she has to pay us money right now or we'll send someone to arrest her" then i asked him where he was from and he muted me and then unmuted me and told me that I also have to pay. I asked him where he was calling from again and he didnt respond. Then i told him to have someone else call me, with no accent. Then he was like "one sec, hold on. ima get someone" so 30 secs later, he unmutes me and acts like he was someone else. I was like "get a life bi*** a** n****" and he laughed and hung up. LOL

I just received a similar phone call today from "Agent Ray Charles."  I called back but blocked my number so that he would not know who was calling him.  I toyed with him a bit by pretending to be calling Domino Pizza to order a pizza.  A heavily accented guy said, "Sure, name and address."  I asked if this is DP and he said no.  I asked what kind of pizza he could make, he said all kinds.  I asked if he would deliver to a police station, he said, "f-----k you" and hung up.   =)

Looks like someone needs to be in a loony bin.  A real scam artist would not be leaving his own number while committing a crime.
