from the real DEA website
FROM THE DEA WEBSITE
http://www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/pubs/pressreleases/extortion_scam.htm
ALERT - EXTORTION SCAM - ALERT
DEA Warns Public of Extortion Scam by
DEA Special Agent Impersonators
The Drug Enforcement Administration is warning the public about criminals posing as DEA special agents or other law enforcement personnel as part of an international extortion scheme.
The criminals call the victims (who in most cases previously purchased drugs over the lnternet or by telephone) and identify themselves as DEA agents or law enforcement officials from other agencies. The impersonators inform their victims that purchasing drugs over the lnternet or by telephone is illegal, and that enforcement action will be taken against them unless they pay a fine. In most cases, the impersonators instruct their victims to pay the "fine" via wire transfer to a designated location, usually overseas. If victims refuse to send money, the impersonators often threaten to arrest them or search their property. Some victims who purchased their drugs using a credit card also reported fraudulent use of their credit cards.
Impersonating a federal agent is a violation of federal law. The public should be aware that no DEA agent will ever contact members of the public by telephone to demand money or any other form of payment.
The DEA reminds the public to use caution when purchasing controlled substance pharmaceuticals by telephone or through the Internet. It is illegal to purchase controlled substance pharmaceuticals online or by telephone unless very stringent requirements are met. And, all pharmacies that dispense controlled substance pharmaceuticals by means of the lnternet must be registered with DEA. By ordering any pharmaceutical medications online or by telephone from unknown entities, members of the public risk receiving unsafe, counterfeit, and/or ineffective drugs from criminals who operate outside the law. In addition, personal and financial information could be compromised.
Anyone receiving a telephone call from a person purporting to be a DEA special agent or other law enforcement official seeking money should refuse the demand and report the threat.

I also received a call from agent michael moore friday june 8th, he said I ordered medication online, and a warrant was out for my arrest He told me I could go to prison or pay a fine of 6000.00 dollars. I really did not think I could get in that much trouble for ordering a few nonnarcotic drugs online, but he scared the s*** out of me!! He said there were 2 police cars ready to pick me up nearby, then he gave me a security code that would last for 1 hour in case I was pulled over by the police. He told me to get to the bank asap and then go to western union and send 3000.oo then find a money gram and send 1800.00, then go to fedex because he had some paperwork he had to send for me to sign and fax back to him, I gave him the fax number and in the mean time send another 1500, needless to say I never got any paperwork from him. I can not believe how stupid I am!!!! At least western union put a fraud alert on it so I got back some of my money. Please everyone watch out for this guy he sounds so legit, don't let him fool you like he did to me. It was a day from hell!!!

Michael Moore called my wife today. He DID have evidence that my wife ordered meds online. When my wife told me that she sent $2300.00 to the Dominican Republic (lessons learned) I was very skeptical. He stated in the same words as above in other comments. Very good Con man indeed. ALthough it was costly, its very sad that we live in a world of greed. Where we steal from one another.
There are too many scams going on in this world for this person to be caught. How about wall street con men? This world is just so corrupt. So sad...

P.S. To my message above from Susie: Aren't these "fake" calls illegal?? What do we need to do to get this guy arrested? I called our local police department & told them about the threat made on our lives & they said, "Oh--this is probably just a prank call. When somebody's life is threatened I don't consider it a "prank call". How can we stop this man???
LYN ADAMS 2012-05-15 17:03:29 Unknown
AGENT MICHAEL MOORE CALLED ME TODAY, FROM THE FDA. I DIDN'T ANSWER. HE LEFT A MESSAGE TO CALL HIM BACK, AND THAT THEY WERE "NOT TAKING LEGAL ACTION YET" HIS NUMBER WAS 202-506-8912.

I received a call from the same "Agent" Moore on a day when I was ill & vulnerable. He told me that My family's life was in danger, that my husband had ordered drugs illegally & that there was warrant out for his arrest. He said, "I bet you didn't know that your husband ordered Viagara illegally". I told him that my husband didn't need Viagara, thank you! He said he had also gotten Soma & a couple of other drugs I wasn't familiar with. He also said that my phone lines were tapped. He said that they had done a background check on us & "We know you're not criminals". He said he could alleviate all this trouble if I would pay a fine of $675.00. I never got as far as asking what address to send this to. I knew this could not be a legitimate call because he kept calling me, "Darling". & also because I knew my husband, who is a pharmacist, would NEVER order drugs from an illegal source. I gave my husband the number to call him back & my husband told him off & said, "Why would I order drugs illegally when I can get them at cost where I work??? The man hung up on him. My husband report the call to the FDA.

Got a call from michael moore on 4/18/12. After I listened to his spiel told him that I was a retired cop, he said he had to go out on the street. Talked to FDA, said this has been going on for about 3 years.
JJ 2012-03-22 16:53:05 Unknown
If you call that number back with *67 before the number....you will get a message from Magic Jack of all things!
gkw 2012-03-22 01:10:47 Unknown
Same with me to a tee,... then after telling me that he wanted confirmation then he went on to tell me how he could help me out for (drum roll)... $895.00 or I would be arrested and sent to a federal prison.... can't wait for him to call me back tomorrow. Be safe everyone and know that the FDA does'nt handle business in this manner.... Thank GOD for the internet so we can all sound off and help each other out. Good luck, and know that if ya ever feel like giving a few $100.00 dollars away contact me.... I promise I'll refuse it.
Have a safe day.... ;-))

This man just called me a few hours ago. I was afraid and with my children and they could tell something was wrong. He said his name was Michael Moore from the FDA. I went and got my husband out of work (even though he told me not to tell my husband or anyone what was going on due to the fact it was still an investigation going on). Wanted $2,400 and for me to Western Union it to him. My husband contacted the FDA and said it was fraud and a scam. My life was an entire hell for about 2 hours. I hope they catch this man.

It's is definitely a scam. I called this number and the clown started calling out "Roger, 10-4- do we have a report on (my name)?" "Roger, out"
I started to laugh, and told him I don't order medicines online. He aksed if I was calling him a liar and said that would be a very serious 'federal offense' . I hung up on the bozo.
kacie 2012-03-13 17:03:59 Unknown
i also recieved a call stating the same thing as stine said.. but he told me if i payed an $800 fine over the phone , then dropped it to $450???? he even suggested i should pawn something to pay the fine..
Stine 2012-03-12 20:10:22 Unknown
Received a message from an Agent Moore, FDA, Building 4 stating I had a Class C felony warrant for ordering on-line medications and I needed to wire money to the Dominican Republic to stop from being arrested. Notified the AG's office and FDA and found no such investigation was pending. I was told the United States would never ask you to send money to a foreign country as payment for a fine.
Rob 2012-02-29 00:03:02 Unknown
claimed to be Michael Moore from FDA, located in bldg #4 in Washington DC. He left message that I should call back. I have ordered on-line medications, but I doubt any of that is worth the FDA's time. I think this call is fraud, but what do you all think?
