Same call but from a different number

On Saturday June 7, 2014 I did receive a telephone call from a woman with a heavy accent from a 818717258 this is not a telephone number exactly 11:10 am the same list of numbers are repeated on different days and times. The woman had a heavy accent knew my name address and telephone number she stated that the government picked me to receive a grant for 7000 thousand dollars.  The news sound good but do not fall for this scam. The woman told me to call this number 347-380-6882 gave me a secret number ck7779 I called the number another woman with an accent they claim to work for treasure department of united states federal grant.  The woman asked me how I want my money she stated western union It can go to your bank or credit card. I stated I want a check mailed to me. She stated we do not mail checks if you want us to western union it we will but I need you to purchase a green dot reloader money pack and put 200 dollars on it scratch off the numbers and give them to me. If you do this your 7000 grant will come in a few hours.  I did my research first discovered it was a scam people can be evil and cruel to other people stealing money from innocent working American citizens something should be done about this situation.  If we allow this to happen what will become of us in the future this must stop! We are not safe people!

I applied for a grant with a breast foundation.  It is scary they have too much information.  When I questioned them about their location and what part of the government they were affiliated the call was dropped.  The number they used is (202) 559-7868.  I tried to search is in a reverse number program and it said could not find the number.

JUST RECEIVED A CALL SAYING THAT THE TREASURY DEPARTMENT WILL GIVE $ 9.000 DOLLARS
ITS A FRAUD BE CAREFULL THE WANT YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION SOMEWHERE IN CHINA O EITHER INDIA BE CAREFUL!!

I gotta a call from the number 202 738 4062 saying that i was select it from the irs to get 9000 dollars like many others am having a hard time paying my bill i gotta a family to support it was wierd when i answer because the guy had already my information and he ask for 250 dollars that the bank was charged and i ask him what's was the last 4 number of my bank card and he told me wow what's a suprice i told him that i call back call my bank and cancel my card i hope the guy gets cut and pay for what he's doing am poor but u don't go around and still i work hard for my family

I got the same BS call about the government grant. they said  work for the treasury of Washington. they have a new number 202-738-4624....scam.... F****ng people speak English but you a different language in the back round n/or lots of people in the back round. ..

same scam 9200 waiting to be deposited for 200 dollars. of couse they can't take it from the 9200 ,and the person didn't know anything about me,if he did he would know that im behind on my taxes lol

Same old story. I kept asking if they I can meet them in person. Because this is money we're talking about. As always, they choke and hang up.

I got a call today from a unknown number.  The lady (with a thick Indian accent) said that I had been selected to receive a $9000 loyalty reward.  That I had three options to collect.  Cash, check or direct deposit.  She gave me a "Money Confirmation #" and a phone number to call her manager at 206-462-5158 to collect.  She told me her Manager's name was Michael Freeman.   (I knew it was a scam but thought I would play along).

I called the number and got a man (with another thick Indian accent).  I asked for Michael Freeman and he said that was him.  I told him that I had a money confirmation #, and he asked me for it, so I gave it to him.

Then he asked me my first name, and I told him.  Then he asked for my last name.  So I asked him:  "If I've been selected, from the United States Treasury, should you not already have all of this information?"

I said I don't want to give information over the phone, if this is legitimate, then you should have my details and just send me the cash... lol.

He got mad and said "Look you can either stay on the line or hang up."  I said okay, but the line went dead... lol.

I wish they would stop calling me.  All they have is my phone number and first name.  Uggg, but these people prey on the elderly and people that are trusting.  I feel bad for those who have been duped by these scammers.

I have had others too that said I was selected because I am a loyal US Citizen, pay my bills and have not went bankrupt.  Unfortunately for them they do not realize that I just moved here and am a PR only.  

I received a call today, just like the others. I have been "selected" along with a few thousand others, to receive 9,000 that day. He wanted to verify my basic info, and gave me an ID number (2 letter and 4 numbers) Then told me to call 202-599-9602 to have the agent transfer the funds. Then he gave me another number (I think it was a ND or SC area code) and told me to call that number if the DC one was busy. Can we say FISHY?? Anyways, I proceeded to call the DC number and got through on the 1st try. I wanted to get to the bottom of this and get their info so I could report it. I spoke to a guy named Jake (or possibly Jack) The accent was indian or middle eastern. He told me that I would need to pay $180 to prove my identity if I wanted to go through Western Union or Green Dot card. I said I don't have that much, and they said that I should ask friends or family for it and that it would be reimbursed back to me within minutes. Told me they would be on the phone with the whole time until funds went through. I was just kept saying I don't have 180 bucks and then I was put on hold and disconnected.

I got a free $7,000 grant that sounded too good and it was. The girls name was Ginny who told me to call Keven Parker at (202) 738-1924 to confirm everything. He told me to go to a western union but also buy a Money Pak Reload Card for part of the taxes on the grant, it was to be refunded to me. When i didn't call him back at 6:30, he called me and i told him he lied and it was a scam and hung up. He also gave me an address at US Treasury Federal Grant Dept., 200 Independence Ave., SW HHH Blvd., Washington DC 20201. Please don't fall for anything free if u have to pay.

i RECEIVED A CALL FROM 202-783-1131 DEPT OF TREASURY. I WAS APPROVED FOR A $8,400 GRANT.  WAS PROMPTED TO PURCHASE A RE-LOADABLE CARD AND DEPOSIT $300, SO THEY CAN RELEASE $8,400. OTHERWISE I CANNOT NOT RECEIVE THE MONEY. INTERESTING! ANTHONY BOWMAN IN THE FINANCIAL AID DEPARTMENT LIKE YOU SAID IF YOU WERE DOING SOMETHING WRONG THE FBI WOULD HAVE CAUGHT ON. WELL I AM IN FORENSICS MANAGEMENT AND I WILL BE MAKING IT A POINT TO FIND YOU!

i received a call from 202 666 2294 his morning saying i was one of 15000 people selected to receive an $8400 "loyalty grant" that i would received only once in my lifetime.  i refused to give my acct info but did give a credit card# with a zero balance which was his 2nd choice.  he gave me a reference number and a person named Anna Moore and was told to call back in 10 min and speak to her.  They both had thick accents and when I was questioning her about the ligitimacy of this she said she did not want to make me do something i did not feel comfortable with then hung up on me.  her number is 202 470 3389

Dont trust anyone who wants u to send them money on an untraceable green dot or reload it card. They'll rip u off   if anyone finds where these people are let me know and ill help u beat their a**!

I too recieved this  call.  I've  seen on the news sooooooo  much about government based scams. The thing they keep saying is "the government does not call you on the phone, they only contact you by mail." And lets face it, why would the almost bankrupt government call you to give you free money? There are free grants out there, but they aren't going to tell you about them. You pretty much have to research and find them yourself.

The scammers buy the information from loan companies, insurance companies, unscrupulous emplyees of industries that deal in large amounts of personal data.  Sometimes these companies outright sell personal information to anyone who wants it and can pay.  There's no real privacy anymore.    Anybody and can find out just about anything on anybody nowadays.

You can protect yourself.  Call blocker is one way.  Not giving out personal information over the phone is another.

I received a call today from 202-456-7890 was told  I would rec. 9000 for being a loyal citizen, lmao...really!? So a hindu by the name of "Austin Taylor" wants me to call another Hindu by the name of "Steve Parker" at 202-436-9714..

Just got off the phone with the same SCAM. When I said, "I'm out. This sounds like a scam." The guy hung up right away. Never gave my information and opted for the Western Union way of receiving the money.

The guys name is John Parker. He told me I had to go tonight because my name was only selected today!

This is a SCAM! If the treasury had money set aside for me then it wouldn't be so time critical. They would have sent something through the mail first.

They like to pick on single women, single mothers, the elderly and members of the local Indian community.  They also will pick on any recent immigrant from either India or Pakistan.

I forgot to include that the person who called me was a female who also had a heavy accent.

Got a call from this number saying my uncle just receive a grant for $9000 for having a clean record of no felonies and filing taxes on time. They asked me to make a purchase for a walgreens/cvs/711 green dot money card that's $300 in order to receive the grant.

If it was really a grant, then a check would be completely acceptable via mail.

Additionally, My uncle just immigrated to the states from another country. He's been in the US for less than one year
