I always get this call... on our work line. It says to push 2 to be removed from the list... I'm pretty sure pushing 2 keeps you on the call again list!

"hi, this is Anne with the warranty department. Our records show that the warranty on your vehicle is about to expire."
Ive received this call around 10 times in the past month. I am sick of this scam.

Will they ever STOP!!! tried to get one of their home/cell phone numbers, but for some funny reason, they would not give it to me. They call up until 9:00 at night. Poor woman told me to stop yelling at her. GET A REAL JOB

D***Head: Hi, I'm calling to verify your 120.00 rebates for gas. Just send us the receipts and fill out the forms in the brochure I'm going to send you. I'm also going to send you a new discount program and there is no obligation to purchase.
Me: How did you get my information?
D***Head: Direct Marketing Information, A company that you recently made a purchase from.
Me: Ok , what company?
D***Head: I don't know it comes in from a Direct Marketing Company I told you.
Me: Ok, this is a legal matter...
D***Head: (cut me off, then hung up) Sir this is not a legal matter, click!
Called it back, automated information stating to press 1 to be removed form the call list. What About My Credit Card info???? Is there a button to delete that?
How About a sue the company that sold my information and credit card details button? Is there a Oh, S**t! button?

Steps To Keep Your Info Safe:
Ok,
If you are going to go online and join a forum, blog or any community, create a free e-mail account and only use it for this purpose.
If you are going to use it just to sign up once, go to
10minutemail.com for a free email address that expires in ten minutes.
Use Prepaid Visa Cards when making online purchases where available.
Only purchase from websites that you know and trust.
Read the Privacy Policy (usually the link is at the bottom of the page) to find out how this company will handle your information once you give it up.
Look for things like: "Privacy Policy May Change Without notification"
This means if they one day decide to sell their customer information, they don't have to tell you and they can get away with it because following that line they usually state:
"It is your responsibility to frequently check our policy for changes"
and
"Customer may not opt out of said/mentioned services and or advertisements listed above"
This means, you just sold your soul I mean identity to the highest bidder and there is nothing you can do about it. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I would usually piss my pants after reading this.
What can you do if you think your identity may be compromised?
Remember the LifeLock Commercials?
That is in fact, his real SS#.
LifeLock is one of many protection programs out there. I encourage you to research and read the fine print and compare. There are huge differences as there are many ways to protect your identity.
LifeLock puts a red flag on your credit file which normally expires after I think 30 days. but Life Lock Re-submits it every month or as often as needed to keep it on there.
This means you will not receive credit card offers in the mail and it will take longer to get a loan for cars and homes and the lenders hate it.
But only because the credit file forces them to verify your identity before approving the loan.
No biggy, you still qualify just the same its just it takes a little more effort on the lenders end to get things done.
Other companies have other methods and warranty's.
Also, websites track your IP address, which gives them your Home address, billing telephone number and full names and ages of everyone in your household. How? They pay your local phone company for information, then sell it to the highest bidder! ReachLocal is one that pays for this information! They are a national advertiser that displays those banners you see on websites.
How do you avoid this?
Get a program like Anonymizer that allows you to surf the net anonymously. They will mask your IP address so the ip that websites see will be That software companies.
This will also reduce virus vulnerability as the software blocks out malicious website content.
This program also comes with an email cloaker. It will give you an alias for your e-mail address so you never have to give out your real one.
Also, protect your self with a good anti-virus and firewall. I use AVG Internet Security Suite. It comes with a strong filter for program access and does not completely kill your computer.
I have many different recommendations on internet security and how to protect yourself.
You e-mail me at privacy@globalsurveillancenetwork.com if you have any question about what i said.
Just so you know, I am not an anti-identity theft professional. There may be better ways to protect yourself, but I do know what I am talking about.

I've gotten this call 3 times already. I haven't answered it at all because I never answer calls I don't know. If I'm on the national DO NOT CALL list, isn't it illegal for them to be calling me?
p2 2011-06-06 20:41:29 Unknown
The call I got was telling me that I was receiving 150 in gas rebates b/c of my master card ending in ----, so I promptly go get my wallet, and guess what I dont have a Master card ending in that. So I tell her that Sorry their must be some sort of mistake b/c I do not have a MC ending in those numbers, and she asks me what cards do I have? To that I tell her I use mostly visa's, and she asks me to give her my visa number so she can look it up. What a scam, I told her no I am not giving her my visa number and she then hangs up.
I would like to file charges for phishing.... Who do I go to.
tarey 2011-06-06 20:41:29 Unknown
they keep calling at least twice a day and leave no voicemail. I do not answer hoping they give up.
Vista Marketing 2011-06-06 20:41:29 Unknown
I work at the Vista Marketing Strategies company listed above, and I assure you we are not making these phone calls. I do not know how we became associated with this scam, but we are not involved. If the name Vista, it could be Vista Print but it is not Vista Marketing Strategies based out of Philadelphia. The information posted above that Vista Marketing Strategies is involved is false.
Jerra 2011-06-06 20:41:29 Unknown
They start out saying that it is in reference to my Visa card ending in and then they say my card's last four digits...That is scary...How do they get that info?

FYI:
If you think these might be scams, what you really should do is go to your local law enforcement office website, www.fbi.gov or www.cia.gov and report the situation. Let the professionals investigate and stop the scams, which helps your fellow citizens as well. Their websites all have hotlines and tiplines for these matters. Also, most states have a 100% free program to protect your identity and place a flag on your PII (Personally Identifiable Information) and credit reports from all 3 bureaus. You can find that by going to your state's website.
Do some research on what I meantioned. You don't always have to pay companies to protect your identity, although they may do a great job.

We also received several calls asking for me. Yesterday, I came home from work and the man on the other end stated he was from Vista Services and that his company was sending a free gas card in the mail. He just needed to verify my address. I told him I was sorry and I was not interested. I hung up and so far have not received any calls. I had purchased a government grant program online and that automatically signs the person up for emergency road and travel program. It took three different numbers to cancel all of this junk. That's when I had all of the calls start. Be aware though, I have learned from experience that canceling my cards is not enough. We actually on one occasion had to close our checking acct., because we made a purchase online and someone in Spain was making purchases on our check card even after it was canceled. Sincerely, Chatty, Oklahoma

Yes I'm the idiot. I purchased these Acai Berry Pills online and ever since I have been getting these calls. It is a scam. CANCEL your card even if it is old. These people are nasty and will only keep calling. I have screamed into everyone of their ears to take my number off the list. They say ok, then all of a sudden a new # calls you.
ak 2009-03-03 17:22:45 Unknown
I too have been recieving around 3 calls a day from this number. They also call from an 866 number and also unknown. All the same people.I did answer once and told them never to call me again. They don't listen. Go to the Goverments do not call list web site and there is an option to file a complaint if you are on the do not call list. If not, get on the list and file a complaint later.

I too have received multiple calls about these so-called gas vouchers. I have told them I am not interested but they still call at least every other day. The credit card number that they repeated back to me does not match ANY credit cards I have in posession. I ran a credit check even to see if there were any fradulent cards with the last 4 digit numbers that they quoted. I just registered my number with the National Do Not Call Database. I suggest everyone here do the same if they haven't done so. Then after 31 days of registration, you can file a complaint and report the number.

Had last 4 digits of credit card. We are putting our selves on the do not call list. I'm changing my credit card #. I will report back in 30 days to see if the calls stop. Their practices should be illegal if they aren't already.
