So this number to call my dad's house. This dude with a really heavy Indian accent which I could not understand him; he asked for my dad and I said "my dad doesn't speak English, can I take a message or would you like me to translate." He said, "let me ask my supervisor." With less than 2 seconds later, he never tell me whether or not is okay for me to translate or leave my dad a message; he spoke to me directly. Because he has a really heavy accent, I couldn't understand exactly what he said beside you've been selected by Grant Gov't to receive $7500 something else. He gave me two options but I couldn't understand what he said, so he gave the phone to another person without saying anything, who also with an Indian accent. She told me to call this number, 202-436-9770 to speak with her 'finance manager' along with a grand id number. I then asked a guy friend to call. My friend called and the 'finance manager' called himself Henry William with a heavy Indian accent. My friend asked, "will you be able to make all decisions?" Henry said, "yes." My friend said, "could the check be send to our home and the bill that you want us to pay $290; we'll pay you once we receive the money." Henry said, "sorry, the money that we're getting from you is to process your $7500; it's our policy, so you need to pay us before we give you the money." My friend asked, "since you can't make all decisions, may I speak to your supervisor?" It was the same person to spoke to my friend the whole time. Of course, sending the check wasn't the options that they gave us; but if it's really the Government, they'll be able to send you the check. My friend then said, "sorry, since I can't see the actual bills, I can't really pay you." Henry then started to curse with the "f" words and stuff. My friend said, "you should watch your mouth." Henry continued to cursed, along with that, he was like "you better watch out because FBI will be at your front door in any minutes." They used the named of FBI to blackmail us. So watch out!! It's all scams.

I received a call, first from a "private caller". When I answered, a female advised me that I was eligible for a "Sederao" grant in the amount of $7,000 for being a good citizen, not getting in trouble with the law and not filing bankruptcy. She stated there were two ways to receive payment 1) by direct deposit or 2) by Western Union money transfer. She then wanted to verify my mailing address and wanted to know my DOB. I would not give this information to her and she gave me the number 202-436-9770 to speak to the "finance manager". I hung up and called the Florida State Attorney General (866-966-7226) who took the information and had me call the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) (877-382-4357) to also report the scam. Both offices confirmed the scam. I urge anyone that has received a call from these scam artists to take the time, do the right thing, and report all incidences so these people can be caught

Received a call from a number 0000121233...I too am the lucky recipient of a Federal Government Grant of $7500.00!! YIPPEE...Because I was an "outstanding" citizen and I paid my taxes on time, was not a criminal, and have not filed a bankruptcy (LOL).Verified my address only and the correct spelling of my name and gave them a fraudulent date of birth. I had to understand that I could not use the money to gamble with, or do anything illegal with it, or buy tobacco or alcohol with it...I could only pay off bills with this "grant money". She gave me the phone number 202-436-9770 to call "her Supervisor" to verify where my funds will be sent...so I called...Said I could go pick up the money at a Western Union showing only my drivers license. However.com I had I had to put a $300.00 deposit down to receive my funds. I told her (which she sounded like it was the original lady I spoke with) I pulled up their number and it appears to be a consensuses that this was a scam. She got a little upset and said anyone can write anything about anything and it only matters if you believe it or not....I said I believe it and asked for her to remove my number.

received a call from a unknown caller woman spoke to me stating that I was choosing from the United States Government Grant Association to receive $7,500.00 do to they have all my information & they have seen that I have not filed for Bankruptcy in so many years & that I have no criminal background so the US Government is awarding good upholding citizens with grant money that is non-taxable that I can use for anything. I was then giving this number: 202-436-9770 with a confirmation number of AC127 to speak with her finance manager to receive this money by western union now that I informed her I had no checking account or visa/ MasterCard's. I called the number spoke to a man who said his name was Frankie Waldra he told me that the $7,500.00 was coming directly from Washington DC but that I would have to go buy a money card from any Wal-mart / Walgreens store could be a visa or MasterCard & put $300.00 on it ? then call him back & give him the card information because they would have to take that money off the card for transfer fee's ext. but that instead of receiving a $7,500.00 from Western Union I would then receive $7,800.00 that they would pay me the $300.00 back ? anyway knew this was a scam.

You never have to pay money to get money! Grants - private or government - do NOT require you to pay money. So sorry you were scammed this way.
As per the Federal Grants website at http://www.grants.gov
YOU WILL NOT BE CONTACTED BY THE GOVERNMENT TO OFFER YOU A GRANT.
The government does not contact people to offer them money. If you do qualify for a government grant, the government does not request payment for it.
THERE ARE NO FEES ASSOCIATED WITH APPLYING FOR A GOVERNMENT GRANT.
Providing financial information to prove that you qualify for a government grant is typical, but you should never pay money to apply for a grant. People who run scams often claim to provide help and sometimes claim to be "federal government" officials, don't be fooled by these scams that request money from you.
ALL GOVERNMENT GRANTS INVOLVE AN APPLICATION PROCESS
If you have not submitted an application for a government grant and someone claims you have been awarded one, it's a scam. Grant money is not given over the phone for a fee. In order to qualify for a grant you must apply for the specific opportunity that you are qualified to apply for.
GOVERNMENT GRANTS ARE AWARDED FOR EXPLICIT OPPORTUNITIES
Government Grants are typically awarded to states, cities, educational institutions, nonprofits and other organizations to fund research and other projects.
GOVERNMENT GRANT APPLICATIONS AND INFORMATION IS FREE
Be cautious of offers that ask for your personal information (especially financial) when requesting a fee to access grant information. You can always access free information about government grants and other benefits at Grants.gov and Govbenefits.gov
If you get this call, please report it to:

Well Guys I got the same call from the 202-436-9770 #. I too was applying for grants when I received this call, I was told I was to receive 7,500 in my bank if I put 300.00 on a Green Dot Money Pak Card. I was told this money was to verify my id for the transfer. They took the money off the card, Which they told me they wouldn't do, then told me there was an issue with the money needing to be taxed, they asked me for another 650.00,which they said would be refunded, by this time I quit. I told them to cancel this and give me back my 300.00 and they said they couldn't it was a deposit.. That was my whole paycheck!! I lost all my money to these crooks and they keep calling me for the remainder 650.00 supposively for to tax the 1500.00 I am to receive.

I just received the same call saying I was going to receive $7500 in grant money. So me thinking it was cool I should have known from the beginning because of the accent. I go the approval ID number and called this number to speak to a manager to receive the money. But the first thing I asked was is this a scam and she said no. lol. I called the number and no one answered so I goggled the number and came across this where everyone has gone through the same thing. The guy told me to purchase a green dot card and upload $300 and I will receive it back along with the $7500 and make $7800. This all sounded do good because I am attending school and in a hardship right now that's the only reason it sounded very real because of my needs. But anyway I said so that means I have to give you money in order to receive money and then I was like sorry I cant do it and hung up. Gotta be careful no matter how much you need because people will rip you off.I will never give my bank information to anybody except for the bills I have to pay.

I just received a call from them today, but unlike most on here, I received a lot more detail. For example I was given a confirmation number, called the 202-436-9770 and spoke with a man who asked about Western Union. He told me to purchase a Green Dot Money Pack and load $280 and call right back to get the Money Transfer Code to receive my money. He stated I would need a valid ID and the transfer would take 5-10 minutes and he would stay on the phone with me while it was being wired from Washington DC. He stated the loading of the money was also to confirm you are who you say you are and the person who is supposed to receive it. I told him I am leary, and he stated this is a one time deal from the government and may not be eligible again. He also informed me that not only would I get the money order for the $7,500, but they do not take the $280.00 on the card so I would get to keep that money plus the grant. If it's a scam, I won't lie, they make it sound pretty good and if this is happening so often, how come noone is stopping it if it's been reported?

i recieved a phone call at 750am! saying the exact same thing. I had been chosen for grant money from the government in the mount of 7500 dollars. I asked the man named Nathan Kelsey..."If the government had picked and chosen me to receive this money, then WHY do I have to pay for it?!" I even went as far as to telling him that a "Greendot Card" is untraceable, meaning anyone can use this card and since it is NOT secured or backed by any certain company monitoring the usage, then you, meaning the branch of he represented, could take me $280 down payment and i had no trace or record of anything. Nathan put me on hold. Came back to me after a minute, and proceeded to tell me that because I had taken some kind of survey a few months ago. I stopped him there and began to tell him that I did not take any kind of state/city wide survey for the chance to be awarded any kind of grant money especially from the government. He began to stumble over his words....hahahha. I wish I could arrest every scammer out there.

I also received a blocked call and was told to call the 202-436-9770 number back to claim my grant. He asked how I wanted to receive the money and I said send a check to me and he said he could only do western union or direct deposit. I said it's the same thing if you send me a check as when you do direct deposit I just don't have to give you my bank info which I don't feel comfortable giving. Before I called the number back, I googled it and saw all these comments. Sketchy!! I'm thinking about calling them and messing with them.

I just recieved a call froma gentleman who claimed to be from the Government Grant Department. He told me I was to recieve 7500. He gave me a comfirmation # & a phone number to call back. I called the number told me I needed to go to Western Union in walmart or market and pay 290 to have the funds released to me. I'm not that stupid. Being that its from the government. There should be papers to be filled out. You would have to apply for free grants. Do not B fooled!!

I received a phone call from 202-436-9770 and said that I had just been chosen to receive $7500 plus the $290 which in total would be $7790 within the next 10 to 15 business days. this is something that needs to be stopped because this is called friendly extortion taking place with using something that suppose to be protected and privately protected.
