Scam, i was told to call back and contact John Cooper of the US treasury directly because i was eligible for a $7000 grant, when John Cooper got on the phone it was a man with a heavy accent. This is NOT John Cooper, John cooper is an elderly man with a pure american accent.
THIS IS A SCAM

I got the call too about the supposed govt grant. They knew waaay to much personal information about me to just let-it-go. I went to the FBI website in hopes of reporting this scam, but the only link there to click is to report espionage or internet fraud -nothing about phone scams. I would think this phone number could be tracked -couldn't it??? Then they could bust these people before they change their ph# and start all over again.

The the number I am suppose to call to get my $7,000.00 is 202-559-77915. I will not call them back but hope the US Treasury is aware. This foreign lady told me it was coming from the US Treasury. They knew my name, address, and phone. Wanted my checking acct number to direct deposit my grant money. Told them no, just send me a check. I am sure this is a scam.

These people have been calling me for weeks now. Telling me I´d get $7000. They had all my personal information. they asked for my bank account number so they could transfer the money. I told them to send me a check. But before you even get that money you have to donate $99!! Supposedly for homeless people.
Every time they called the person on the other line could barely speak english. Sounded like they were fom india. I don´t believe in it. I wish somebody would just give me so much money.

i got a call from this number and got smart with the guy. He threatened to shoot me :)
I think everyone should call this number back over and over again (private if you want) and keep them from running this scam any longer. Or atleast make them think about it a little :D

Just got a call from Eric Godfrey who said I have a $7000 grant for paying my bills on time. All I needed to do was return a call to John Cooper at 202.470.0928 to give him a special code to arrange payment. I ask for Mr. Cooper to call me since my prison does not allow out going calls. (I don't know why they hung up on me),

I just got a call from these people too....claim they are with the US Treasury Dept. and I have been selected for this grant because of always paying my taxes on time, having good credit, no criminal record, no problems with the government, etc. He was saying how he wanted to put the money directly into my checking or savings account and I told him to just send me a check and then he told me to call John Cooper, to give him my grant confirmation # at (202) 470-0928 in order to get my free grant certified check mail to me.
I don't know what to make of this. I did not apply for any grant. Why would the US Treasury be giving away so much money when the government is in such a recession?

I got the same call telling me
"I just got a call from these people too....claim they are with the treasury dept. and I have been selected for this grant because of always paying my taxes on time, having good credit, no criminal record, no problems with the government...etc. I too was told Mr. John Cooper to give him my grant confirmation # at (202) 470-0928 in order to collect my free grant."
I am actually freaked out that they knew my address, name, and phone number. I played along but knew something was fishy because the amount of wind I heard on his end...it was really creepy and he was saying how he wanted to put the money in my account ASAP and I told him to just send me a check lol and then he told me to call John Cooper...I don't know how I feel about this but I feel bothered

I asked the guy if he minded me calling the Treasury Dept. directly or my Congressman's office to verify this is not a scam and that such a program exists and you could tell I pushed buttons..."Why do you think this is a scam, I have not asked you for anything?" He also tried to explain the government has thousands of offices. He tried to verify my zip code and I told him he should know what it is.
I also got a call telling me I had won a sweepstakes and then eventually were asking me which credit card I still had. No dice.....
That is two identity phishing schemes in one week....very disconcerting.

The call came from the number 603-214-3677
the person kept changing their accient and dialect through out the conversation, it was almost commical.
What was not so funny is that they had my person information.

I also got this call today. I was told I would get a $7000 grant if I called 202-470-0928 and asked for John Cooper. This has to be a scam. I thought everyone had to apply for a grant and that no one would call to see if you wanted on. I don't believe it.
