"90493" may be a number used by Scorpio telemarketers, located in NJ/NY and in India. They got fined six figures in 2007 by FCC/FTC but claim didn't have $ to pay fine. Invariably the caller speaks w/ a heavy Indian accent peddling mortgage re-fi's, debt settlement, the latest $ scam du jour.

This is an internet/phone scam. It looks like these people are from Ghana. They are trying to scam my company currently with stolen credit card numbers. Do no speak to these people. They operate many different types of scams. One of the numbers that they use shows as the US Department of Labor.

I also received several calls today from 202 418 2830. This came after a long series of calls and emails over the last year from Ghana (where I have worked in the past - the caller has previously claimed to have got my details from my business card). Other numbers used are +233 274 486194, 718 701 6827, +233 243 213 512 and +233 243 2135. He rings in bursts every month or so, sometimes in the middle of the night. He is like an international stalker and needs to be caught. I hope that Interpol has enough information now to get him - and the gang he is presumably working with.

These guys were calling from a different number before. I thought they were my online pharmacy. They had ALL my information, medical and personal. I sent them the money and then realized they never gave me a confirmation code. I always get one. I knew something was wrong for sure and closed my account. It tried to come through as Swift. Then I got a call yesterday from the 202 # asking what happened yadda yadda. Told them I was on to them and not to call back. I don't know how to stop them other then to put the number here.

This guy looks for gullible women and pounces on them. I met him through eharmony and he asked for a fast track. I responded and he was quite nice. Said he wanted to meet, planning a Brazil trip for just the two of us. He wanted my address to send flowers. I gave him my work address only. His 8 year old son was the love of his life and had only known him his entire life. His wife died during childbirth and he wants companionship. But he had to go to Ghana to buy diamonds and gold and would be back. He called from 233274857142 - yes, Ghana - so I belived. He romanced me and I fell. The day he was to leave, his son was hit by a car and needed medical help. He asked me for help, to wire money to Western Union, to Emmanuel Nensth, 28 Royal Palace Rd., Ghana West Africa. He called me from this number and from a 6784365680, a local number only two hours after calling from Ghana. Duh! I have pictures and the Yahoo webite. I'm angry and I want this man caught!

My work has been "attacked" by these people. This is a scam trying to get into your accounts one way or another. They are trying to use stolen credit cards at my place of business in order to place a dummy order and have the funds sent to a dummy shipping company. These people also call from an international number +233277344961. The 202 number shows up on caller ID as the US Department of Labor. BEWARE!!!

He called one morning and I answered and he ask if I got the roses he sent. I said no and how could you send roses since you don't have my address. He said I gave it to him and wanted me to repeat it. I rtefused he said he had it but had replaced it. He just wanted my address for soime reason. I refused to take his calls after thatr. He sends me messages on Yahoo but I do not talk to him. He scares me and he was so nice on the start..

Call from man i am purportedly involved with on internet dating site. From South Africa allegedly in TX now. Claims to be professional. Not the number he originally gave me. Quick romance online, but asked for nothing, but the phone number on my ID stuck out and ran this search.

Got a quick flash this morning, I called the number back and it said something about FCC having a document for me to be faxed. I had to punch in my Fax number and the phone I was calling from. I have no clue what the heck that was about.

Didnt look orginal.. sd that I couldnt send any equipment to someone in ghana that I never met. He started in on the guilt trips. I still my guns and never sent this guy any equipment.

I also met a man on a dating site who tells me that he is in Ohio and then has to go to Ghana for business. All of this is very suspicious, especially because of the "speed romance" and information that just did not add up. He also wanted to have stuff shipped to me and then send to him, so he could send it to his son in UK. The first item he wanted to send is a set of cell phones, one for me and one for his son. Funny thing is, he sent an FTD delivery thru DHL and FTD called DHL and had them destroy the flowers. Probably a bad credit card. Do not trust people on the internet who are quick to fall in love and who make empty promises. They are scamming you, so be careful not to give out information that can be used to get your identity. This particular scammer very busy and cunning like a fox. He will try and turn your frustrations around on you. Don't fall for it.

A man I met on a dating site calls me from this number. He was fine at the beginning but now things are creepy. After a speed romance (very suspicious, too) he asked me to send him stuff to his son. He supossely is working in Africa for two weeks but he is coming back to the States the next week. In my caller ID says "District of Columbia" plus this phone number.
I don't trust this man. I told him off. I guess he will stop calling because he knows I won't send him anything.

The odd thing is Caller ID had .....
Wits 2001
justr under the name. really odd that the number goes to a govt site or on old documents. Second do a Goggle search and verizon site to access Goverment files?
http://www.wits2001.com/
Something does not add up.
Did a Domian lookup and tried to find a hard connection but they are on the same topic?

I received two calls from these people.
The first one was at 9:55pm on Saturday. (12/22/07)
The number 90493 appeared on my screen and from that I knew something was wrong. I answered anyways thinking it was a cross up with my provider or something.
There was a woman on the other line with a thick South Asian Accent, Indian I would guess, telling me that I am to receive a grant from the Government.
As soon as I heard this, I stood up and walked to my mother and put the phone on speaker phone. I wanted her to listen.
The woman proceeded to tell me that the government was to give a grant to a small number of people... especially because the holiday season was here and Christmas was approaching.
(My mom shook her head.)
Then they told me that they had my address. When they recited it, it was correct... zip code and all!
(My mom shook her head.)
* At this point she kept misplacing the word "grant" for "loan". Being a college student.... those two words are difficult to mix.*
Then she proceed to ask me the last 4 digits of my Social Security number
(My mother and I shook our head and I began to grin.)
I asked... "If you are the 'government' why would you need to verify my SS#? Also, why ask for my address and not send me documentation primarily." She repeated the mumbo jumbo about how this is for a special group of people... and that it was hard to contact me.
After that point, I straight up hung up. She called again, but I ignored the call.

Our family has had this issue before, but they got to my grandfather... so I knew the deal.
They did not take his money... we did not comply with their offer.
